Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
ofc you diverse, but please lets say on subject.
I will like to give you all an example, im sure most of you are unaware of, that explains the lengh in which you ensure civilians safety, and why we have somewhat of low death rate.
In Israel, any new building that is being built, and any renovation that includes a an addition of at least 12 meters to the building, residential or not, it is mandated by The Planning and Construction Law, to build also a safe room with at least 30 centimeters of hard
Everyone here who reads and pays attention knows that Israel requires safe rooms and shelters. Most certainly jalfrezi did know this.
Pretty racist to assume that he’s a European Jew just because he lives in Israel. You realize many Jewish Israelis are also indigenous? You also realize that some of the Arab Israelis might not be indigenous to Israel as well?
Also hope you’re not US or Canada because by your lights you should probably leave the country if you’re not indigenous.
Honestly this might be the dumbest concept leftists try to import into the discussion, since none of you actually live by your own standards in that regard. No one possibly could because it’s all about how far back you track it. Before the Israelis became “colonizers” they were ethnically cleansed and forcibly converted by Arab Muslims, and before them they ethnically cleansed the Canaanites and before them probably someone else lived there.
This whole notion of trying to turn back the clock and figure out who really belongs there is just not productive to peace.
do they let the Arabs into those rooms?
Pretty surprising development here. Apparently this guy has a history of picking fights. I do think it was a coincidence in this situation though and he was a victim.
lol I just read that. kinda think it has little to do with I/P and more to do with the guy having some mental problems.
He is clearly not a well man. Jeff said it in the article but you really have to feel for those kids.
How can I possibly react to the last paragraph without calling you names? You quoted where I said he should have been left to drink his drink in peace and then you suggest I am saying the owner was justified?
I'll take the ban. You're a dumb mother****er.
Yes I'm aware what you said but that just sounds like a pat disclaimer and you're really implying he deserved it but can't outright say this so give said pat disclaimer. beforehand . Kinda like when racists make pat disclaimers like "hey I'm not racist and all BUT...."
The fact that you explode at the mere notion of this and wail I'm a dumb fuddermucker makes me think I'm not wrong either. Or else you just have serious anger management issues, which you should probably see someone over. Help you rise above things, so to speak. 😀
there are many arab business moguls.
my biggest client is an arab that has more land, buildings and different business, than any body I know.
one of my closest friends is an arab Israeli Doctor, that has a private clinic and employees many jews.
In this thread we periodically get the argument about how good you treat the Arabs and how much the Green Line Arabs love you. The great irony of this is that it completely undermines the argument for a Jewish ethno-state. If Arabs and Jews get along so well, why not make West Bank and Gaza Arabs into citizens and solve it all?

sorry, I dont engage with Nazi's
It's horrible to say and all, but I like radical honesty...emotionally, arguing in the thread affects me more than people on either side dying as long as I avoid pictures of mangled bodies. Multiple thousands of children die horrible deaths from disease and malnutrition every single day which are easily preventable. What people actually care about is not unrelated to human suffering, but it's certainly not just finding the suffering in the world and caring in direct proportion - not for most p
That's true and it's greatly exaggerated by what we focus on.
Some like to insist that out the focus on the plight of the palestinians over other desperate situations is because of antisemitism but I'd say ~all of it has been down to, like previously with South Africa, dedicated work to bring it to the public conciousness. It would be nice if we could focus on all problems at the same time but it doesn't seem possible for humans to do that.

The comparisons to South Africa are so hamfisted, and I don’t especially care that Mandela and his son think they are apt.
No two international situations are ever the same but Israel and apartheid South Africa are as near as damnit apart from the black population in South Africa being the large majority.

no they aren’t. arab israelis have equal rights to jewish israelis which makes the situation completely incomparable. Also, the WB and Gaza are considered their own government by Israel, they just occupy it. They don’t consider them second class citizens, they just aren’t citizens period.
I know, I know, cant trust him too, he was only there first hand
Infractions have gone out to several of you.
Please stop with the personal attacks…

To borrow a phrase from a recent BBC TV drama (Ludwig, starring David Mitchell), 'That's really not the legal loophole you think it is.'
