Mateos the GOAT many bros go broke there

by freedom 35 k

I know no spoilers but when appropriate can someone post the mateos fold HH?

Basic gist of it is that he folded KK vs. AA on QTxx board on the turn.

What a fold from Mateos

by SootedPowa k

Wow what a sick fold

by wheatrich k

Mateos had enough chips to throw that away. Hard to call that deep when you're gonna face a huge river shove too.

I don't usually get excited about folds, but that was an amazing read.

Oh wow, I just caught up to that hand. Bear in mind, I had already seen all of your posts, so I knew he gets away (although I figured it was on the flop). And yet with all of that, still impressive.

I now kind of wonder if the producer has a general decree of "thou shalt not cut away from a hand in progress." Given the holdings, you'd think they would have left the QJ vs 44 vs K9 hand to pick up the action at the other table.

In any case, I appreciate the talent catching us up on the preflop action we missed. Maybe in the future, PokerGo will add some picture-in-picture ability for just such an occasion.

In the past it has been clarified that "no spoilers" only applies up to the point its aired on Pokergo, after that its fair game to be posted. I'm not a mod though.

Only from memory so apologies if its not entirely accurate but they were the two chip leaders at the table with about 4.7m each effective to start the hand. Stream action started on the flop with 1.4m in the middle . AA had 4 bet pre and bet the Q42 flop which had a diamond draw. KK called. T non diamond turn and AA led with anot

Cheers, TY.

In terms of raw skill, out of the remaining players, seems like Ivey, Mateos, Song, Lonis, are the top ones.

Lin, Barbero, Rast, Ponakovs, Kim, Ding, Tang, Weng all play high rollers as well.

There are some sleeper picks out there like Kfir Nahum, Francis Anderson, and Sami Bechached who have good results in large field events.

May not be as technically sound as the high rollers, but might be more effective at exploiting a mixed field.

Poker gods might be rewarding Mateos for that KK fold.

Edit - or ****ing not.

There is no God.

FFS I had started to really root for Mateos after that fold, just because I wanted to watch him play and that bs happens.

I get the AK shove vs a top pro like that but I thought it was a little too many chips at this stage to do it, but it worked. This game is brutal.

kings and aces in a few hands and you lose your entire top stack coming in, fun game

Chip and a chair.

Omg cmon

This is why I should never play the main. I would never recover from that. I'd basically be a homeless crack addict within a few years.

Happens to me online a dozen times a day. lol

I think Sylvia nailed it. Against the vast majority of the field, get 100bbs in with AKs seems like a punt, but Mateos is one of the few players to be up against where it's best to just rip it.

Yeah I would def have ripped AKs in pre vs him there. Your always going to be outmatched against him post flop or in small/medium pots so better to gamble huge with a decent hand like that.

Yes there is.

Did it have to be runner runner though?

I don’t like how the commentators acted like Mateos busted with that hand. He’s still in and could make a come back. Not likely, but they’re talking like he busted out.

You could hear in their voices they were as gutted at it as this thread is. They know he's one of the big draws left for the stream.

Lon tilts me so bad. I guess it’s not his fault that they keep bringing him back year after year, but I find myself blaming him anyway. I would actually—and I can’t believe I’m going to say this—rather listen to Tuchman.

Is it just me or has the guy next to Lonis just changed from all pink to all orange?

Edit:
So weird.
Once camera shows him in pink, another shows orange.

:( :( :(

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

rip

Put Ivey back in IMO
