It's not the type of issue I could be arsed researching. My response was in reply to a post that implied something dark and nefarious was going on by netflix. And lol at "unhinged bigotry".

The key is to never let your lack of knowledge prevent you from expressing strong opinions. And yeah commenting negatively on the content of movies you know nothing about because Palestinians made them is bigoted.

by Luciom

No they didn't. But some specific names did, and the catalyzer was BUD which is still lower than pre-covid (which is insane given how the market went overall). And you know that, but you feel the need to deny that because you can't admit some companies did exceed in wokeness and paid a big price for it and so on.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/qai/2023/01...

And entire article about the tech sell off including Netflix and meta that doesn’t talk about wokeness at all. Maybe they need to hire more political nut job hacks?

Like do you honestly think I think your analysts is reasonable and am lying? Everything I said about you being a hack I believe and you prove it on a variety of topics even though I grade you on a massive curve.

I never commented on the actual movies, never mind their content. The key is to never let your lack of reading comprehension prevent you from expressing strong opinions.

Palestinians aren't a race and my comment wasn't racist. Speculating that a corporation doesn't wish to be attached to controversy possibly due to arguably genocidal slogans isn't racist. Even if you personally and subjectively really think it really ought to be.

I meant your lack of knowledge on why Netflix removed the movies. I know you’re not a researcher or thinker or whatever but putting in your own bigoted reasons in for Netflix is bigoted.

Yeah to which I counterpointed by stating I couldn't be arsed researching due to the issue not being interesting enough to me and again my response was to a post implying dark and sordid reasons for Netflix pulling films. There's that reading comprehension issue of yours again not preventing you from expressing strong opinions.

by jalfrezi

Stop making things up. Citation please.

I said "maybe". I haven't seen these films so I don't know for sure. I'd be shocked if a good number of these films didn't focus on the "resistance" in which terrorism is a big part of.

Market dropped 20, tech dropped 30, netflix dropped 75%.

40% in a single day in april 2022 iirc.

They dropped because of falling subscribers.

That's a company specific problem (remember those are growth stocks which are supposed to significantly increase revenue yoy to justify their valutations). And a significant portion of that drop was wokeness, declining quality of the content.

They found themselves with problems related to generation of content because filming during covid was harder. They filled that with insane wokeness (like randomly putting trans characters in the top 3-5-8 characters of every single tv show). People hated that and canceled their subscriptions.

They listened, reduced that a lot, and got their customers back and more. Plus of course everything else that happened with the market overall and so on.

You are clouded in your judgment by the fact you are a leftist. You refuse to even try to follow a logic argument written by someone who isn't a leftist. That's your choice

1950

(that was a parliamentary election or something with the public elections in 1949 - something like that)

The last Iranian election before the coup was in 1952, and Prime Minister Mosaddegh stopped the vote count before most of the provincial seats had reported, because his party's support was in the urban areas and not the provinces. The Majlis (parliament) was convened with only 79 -- though some claim as many as 88 -- seats filled out of 132. After a bit of to-and-fro in the next few months involving a resignation and then a return to office, Mosaddegh voted himself emergency dictatorial powers, which he later renewed and looked set fair to continue indefinitely. He was popular in some quarters and not others, and he was actually overthrown in 1953 by Iranians who supported other parties. Although British and particularly US assets were involved in fomenting the coup, I think it's now considered that Kermit Roosevelt, who wrote the book on it, exaggerated his own and the CIA's role.

Right you don’t know anything but since they were Palestinian films you made up an anti Palestinian justification. The word for that is bigoted.

Wrong. I have no idea if the article I linked was written by a leftist. I am criticizing analysis written by a moron. It’s not political to say interest rates and the overall market coupled with specifics about Tesla Meta and Netflix caused them to crash. Pretending like they were all woke and now less so is post hoc nonsense.

Can you take this incredibly stupid argument that you have zero justification for to some other thread? I mean you said it yourself it’s about the content being garbage and not about wokeness. They had a bunch of high profile flops (and some good shows too tbf like You and Ozark), but one of their top shows was literally about a fictional female chess grandmaster.

