I don't hang out with people, on purpose, that would ever bring up politics when we are hanging out. I just really don't like that type of person.
I get irritated enough when my wife brings up what she calls "adult" things when we are trying to have a good time: things like insurance, taxes, ffs. What BS am I lying about? I talk politics with all of my friends. Lots of my friends are criminals, lots of my friends are conservative white guys. I have the privilege of being able to ask and recive honest answers from people all across the spectrum. One of my buddies just made hells angels, and another one of my buddies is clerking or whatever with a prosecutors office

You can't apply the politics of a future time to ~250yrs ago. It was already an ingrained system at that point etc. Many here knew it was wrong and we dealt with it in time. You can't really come at a king from the right lol. The taxes alone right argument has always been bs--it was taxes w/o representation.
There are plenty of liberal/left elements built into the core foundation of this country. We ended primogeniture here, gave away a large chunk of the livable land for 'free', the agrarian-based culture here had strong left elements as well(vs 'big biz in the form of railroads/transportation etc) etcetc.
The American potatoes used to make McDonald's fries have to lay around for 6-8 weeks, just to let part of the heavy toxines gas out, before being called edible...

germany doesn't have a true democracy because they outlaw a specific political party
I'm not sure exactly what conservative liberal in Germany means....if it's moderate then they vote Dem in the US. The Republican party is pretty radicalized at the moment, even losing former presidents and presidential nominees from their own party.
