Gave it a quick listen and as expected just can't get into it / nothing iPodable for me. 8 songs in 49+ minutes averaging 6+ minutes per song, no up tempo quick pop ditties in this batch for sure.
Although always glad to see any old bands still doing their thing and putting out music, good for them.

As of when I left in 2017, Cripple Creek was pretty dead, but the games at the Midnight Rose were very soft. C-Springs also has a thriving homegame circuit. APD might be able to get you the hookup.

The Rose is somewhat going again. The game is dumb though. 1/2nl with a $4 bring in and a kill. They sometimes get 2/5 running.
Monarch in Blackhawk is always popping.

Lol.. yes. I think he’s the biggest game in town that I know of. Deep 2/5 and often times 5/10.
It’s pretty exclusive to the deep pockets and people who like to play big and wild.
Couldn’t tell you where it’s at, but could probably get in. That game has changed locations quite a bit. Remember when it used to be in the basement of those businesses by the Sinclair gas station? 😃

forgot to mention this one in the list of albums which i was surprised that i liked on a much later listening
their main hit, good, is definitely one of the weaker entries on the album, but i get why it was popular because it has a catchy hook
Got JR playing travel baseball and right now he’s in camp. Been in camp for two months-ish, once a week. This is his first go at competitive sports, he’s played two seasons of rec league where I had to play him at first a ton because he’s the only one to catch a ball consistently.
During throwing they put a ball on a tee and do multiple angle and balanced throws. I told him $1 each time he knocks the ball off the tee. Dude is up to $24 (far, far more than anyone in camp). Last session he hit 4 in a row. This week he hits 8, 2 of which knocked the tee into the air and tipped over. What turned into a fun game is looking like it’s going to cost me alot of money. The kid is scary accurate and has great throwing form. One of the coaches is a former MLB player and he looks over at me all the time with eyebrows raised.
The other night we were throwing a ball back and forth at each other and I started putting some weight behind the throws. I realized I needed to stop because he can throw hard enough now that he might hurt me. F me. 😃😃

Yeah, those "up tempo quick pop ditties" have always been rare for The Cure, though they put out enough of them that it's not a total shock when it happens.
I'm just amazed his voice is still solid. And I always liked the gothier side of their stuff with the lush almost orchestral feel anyway.
Hilarious donkament at my non-profit retreat this weekend. $20 Buy in, rebuys first hour, winner take all. Starting stack is 80bbs in level one. People are literally L/C J6o for a raise to 7bb and then calling down with bottom pair to hit 2p OTR, calling a 14xBB shove for half their stack with J9o, etc. They are also limp/calling AK and QQ.

$60, and out before the first hour. Last hand, 4 limps to me and I raise to something ridic with AJo. One caller. I flop NFD and two overs. V c/c to my cbet. Turn J, so now I have TPTK and NFD. He donks tiny. I shove for about 2/3 pot. He snaps with QQ, no FD.

get the ball with open space for the try and i go to take it to the house - the students are all hungover and tired from their game last night - they are also allowing us to win because the amount of bonus money we give them after the game is directly proportional to the amount we beat them by
so i start going for it, obviously nobody trying too hard to tackle me, i'm about 5 feet from glory and then feel myself stumbling, i pull my hamstring and fall over and then hop off the field - spend rest of homecoming limping around campus
today just laying low in my hotel room hoping a day laying on a motel bed watching football and doing dfs/live betting will help heal it back

I had a similar but way more embarrassing thing happen to me a long time ago. The final of a 7s tournament and I broke free with a few mins to go. Nobody even chasing me and I put one arm in the air and turn to smile at the supporters. Heels clip together and I fall and knock the ball on.
Fortunately we still won the game and the tournament but whenever I go back to my old club (it’s in the UK, so very rarely), I always get reminded of it

That reminds me of the last time I played the WSOP Super Seniors - guy limped UTG, I raised with KK to 4x, folded back to him he called. Flop rags no suit - he checks I bet 1/2 or 2/3 pot (can't remember). Turn blank he checks betpot he calls. Turn blank he checks I shove, he calls with AA.