You don’t have any actual justification because you’re not comparing it to similarly situated companies in the industry, just pointing at dips and saying “hurr durr woke did it” like some maga dipshit.

And I’m not some woke leftist either I just hate people that try to pigeonhold a narrative for no reason.

You are like people putting pineapple on pizza and ketchup on pasta and thinking it's immoral to do otherwise. It's impossible to discuss anything with you guys. Have fun

Ketchup would be immoral.

Pro-Palestinian student activists denounce Penn, call Oct. 7 Hamas attacks ‘a necessary step’

The Philadelphia-wide coalition of pro-Palestinian activists at Penn and other city colleges said that the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel were a “necessary step” and that its march near campus last week served to commemorate the Palestinian resistance on the attacks’ one-year anniversary.

“The people of Gaza have been suffocated by a brutal military blockade, subjected to constant ruthless bombing campaigns, denied the right to import lifesaving medicine and clean water, and forced to rely on foreign aid since 2007,” the Philadelphia Students for Justice in Palestine Coalition wrote in a statement published on Instagram on Oct. 12.

“The breaching of the literal prison walls that were imposed to subjugate and break the spirit of the Palestinian people was not merely a symbolic gesture of revolution, but a necessary step towards the liberation of a colonized people,” the group continued.

I think it’s really sad that people think they have to support Oct 7th in order to advocate for Palestinians. This is just going to further muddy the waters of criticism against Israel. In fact, this is what every far right zionist wants to see come out of pro-Palestine groups.

right...well...when you put it like that

It's not my fault your analysis was a joke and anyone who can read can see it's wrong.

Yeah, you can read what people including Netflix itself were saying at the time.

Pretty much everything but we need to stop offending anti woke morons.

"This necessary step" is going to end up with the deaths of tens of thousands of their people along with the nearly complete destruction of their cities. It's not surprising that they continue to be victims when they continue to choose violence against a much stronger enemy. Perhaps some day they will learn their lesson. Until then their living conditions will only get worse. This is not smart.

As part of Israel's retaliatory action against Iran, 12 "planetary mixers" that are a critical component of Iran's ballistic missile program were attacked, according to three Israeli sources
Why it matters: The "planetary mixers" are used to produce solid fuel for long-range ballistic missiles and their destruction severely impairs Iran's ability to replenish its missile stockpile
Israeli sources said that this is highly sophisticated equipment that Iran cannot produce on its own and must purchase it in China. Remanufacturing of this equipment may take at least a year
Israeli sources stated that in the operation four S300 air defense batteries were attacked that were in strategic locations that protected Tehran and nuclear and energy facilities in Iran
Also, a factory for the production of UAVs was attacked and a "symbolic" attack was carried out on a facility in the city of Perchin where in the past activity for the research and development of nuclear weapons was carried out

It would be nice if this results in fewer exports to Russia as well.

First post I see this morning. Oh boy.

Your worldview is no different in this respect. The real difference is that donkey party voters such as yourself absorb and uncritically regurgitate mainstream propaganda while others try to think for themselves.

It should be noted that the "think for themselves" is literally the same logic flat earthers use.

Some people think badly which is why nobody should think

Some people think badly which is why nobody should think

That is an ad absurdum argument.

Everybody should critically think. But claiming all factual info brought from the media is false, or should be disregards, is a slippery slope into flat eath.

Cenk of TYT is a master of this false logic concept. he keeps arguing not to believe anything from the traditional media, while giving partial facts, at best.

I hoped i cleared my point

decided to listen this weekend to some Katie Halper and Owen Jones, among others. I did find some of their arguments baffling.

on the one hand, it is stated as a fact without any doubt, that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.

on the other hand they claim that Israel is losing the war.

I do see some kind of logical path that the two statements can co-exits, but I do find it hard to reason with.

also, after spending a couple of hours listening to them, I can relate better to some posters ITT. I understand how can one reach certain conclusions. all you have to do is ignore facts, reason, empathy for the other side of the conflict.

historically, its rare to do genocide and lose a war. oh wait.
