Right but you’re not trying to win the entire party, you’re trying to win 5 states where Biden’s support among black voters is at best irrelevant and at worst not enough
Take Michigan for instance. Biden is a dog to win despite a 47/34 lead in registered voters dem versus Republican in no small part because young voters in Michigan despise him for Gaza. Black voters make up 8% of registered Dems and won’t deliver the ground needed to make up the gap
If Gaza is the reason Michigan will be lost due
You do have to convince the whole party. The only way to get on the ballot as a democrat is to win delagates at the convention.
I realize a lot of the dems are saying they won't support him, but if it gets down to it and he really won't budge they'll come around. The alternative is monumentally worse.

This takes seems pretty LOL. Biden agreed to be the Vice-President. I suspect that every governor and every Democrat in Congress would have agreed to be VP if they had been asked. And Biden played the usual role of a VP.
I have no reason to believe that older black voters thought Biden was unusually subservient as VP. Nor do I have any reason to believe that they would be especially inclined to support a presidential candidate who was an overly servile VP.
The previous administration was Bush/Chenyey. The fact that the Obama administration did not have the same perception with the president being an idiot and the VP in charge was not a given. I never said Biden did anything remarkable.

it's my understanding that vp is actually a pretty undesirable lol position in normal situations where the president isn't on death's door. you don't have much power, you aren't involved in governing, you're mostly just a figurehead of sorts to represent the administration and give speeches that nobody cares about and such. i think the hbo show "veep" was a surprisingly accurate depiction of what it's like
"did the president call?" "no."
in situations where the candidate is ~80 and could drop dead at any moment the calculus is a little different though
their greatest value is probably what they bring to the ticket in terms of getting elected in the first place, but once you're actually in office ..... lol

the lawsuits were made by conservative white people. and it's still racism.
you can tell it's racism because the real thing holding back people from getting into those ivy league schools is all the underqualified white legacy students. but the same people that REALLY care about affirmative action don't seem to care about that.

and really if you look at it, the only yeses just rode the coattails of extremely popular presidents (reagan and obama, and clinton nearly got there)

I’m sure kamala took the VP job because: 1. She had presidential aspirations to begin with and it’s better than being a senator from california and 2. She assumed biden would be 1 term and that’s it with him backing her as the Democratic candidate

but we're talking about who might run with her, now, if she becomes the nominee. seems unlikely that we'll get 4 years of brandon, 8 years of harris, and then whoever she'd pick will be looking good for president in 2032. call me cynical but i don't think there's a 25% chance of dem party utopia rule on the horizon here. plus that person would probably have to win a contested primary. if i was safe as a governor or senator somewhere i'd probably just stay put, but a guy like that cooper dude from north carolina getting term-limited out might as well go for it.
