the war will not end when Hamas surrenders. Israel will continue murdering children, stealing land, and torturing people to death.

if this is true why did the war cause a massive increase in violence? are you saying that you don’t care about harm reduction at all?

fighting will save more life in the long run as this Israeli Jewish person explains very well here

Thanks for saving me the replies Bill.Like I said, it seems impossible that Nazis--a militarized majority-- believed they were defending themselves against Jews--a most unarmed minority. But you see the process on full display here. Military snipers shoot 5 year olds through the head every day in self defense. (Or you can go the denial route, as some do with The Holocaust and

Children die in wars, it’s a horrific reality and a reason to not invade your neighbor, take hostages and hold them for a year and counting. Do you expect us to start wringing our hands and questioning if Israel should exist?

There are extensive reports, linked to in this thread, that it is the IDF that is using human shields. They're making kids check tunnels for booby traps. Please link to a report of Hamas using human shields. And the kids killed in the very solid NYT report were targeted in the skulls.A conversation with the doctor who wrote the Times piece:

Hamas’ use of human shields.

I’m not watching a two hour long video right now. Can you summarize the relevant position so that I don’t strawman you?

sure. fighting will save more life in the long run.

sure. fighting will save more life in the long run.

Not to get off topic, but this doesn’t apply to Ukraine? I do understand they are different situations.

it may very soon if Russia imposes a similar blockade and occupation. ofc, there were offramps to avoid that. it seems now to be inevitable.

So Israel is directly taking over distributing aid shipments to Northern Gaza. Of course we all know how this eventually ends. Hamas will attack the soldiers giving aid, the soldiers will respond, and the Islamist propaganda machine will make up a bunch of nonsense about IDF executing civilians lining up for aid, and all the Islamist sycophants will eat it up hook, line and sinker.

ftr, i did listen to the whole video at 1.5 speed and enjoyed it.

I'm not going to watch it all tonight - it's too late, but it does look good. I had to stop when he said prisons are not places that contain or warehouse violence, "prisons produce violence". It's what Kropotkin said, "Prisons are universities of crime".

True enough imo, but, good luck getting people to believe/agree with it.

You’re missing a step in the process. Hamas attacked and Israel chose to respond in a way that would kill many innocents, including children. Do you think the U.S. would have advised them to take a counterterrorism approach if they thought it would lead to Israel’s destruction?

I disagree that Israel has chosen to respond in a way that aims to kill many civilians. Any military operation against Hamas is going to carry with it a high chance for civilian casualties. It’s an integral part of their (Hamas) strategy. Civilians both provide cover from enemy fire, and help to garner international sympathy when they are inevitably hit in a crossfire. I’m not sure what exactly is leading to Israel’s destruction so I can’t comment on that, but I think the US more or less supports how Israel has handled things since Oct 7th.

I’m certain I’ve asked before, but what is your proposed alternative?

20% of Israelis are Arabs,

by mongidig

So do you support the terrorists or neither side?

No, of course I don't support the terrorist groups on either side of the conflict.

Do you support the IDF terrorists?

Looks likely they got sinwar

I'm looking at the photos of the body. Whoever it is, he definitely is expired.

Crazy times.

I am sure Hamas will quit now

Never been a better time to declare victory and wrap this up.

Must be an exciting day for the person who replaces Sinwar now. Those 3 days on earth are going to be top notch.

We've got the active duty IDF in this thread who acknowledged that they set up free fire zones where they shoot anything that moves.

Do you just do the photo so that people don't read this part?

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly rejected the idea of Israeli civilians resettling Gaza. But critics fear the premier’s prosecution of the war could lead in that direction, pointing to the latest military operations in northern Gaza, which have included mass evacuation orders and little to no humanitarian aid allowed in for nearly two weeks. Israel says it is trying to prevent the revival of Hamas in the area and that there are no ulterior motives for the north Gaza operation.

The US has spoken out against the resettlement of Gaza, and included that stance in one of its principles for the post-war management of Gaza. The Biden administration also called the messaging of the previous Nachala-led conference “inflammatory and irresponsible.”"

There are definitely 10 disturbed ministers trying at this. The Israeli right contains some people way right. Like their own Marjorie Taylor Greene's.

But do us all a favor and at least post what the PREVAILING sentiment is, both at the top, and with allies. And then we'll see.

Well, there is the matter of the 100 remaining hostages (or however many still alive, which is probably a much much smaller number).

It just sucks that corrupt Islamist gangs have all the real power in West Bank and Gaza. So theoretical real leaders that actually care about the people and legitimate peacekeepers (UNRWA is corrupt and just makes things work) cant come in and rebuild.

the prevailing sentiment, from what I can tell, is that Israel is going to occupy the North at the very least. I dont really care what Netanyahu, a known liar like all politicians, says.

your comparison to MTG is disingenuous from everything that I have read about Israeli society and their support of this war.
