MD on track to complete the SPC race today. She's been pumping out 100 mile days on the regular since Ohio. AB slowing down a bit, and the sport folks plugging away states behind.
Flavor Flav being the one funding the USA Women's Water Polo team is a collab I *NEVER* saw coming.
Huge congrats to MD! Second in the women's division of the Great American Wheelrace and only one besides SPC to stick by the rules all the way through instead of switching to sport mode.
That is true dedication and perseverance to follow through with completing the distance
In other news, I just got myself a man purse.

You didn't have one? Where did you keep your tablet, charging cords, earphones, eye drops, allergy pills, hangover pills, tums, chap stick, eye drops, chewing gum, 100$ in rubles, $100 in gold?
(mine was stolen with the car).
So since they've been running the quads+ high hand promo in our room, I've hit exactly one over about ~600 hours (making just two others but they had already been won on the day). Running far below EV in these things compared to the number the other regs have binked, and some crude mathing suggests it has cost me close to 5 of my small BIs.
Anyhoo...
So I go to my ex hockey teams after-golf-tourney BBQ on Friday night. As it gets late, a lol poker game breaks out between the 9 of us stragglers still hanging around. It's a silly $20 BI that gets you some chips for lols / bargs. Due to the overall drunkedness / ineptness, we're rockin' about 10 hands per hour over the two hour session. In one hand, I make quads and win about tree fiddy in real $.

A fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with that stuff!

I think I finally figured out your game… You have the nuts a higher % than any other poker player to exist. Hence the reason you feel you’re running below expectation hitting high hand promos.
I’ve hit the winners side of a bad beat one time, and that was after 15 years of playing with a VERY low qualifier. Hitting promos and bad beats are hard.

I e lost twice with quads to a straight flush in a room with no BBJ

I'm just going to point out that while the odds of hitting quads is about 4000:1, that assumes that you will see 5 cards and you're not folding any pairs pf. Since you're playing probably 4 hands an hour at best and probably not getting to showdown even 50% of the time, you're actually running hot in getting quads.

Sir, our boy hasn't played 4 hands in an hour since his limit days.
And even then he was drunk and on tilt
Poker is dumb
Got coolered and best handed for 5 straight hours, was down heaps. Decided not to add on as I felt like I was a few more away from shifting away from A to B/C game in a tough lineup.
A few minutes later, more than double up and booked one of my bigger wins this year.
Total variance.

Oh yeah, I'm very aware that looser players (i.e. literally every other player in the room), as well as the cons of my LRR method (which often ends a hand preflop that a raise wouldn't have), will have an advantage over me regarding making high hands.
Just kinda found it funny that I've hit as ~many high hands in my ~600 hours in a high hand promo environment as I have in ~2 hours of a lol home game for cheezeburgers.

Now I almost feel bad about also complaining that I've hit 7 royal flushes in ~8400 hours of live play, but not a single one during the ~600 hours of high hand promo.

7 royals in live is stupid run good. I do not know, nor have heard of, a single person who has had 7 royals in Unlimited Texas Hold Them.
I’ve had 1 royal and made bout 3bb

My notes say I hit a royal flush in my first ~30 hours of playing 2/4 Limit.
Talked to a pro I play with recently, my guess is that he's easily north of 20K live hours. He said he's had 2 royals and never been at a BBJ table. Although he is leading the ~recent high hand promos at 20+.

Ok. 7 royals is nutso.
Doctor's office just called me to book an appointment to follow up my kidney stone issues.
For November 19.
Of 2025.
Which I confirmed three times just to make sure ("like, 20 months from now?").

nope, my home casino The Star in Sydney. They had a Flop a Royal promo for a long time instead. In the same session i lost with Quads to a Straight flush for a 5k pot at 5/10 when the Promo was $120k and then flopped 80% of a Royal, turned the Royal and won a $120 pot
was a really fun day

Canadian health care is good and inexpensive, but it will never be fast.
You might be a favourite to piss them out by then.
