I have zero cognitive dissonance.

I don't post about Canada because I don't like thinking about my time there. I have mostly moved on from that time of my life, but I do have family there and I go back to watch hockey with my family on occasion. Internet conversations here and elsewhere are utterly ridiculous to me because they are always filled with people who don't even know where Canada is that have a lot of ignorant opinions about the place and I just don't suffer that crap. I really only talk about Canada in places that most Americans don't ever go. This place doesn't fit that bill. At all.

But even for that I still don't talk about Canada much because my childhood and early adult life there was not a happy time of my life. I came to the United States for 3 reasons: my wife, research opportunities in my chosen field, and putting distance between me and my past trauma.
