Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn't eat it....
o well atleast the girl grinded him on the rails of a club, almost got kicked out for grinding? Kappa
Apparently Dnegs was crying for hours like a baby during the day 1 because he got coolered once and could not build a stack?
There was comments about it on twitter some dude next to his table was shocked and daniel admitted that he lost his **** because of all the pressure for long days on months ends.
I cant imagine adult male at work throwing a tantrum and crying, it supposedly helps him to let it out on the spot?
Weird to see high level poker pro have such a weak mental.
For me it is just disgusting to see a man act like woman or child in public. I mean weak men do that and I understand their mental is weak go on and cry, but any mentally strong respectable character, I cant see Ivey or Antonius or Trueteller ever acting like that.

You heard of a guy called Hellmuth ?
Everyone should just put MTTg on the ignore list at this point they aren't even reaching the threshold of low effort with some of the **** they have posted across the forums lately
Did he bust? or whats his chip count?

Wow seems like Dnegs is not the only one around who should be working on their mental.
You should try out that meditation thing Jungleman has been telling u guys. And get off the vegan diet bros, nutrient depletion does not help staying level headed.
He was up to 160k going into the last level of the day. He was on pokergo feature table for much of the day
I've always felt that players who have tilt issues can still be much more successful playing tournaments than cash games.
Obviously, to quote you know who, -not- tilting is better than tilting, everything else being equal.
But tilt is generally less of a problem in tournaments, especially if you tend to tilt after losing a couple big pots in a row, because when this happens in a tournament (at least a NL tournament), you're usually out of the tournament, and are free to rage from the rail.
The biggest risk in tilting is if it causes you to dust off several more buy-ins in a cash game, but this scenario doesn't present itself nearly as often in tournaments.
So a player who plays well when they are running well but poorly when they are running poorly could still do well in tournaments. Because you have to run well to succeed in a tournament anyway. If you run poorly, you're generally going to brick the tournament no matter how well you play.
Granted, this might not apply nearly so much early in the Main Event where you are deep enough to survive a few beats.
Hes been running so far above EV during his career that losing a few 58/42 flips in a row is unheard of for him. Even during these last few years where he supposedly has had a very bad run you never see him get those truly sickening bad beats against him - like losing to a 1outer in a massive spot on the final table of a 50k. He gets those in his favor.
Fml. Now he thinks he's invented the 3 bet. Had to turn off the last 2 vlogs. He's really starting to annoy me. Especially with that stupid voice he puts on.

You mean the open tax? He said it is more of a exploit hes saving for high rollers... XD
But then pads opens UTG+1 and Dnegs in BB decides to flat AKo. Well I guess thats fine deep stacked even in theory and even more so against the best player on the table.
AT6r check call
AT6Axxhh he decides to donk?
We are supposed to donk board pair turns when it favours our range, but not on the ace cmon? Especially with AK just keep trapping.
Well it worked because pads just blasts a raise with air, so well played I guess. But then dnegs 3bet jams over the top and I guess pads could find a fold with his Ax hands at this point.
What range do you think Pads checks back flop with and how much of that will fold to a turn probe ?

He just coined a term for it. He actually was talking about this play a lot last year during the series. I think he called it the "Brazilian 3bet" or something like that because only the Brazilians were doing it. I guess he has found a way to work it into his own game in the past year.
Basically a very small 3bet ip that has close to 0 FE with the goal of playing a larger pot IP while keeping your opponent's range really wide.
Anyone else think it’s kind of weird that DNegs announces to the world on his vlog that his wife is on day 2 of her period?

Is that some exploit vs fish to isolate them and play big pots in position?
It is GTO to 2-2.5x 3bet IP but is it the combination of short stacka and ICM? So close to the bubble and final tables mostly only? Short stack chipev 3bet wants to go close to 3x still?

especially when he starts doing that "Daniel Daniel..." bit with the heavy canadian accent...he literally does it in every video and i just cant take it anymore so I'm thankful there are time breakdowns and lately i have just been watching certain parts of a video.

he's voices, impersonations and "comedy" make my ears bleed but overall he puts out some good content.

I think its for deep stacked play early in tourneys without ICM pressure. Instead of going from 2.5bb to 7.5-8bb like normal, you go from 2.5bb to like 4.5bb. Vs the right opponents I can see this printing money. Not sure how its an high roller exploit though, except maybe GTO guys who have never studied it might not react well in the moment.
You do kinda see exploit "metas" come and go in the high roller scene. But its more about getting players out of their study, once these "exploits" get studied they stop working and someone else comes up with a new idea that will work for a bit until it gets figured out.
First time i saw that at serious stakes was a few years ago. "Romeo pro" on Pokerstars used those sizings at highroller final tables, even when being oop.
Was funny to see people adjust to that, like bencb 4betting to a tiny size like 7.5bb with A3o, then folding to a shove with just 8bb behind. Of course that made sense due to ICM and other shortstacks at the table, i guess.
High rollers have been using that strategy for years once ICM gets important.. Its nothing new. Using it deep stacked before ICM comes into play makes little sense in theory. You achieve more with a bigger size because A more fold equity with bluffs and B bigger pots on average with your good hands = more value. Giving your opponent a better prize to call your 3b is hardly going to be a good "exploit" against anyone.
That said, I liked how he played the AK hand against Pads (up until the 3b jam). He knows that he is at a range disadvantage and with an underrepped hand it makes sense that a good player will try to attack a theoretically nonsense turn donk. This is the kind of plays DNegs is actually pretty good at - thinking on the fly how his specific opponent will react to his play and trying to use that to outlevel.
The 3b jam was super bad though. He really thinks someone like Pads wont see through him and fold everything including AQ v his jam? DNegs is the kind of player who has 0 bluffs in spots like that and lets Pads give up 100% of his bluffs.
Daniel doing good work as a cultural ambassador on the tv table.
