Daniel is really good at mix games. His thought processes are generally very good. Maybe not top crusher tier in all spots but definitely A tier.
In PLO on the other hand he has some really basic flawed ways to think about hands in a ton of situations.
In the latest vlog he first flats AA52ss SB v CO open to avoid getting into a large pot OOP - could be valid if he wants to small ball dependent on the stack depth which he didnt disclose. But then he goes ahead and leads on a very bad turn where V has very few folds and he basically achieves the exact same thing that he tried to avoid pre. He won the pot somehow because V didnt bluff the river but still the logic and the play was bad.
The hate is baffling, guy sells pieces at face to viewers where you've got others practically stealing in mark up.

Most poker people remind me of NBA fans and futbol/soccer fans in this way. The "Person A was great," "No, Person B was better, therefore Person A sucks" logic permeates our game (and basketball and football) like nowhere else. Ronaldo sucks, because Messi is better. Kobe sucked, because Jordan was better. As if it's impossible to have two outstanding figures exist simultaneously.
Of course, for all I know, it's like this everywhere. I'm sure there are two paintball superfans arguing the relative merits of Ryan Greenspan and Oliver Lang somewhere. Or darts nerds who will give you 400 words on why Phil Taylor was overrated.
But for my interests, it seems to come up most often in poker. Baseball fans don't do this, from my experience. People don't say Greg Maddux "sucked" on the grounds that Pedro Martinez had a better career ERA+. No, baseball fans just agree that both players were outstanding.

What's baffling is the way the word hate is used these days.
In the last few years people have started conflating the word hate with objective criticism.
Basically everyone who understands poker knows he's still a very good but not elite player overall. He's very good at mix,he sucks at plo and he's a dog in nl in the high rollers against wizards who do nothing but study poker all day. That doesn't mean he isn't still good at nl.
And he brings most of the plo criticism on himself bc he thinks he's a near elite level plo player. If he didn't make comments like that people would just he like whatever it's not his best game he barely plays it no big deal.
Nothing about those statements has anything to do with hate.
Just bc you don't kiss someone's ass doesn't mean you hate them.

whats equally baffling is people that cannot compartmentalize those that actually hate him (which there is probably none of), trolls, and people that just like to discuss poker strategy.
this is a strategy forum, people are going to want to over analyze hands. That doesn't mean we hate dnegs...sure some people will go over hands in a very dickish way but thats the internet for you..i bet a of them would ask dnegs for a picture lol

It's alot easier in poker because if someone you hate wins you can just say they are lucky. People love to hate. when they are envious of someone for some reason they can either think they could be better than that person if really applied themselves and worked towards it or.....that person isn't so great because xyz. Tearing people down is alot easier than building yourself up and we are all guilty of it.
I can't remember the last time Daniel showed some food he was about to eat in a vlog and I thought it looked any good at all.
