This was back in like 2013-2015. I have no idea if any links still exist. APD may know.
We were unofficially like the 73rd highest poker podcast at the time. Right in between a guy shuffling cards (#74) and some dogs playing poker (#72 - not the painting, just the sound of a bunch of dogs playing poker).
Above EV? I downloaded four from circa July-August 2015. Just found them on my laptop.
LOLs incoming for sure.
FW - check out pg&c you will spot it
Bip - I am doing my best to hold off the long term effects of time. Unfortunately the battle gets more challenging every year.
Just weighed in at 230 - haven’t exercised in 3 years. I think it is time to get back to it.
3 year bulk phase complete.
Who is still working out ITT?
Just started back up at the gym last week. It wasn’t the greatest of weeks for eating/exercising, but I’ll get there. The goal is to be super fit for snowboarding season.
i gained some weight in covid confined to a small apartment and spending a lot of my idle time eating
then when i knew i was leaving china, due to lack of available flights, it became a "maybe i'll be leaving next week" for about 3-4 months
during this time, i made a point to eat as much amazing chinese food as i could because "it'll be the last time i can have x, y, z" so i was genuinely have 2x dinners some evenings and then time would pass, i'd still be in china so i'd go ahead and rinse and repeat eating all my favorite foods in large quantities again
i am usually around a 220 baseline for most of my adult life with temporary swings into the 230s and the 210s
weighed myself back in usa#1 and discovered i was 255
have since gotten down to 230, have another 10 pounds or so to go to get back to my playing weight - big incentive to do those bike rides is so i can look marvelous when naked again
I built a bare bones but functional home gym to remove friction from working out but I’m having discipline issues.
Flat Bench, squat rack, olympic bar, kids 15 lb barbell, pull up bar, adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells, 180 lbs of iron plates.
Even 2x weekly is enough but that seems insurmountable sometimes due to my mental problems. 4x weekly is ideal and I feel like a machine even after two weeks of that
running a push pull split as follows
Day 1
Squats
Romanian split squats
Bench
Strict press or standing overhead press (not really sure what the difference is)
Shoulder dumbbell raises front and side
Day 2
Deadlift
Pull ups
Bent over rows with barbell or dumbbells
Kb swings
Dumbbell pull overs
I also hit about 300 golf balls a week and play 9-36 holes a week in season
Currently near lifetime high weight of 230

Me always.
I stopped rowing seriously in Feb after an intense 3 yr period where I was rowing 5x a week and 7-8 sessions total. I’ve been basically doing nothing but weights for 5 months now. Counter intuitively, I’ve dropped 20lbs and am lighter than I’ve been in 20yrs. Currently 178-180lbs and am in 6pack territory.
I’m drinking 75% less alcohol and just eating less and cleaner food and I fast 17 hours 3-4x a week. And the lack of intense cardio has meant I’m less hungry and find the fasting easier. I’ve been in maintain mode for the past 2 months and so far that has been easy to do
Definitely happy to have dropped the weight and I don’t miss rowing at all.
did some sleuthing trying to find your podcast
came across this lol
What is playing weight? As in - what sport?
Skip - not sure what you did that gets you banned even from Elon’s X.. [emoji23]
FWIW that was before Elon had X. The old regime did not appreciate my sense of humor. The final infraction on that account was using a Goodfellas gif in reply to some vegan protesters.
Then they got my second account after 1-2 infractions and the Twitter fascists figured out I had been lol-banned. Currently alive and well on account 3 lol.
FWIW I am back on my good health routine. Due to my back issues, I have some limitations, but I am on a good cardio/yoga routine. Working some light weight training back in.
My diet was not great but not terrible coming out of basketball season into the summer. But I am back on the great tips I got from RandalGraves and his All In Fitness.
That was not a happy detour.
That was her. Skimmed that thread. Very sad tale.

I came back to it in earnest last year, have a setup with weights in my basement, currently working out two days per week.
Although the weight I am lifting seems laughable compared to my gym rat days 25 years ago, the gains from those days left a foundation behind, and I have guns again.

My friend had/has a lot of back problems and got very into DDP’s yoga program. He went from barely working out ever to not missing a day in over 3 years. Considering the back issues, maybe it could be worth checking out.

I broke my back in 07 and once I was done with the gentle swimming rehab I got deeply into yoga and compound lifts. Pretty much good as new.

That's what I use!
I am also friends with DDP thanks to some mutual acquaintances.
is ddp doodoopoker or another ddp?
I've thought about doing DDP yoga, I did pilates and kettle bells for a period of time. Swings can **** with your feet though.

I've been telling the young people I know to get into a yoga/stretching/core strengthening routine as soon as they can. I didn't discover this until in my 40s.
Went from constant discomfort and occasional inability to work/move much to a pretty pain-free life.
Also rickroll, sorry if I abandoned that trans visibility thread. I'm transgender and don't want to get into an argument online about that if you participate in this chat thread.
