Maybe he didnt scout any info on Santosh game, should have info of the table whale in such a big spot. I would imagine there is not a lot 2x+ overbet shove bluffs from Santosh during his high roller career.

And online wizard cant get any live reads of amateur and just snaps it off, I think he had still few timebanks left?

Tollerene was playing all the Triton events at the last stop and so was Santosh. They've definitely put some hours in with each other at the table

No way in the world Mateos folds trips against a straight.

But you should fold when you're beat, regardless of price, regardless of what GTO says, regardless of how much you've committed, regardless of anything. If you don't have the best hand, you don't have the best hand.

Or you could bluff

Or you could bluff

Yes but if you do bluff, and get called by a stronger hand, then you’ll lose the pot. That seems risky.

If you can see the cards, you know he is beat. It is easy to see someone should fold regardless of odds etc. when you they are showing the hole cards. However, it is hard to know trips are beat. It certainly isn't a GTO fold.

Easy game when you see the cards.

Also- Go Santosh!

Brent Hanks has been playing online bracelet events while doing the broadcast the last few nights. lol

He final tabled the $500 mystery bounty with 3462 players last night, screen name is Mallards, Seidel got 5th, Hellmuth got 12th.

Ok maybe Santosh then has overbet bluffs sometimes and he probably has some free coaching from friendly top pros so he could be jamming with straight blockers, but it would be very advanced play starting to drive such a huge bluff by raising the turn after checking back the flop.

Im not sure how much he had time left but he didnt even tank, snap after count. What does the solver say about the T4 call, is it even a good catcher?

James Obst chip leading PPC, hes been crushing since, making a comeback after the tennis pro fantasy phase.

Does he play online high stakes?

I'm liking Charlie Hook, who's a new player to me. He's very talkative and forcing some of the quiet ones like Tollerene and Ivey to engage.

So, I was watching on my phone, so I dont know? but it looks like he has great definition in his arms. He seems really tall. Im a fan.

J9o is a pure jam on the river and T4o is a pure call at 30bb. This is an ante-less sim, but I'm guessing it would be the same if antes were accounted for.

I didn't run a solver, but it is pretty obvious with the big hands they had. No solver is going to tell you to fold close to the nuts.

I played him a lot in online tournaments like 15 years ago. He was originally a NLHE player. He was a very aggro back then. The way online is now, I doubt it, but don't know.

It's pretty silly to be looking at the leaderboard after Day 1 of this event. Most of these players in the "Top 10" don't even have double the starting stack.

He's referring to that line-up of people being something pretty extra to see in a row these days. Not that their stacks sizes are nice. That's why he posted 7th-11th place.

How many combinations does he lose to? How many combinations does he beat?

I legitimately think he would almost never be good there and should have folded without much tanking at all, given his hole cards, the play, and the action presented. But maybe I'm just a fish. Or maybe I'm overthinking it.

If you think a pro crusher in a 250k simply never jams with worse, it’s 100% the former.

Things that dont exist:

someone who is

A.) willing to pay 250k for a nlhe poker tournament

AND

B.) not willing to go bust with trips.

Agree, although for me, I had to raise my eyebrow at the sight of Gus Hansen's name. Has he been around the WSOP as of late? I see his last cash was years ago, but then he was never one to put in a lot of volume at the Series.

Has poker theory with respect to non-Holdem/PLO games really advanced that far since then?

no not really...people try to get real fancy with numbers, combinatorics, and odds with 2-7 (i've even seen people write up a bunch of math heavy posts for badugi) but i dont think knowing all that gives you THAT much of an edge over just playing well and getting lucky with your draws.

that stuff might do well for stud games tho since you get too see more hole cards, and can realize what's in/out of play and that'll better help your decision making (BLOCKERS/UNBLOCKERS)

They wont be once theres a gtobloatchatgpt wizard on the market. Of course there probably wont be because the financial incentives are for us to keep those programs to ourselves.
