Agreed Chance was excellent.

thx for the posts about Tuchman. i feel better about my decision to not sub for this year's Main

also, i haven't heard anything and Shulman and Ali ... are they not doing the late-night gig this year? a shame if they aren't

Schulman still in 122k

Mike Matusow bitching on twitter that day 2 latereg on Main Event is unfair.

It is so far from the money still so it cant be any advantage to latereg for sure? I mean only for bad players and amateurs it is but thats ok, we want the massive fields for it.

Every good poker player must have better chances of cashing or making a deep run via playing day 1 deep stacked against nit fishes?

.... the real hardcore poker fans. I'd say that audience would rather see named players playing than lower grade celebs.

No. I'd actually rather see a bunch of Kevin Pollacks than Kristof Vogelsangs any day of the week. I'd love the chatter, the award-winning bluffs, the smiles, outright shenanigans of the amateurs hamming it up and yacking on their way to bigger chip stacks, and just the overall funner atmosphere. Say something funny or interesting, for crying out loud. It's a human game.

When I want to watch an uncomfortable, cringey prison yard staring contest, I'll watch last year's super high roller bowl.

Make poker fun like it used to be.

if i'm not mistaken, they did the late night gig in past years on day 1s and the day 2 Nick wasn't playing in (i could be wrong tho)

I thought we were past the point of stereotyping South East Asian people as all looking the same but no, let’s call them all KPop.

taiwanese are not southeast asian, nor are koreans

Ali and Nick are supposed to be doing the night shift on days 5-8. Obviously that could change if Nick is still in then.

I wonder what most players think about the # of entries being higher than last year, but 1st place being $2MM less.

1st and 2nd are down. 6th thru 9th went up a little.

Honestly if they are going to take money off the top, then I think it needs to go towards the bottom. Increase min cash from $15k to $20k-$25k

Otherwise just let 1st place keep getting ridiculously larger as they hopefully continue breaking the record each or every few years.

Flatter payout structure is better; less variance for everyone. Nobody is going to be making the decision to enter or not based on "well, it's only $10M on top this year compared to $15M last year."

Can someone explain to me this passage of the following Poker News article on the pay-out structure?

a min-cash is worth $15,000. With a new payout structure at the 2024 WSOP, most min-cashes during the series have been worth twice the buy-in, but an exception was made in the Main Event for tax purposes.

How would the tax implications of a mincash in the Main Event be any different than a any of the other $10k events, which all had mincashes of $20,000?

This is really smart and good thing for main event. Over 5k winnings are taxable in US but for 5k profit you dont need to pay tax

You still "need to pay tax" you just don't get a w2g.

Other 10k has much smaller field and more pro heavy probably.

Processing hundreds of w2g after the Bubble would be a nightmare I think.

I think the bulk of that money is going to more people making the money . I think something like 250 more people min cash this year . 250 x 15,000 = about 4 million

Agree, although you didn't get chatter/shenanigans out of Pollak, either, yet he seemed to be the only reason that table was chosen. And as stated before, I say this as a fan of Pollak the comedian. The producers' choice to feature him must have been quite baffling to poker fans not old enough to really know who he is. ("Mr. Katz, our data suggests we have a lot of crossover with the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel crowd...")

That said, it would be pretty cool to have someone on the staff roam the room for a lively table – even if it's full of unknowns – then make the executive decision to bring them over to the featured stage. One of my most enjoyable experiences in poker was at a tourney at Stones years ago. Those who followed the Postle saga might remember a player named Alisha Duckworth featured on the Stones Live streams. She single-handedly made our table one of most lively in the room, so much so that I was bummed when I got moved to another seat just an hour or so in. What we had there is what I'd like to see on the PG streams. Probably hard to predict, though.

Make poker fun like it used to be.

From what you describe, you shouldn't watch it live. I say this all the time, but poker isn't all that different from what it used to be, it's just presented differently.

Thats the truth? If you dont need to fill out the form you can just pocket the money and forget to self report it lol that is what most people do right and its possible because you dont need to fill the report

Could be on the money bubble by the last level tonight, looking forward to the coverage from today onwards. There's a definite change in the play when the financial reality of the situation is in the players heads.

Agreed, it gets better and better from here on out.

For me 27 down to 9 is the best poker of the year. The difference between a nice payday and life-changing money for a lot of players. Real poker - like Fantasy Island-**** where you're playing the devil for your sole.

100% it is the best watch of the whole year on Pokergo. Let's hope they dont **** it up like last year by splitting it over two nights, really detracted from the whole thing.

This is why I've never really paid that much attention to the Day 1s or even Day 2s. That said, there have been some insanely cool hands to come about from the two featured tables this year. I can only assume this means there are dozens and dozens of those happening throughout the first two days, and we just happened to see those because they were streamed.

Goddamit - *soul

This is how you get to 100k posts kids.