no, i was like a half foot short - would have been kinda cool if i actually scored - funny moment not the embarassing event that it actually was, worst part was none of my teammates came in support because it was obvious i was going to make it that the students got the ball back as well
Adventure chick and I are currently in vegas boondoggling up a storm. She once again proved her grit and pruduced in major fashion. She had issues obtaining the trial bike and had under 20 hrs on it. The was a big deal b/c the body positioning and handling on it are massively different with the ass elevation, the head lowering and the overall tuck position. The race was halted 30 mins early due to sandstorms from 35mph+winds. She dropped the trial bike and hopped on her steel framed gravel bike as the winds were increasing b/c she felt like she could not control the trial bike. She got 6th for women. The only women to beat her were fully sponsored pros. She banged out 406.8 miles.
This was short of her goal but she is incredibly proud of her effort and did in fact leave it all on the table. Turns out only a few dozen women have done 400miles+ in 24hrs
reading skwids recent posts and comparing it to my own, it's now quite hilarious to believe i thought i had a chance at riding cross country as well 😀
Sold my house tonight at auction. Omg it’s a stressful process, made more stressful by the agents
We had a pre auction offer right at the bottom of the acceptable range a week ago and I’ve had daily pressure from the agents to sell. Every trick in the book - stories, predictions of crashes.
scare tactics, emotional blackmail tactics given they know we are divorcing etc etc. Really shady stuff
We went into today with no idea what we would get but knowing that if we didn’t get the right price, we’d either have to keep living together (we’ve been under the same roof while separated for 9 months now), or funding two homes in one of a few different ways. Both of these would have been very difficult and/or expensive
Ended up getting $190k more than the pre auction offer in about 2 mins - first bid happened and all of a sudden we’d exceeded our reserve and then got a ton more. Crazy emotions

I really hate the process of selling a house. I hate the disruption of keeping everything showing ready and having to leave for showings a lot. I hate the games realtors play. I hate negotiations about fixing things the inspectors find. Bleh.

I had one at the poker table yesterday.
Very little / no action to the river where someone in MP who looks FOS bets small on the river. I call on the Button. He flips over J9 for two pair (pair on board plus 9) with J kicker. I proudly declare "bigger kicker!" and table my 9x.
Dealer mucks my tabled hand without much thought and starts pushing the pot to the opponent.
"Hey, I had an Ace kicker?"
Dealer and table stares at my quizzically.
"Um, my Ace plays, right?"
Dealer turns over my hand, which is 97.
Oh, right. I had 97.
I had somehow convinced myself I had an Ace.

early last year we notcied a lump on our then 3 y/o pups hind ankle. we kept an eye on it but it eventually got to a size we wanted it checked out. it was cancer :( so we get it and a 2nd bump on a different leg surgically removed. surgeon tells us they couldn't get clear margins while scrape everything out because of where the cancer was located and where her bones were, so we had to keep an eye on it possibly returning. this year it eventually came back with quite the vengence. this time it was at least twice the size of the first time and surgery to remove the bump wasn't an option again. we looked into radiology and another option that chemically removes the cancer with injections, but neither were a good fit for what was growing on our pup. eventually we relented and went with the last viable option to stop the cancer from spreading further (which pre surgery testing revealed it had already spread to limph nodes in her leg) and prolong her otherwise healthy life, leg amputation. apparently with dogs, there is not an option to amputate a paw or part of the leg. it's the whole leg.
our now 5 y/o pup is 4 days post-op removing her rear left leg. i can't even imagine going someplace and then just waking up without a limb and having no ability to understand why, but she seems unfazed. the hard drugs she was given for surgery are almost out of her system and the lethargic behavior is giving way to her natural insane tendancies, despite having roughly 6" of stitches and what must be some pain. she is very happy to be recieving all kinds of scratches for being a great pup and she's surprisingly happy to be transported, via wagon, to her bathroom spots in a field down the street from our house, as she is not allowed to walk on hard surfaces or for long periods so she doesn't fall on her sutures and injure herself. for a few weeks we need to walk with her with a towel supporting her weight in the back (like a sling around her hips) and with every day she's trying to move faster than the previous day and get back into her normal routine. today she tried to climb on the back of the couch, which is her normal laying spot, before i stopped her. she is naturally a hugging dog and she got into her normal 'i want to hug you' stance but she was hesitant and unsure with only 1 leg to brace on how to do it. it's one of her favorite things to do so i'm sure she'll work it out.
i was extremely hesitant to do this but she seems like she will make a full recovery and hopefully she can stop having cancer, because she really is a very sweet and affectionate puppy.
