I canceled my annual PokerGo subscription after last year and signed up for a quarter just for WSOP.

I won’t be doing that again. I’m done paying them anything anymore. Too many cancellations and issues with live coverage. The archives are nice but that’s not worth the fees.

Besides, it seems they stream half of the live WSOP events for free on YouTube so where’s the incentive to buy a subscription? FOMO can be real but I’ve been duped too many times by them to fall for it again.

Gg PokerGo.

I wish I was strong enough to do this too
It's a poop-show every year.
Zero improvement
Any employee making these same mistakes over and over wouldnt get a third chance.

Have they put it up for free again on Youtube? I'm on Pokergo and the sound is all there.

It appears there is very low table sound but no commentary.
I have PokerGO on my iPad so I’ll have to use that.

Unemployment is at all time lows, wages are up, and the stock market is at all time highs. People with $10k to spend on a tourney often have money in the stock market. We're not talking about the working poor. I've seen polls where a lot of people think the economy is in the tank and others are hurting, but personally they are doing great financially.

Also JFC these people at the feature table need to use their inside voices. I'd rather listen to Bleznick blow his nose every 30 seconds.

Just to be "that guy" Unemployment is at a 2.5 year high. And almost every month the jobs reports initial numbers have been revised down for about 3 years (funny how the headline always has some great number that is too good to be true)

https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/us-em...

WASHINGTON, July 5 (Reuters) - U.S. employment increased solidly in June, but government and healthcare services hiring made up about three-quarters of the payrolls gain and the unemployment rate hit a 2-1/2-year high of 4.1%, pointing to a slackening labor market that keeps the Federal Reserve on course to start cutting interest rates soon.
The Labor Department's closely watched employment report on Friday also showed the economy created 111,000 fewer jobs in April and May than previously estimated, suggesting the trend in payrolls growth was slowing.

Terrible fold with AJ on 22J7..

Pads instantly took notes on his phone after that hand LOL

It is interesting how having a woman at a featured table brings out the misogynist neanderthals in the thread.

And by "interesting," I mean disgusting and contemptible.

Unless a bunch were deleted, can you share what was said?
I literally scrolled the past few pages and cant find anything remotely "disgusting and contemptible"

I mean, we see what we want to see . . . so maybe I missed it

You make it sound like there were multiple obvious bad posts.

For what it's worth, the sound is coming through fine on both sites (YouTube and PokerGo). However, the feed is lit like a David Fincher film. Someone needs to tweak the exposure.

Yeah you gotta be drawing close to dead to win the tournament if you are check folding AJ there..

Pads got smoked, was intresting to see pro level plays on the stream but now he is short.

Would be nice to get a live crusher on stream to see some high level main event movement

Guy then immediately calls a 4x 3b with K9o lol

The stream has been comedy of errors today. Could we get some candles lit to the 2nd feature table so we could read the board when the graphics are fked once again?

LOL

Made a Sporcle Quiz for all the players with 4 or more Bracelets won if anyone wants to play. You only have to guess last names. https://www.sporcle.com/games/Goose00/wo...

cool. just a bit of feedback - accept 'Preston' for Amarillo Slim

The WSOP sucks at marketing.

They rely on being the #1 in the field and name brand recognition to get players to the tournaments. That’s great for people already in the poker ecosystem but they generally aren’t good at, or don’t try to, get new players from outside the ecosystem.

Imagine if the WSOP had a once a year special charity event invitational featuring Hollywood celebs, music celebs, and major influences from YT and social media. CBS, ESPN, someone would air that every single year.

That’

I've been working as a consultant with the Celebrity Poker Tour and that is one of their main goals to build to w/ the types of names they have for their events. They are getting players from the younger demographic of content creator/athlete world because they are younger founders - if they can keep going and putting on fun events the players enjoy, I think it has a lot of potential.

Agree completely with this idea if you can get the right personalities together where it goes from cringe to something people are actually impressed by - you might have to spend a lot of money to get the A list talent required to fill the right game but if you work together with the other poker sites and have a few big names to recruit with I think you could create something that really stands out but it isn't very easy from my experience. Lots of people will give the WSOP a big discount/free fee if they get to play with guys like Neymar, Hellmuth, Negreanu, types - lots of "big names" seem to be playing poker 24/7 these days and only trending up after the rise of HCL.

Ok but saying 2.5 year high (up to 4.1 from 3.4 low) is really finding the most negative way to put it. 4.1 is still a historic low compared to pretty much anything in recent memory.

The unemployment rate hit a point where it literally couldn't get much better, and the economy is cyclical, so of course it's going to contract some. 4.1% unemployment is still a gangbusters economy.

Wages are still up. Stocks are still literally scraping all time highs.

Human nature is just that if things aren't getting better, people always think they're getting worse. No one is ever happy with status quo. Also it's an election year so it's very important for one side to amplify every possible negative thing about the economy right now. Watch the same economy be framed much much differently next year by various outlets, depending on who wins. Same with the CRISIS at the border, which is being amplified to high heaven right now.

Props to the commentators for always being nice when it comes to play. Moneymaker cbets a AK2r flop with Q9hh for 5k and dude with KJ just piles in 40k.

"Just not believing it! This is ballsy!"

Love it lol

I don't get the impression it's the lighting in the room, but rather the exposure/iris setting on the camera. Whoever set that must have taken a four-hour smoke break.

Holy ****. Actress Arden Cho is crushing it so far. At 340K in chips.

^If her play on The Big Game is any indication, Arden is on the "go big" phase of the pendulum, with the "go home" side looming in the near future.

  • Stevewilldoit
  • Bradley Martin
  • Hodge twins
  • Adin Ross
  • Destiny
  • Cody from Xposed
  • Los Polos

No idea for most of those guys but Steiny played one or two of the events iirc - don't know much about this list outside they all make some type of content and have a lot of good/bad clips on them that helped make them well known

it's a mix of athletes and online creators in all types of niches including a few of the poker vloggers

Most of them are Kick Streamer, and they all have some commonality. I'll let you figure it out.

The 500k bag is the biggest Day 1 bag in the history of main event by far!

There have only been few +400k bags, rigby did 400k and 2nd largest bag in history was 417k by someone.

Watch out for that guy!

Starting chips were 10k until 2006; 20k to 2008, 30k to 2015, 50k to 2018, and 60k since 2019.

In 2022, Hao Chen bagged 580,100 Day 1D. That's the absolute record AFAIK but is only 9.7x starting stack).

The relative largest Day 1 chip stack was Hossein Tagh Avi with 229,125 in 2006 (22.9x starting stack). Every year from 2004 to 2009, the Day 1 chip leader had a bigger relative starting stack than Chen.

Ok I did hard work and went through of every year of PokerNews Main Event reports with modern stacks but I understand now that you cant trust anything coming out of that site.

Was everyone donking off so much more back then or was the blinds increasing faster?

AFAIK the main has had two hour levels for ages. Though I don't know what sort of effect the countless starting stack/structure changes have had.

2006 was the peak of the boom so it would make sense for that to be one of the year where the average play was the worst and people were just punting off stacks. You have to remember in those days a 3-4x PFR was standard.
