Meh. Billions of people in the world feel East Jerusalem (and really all of Jerusalem) should be under Muslim control for supernatural reasons, so you cant really appeal to rationality. If Israel could reach a compromise where it was just East Jerusalem and Muslims would be satisfied with this (highly unlikely) that would be a pretty big win.

Except for the super right wing Orthodox, who have their own non rational super-natural motivations, pretty much all of Israeli society recognizes this.

I think Israel/Palestine is more an issue where communist countries can get the global south on their side for reasons that have nothing to do with private property ownership.

Because Israel is synonymous with american capitalism and they use that to attack capitalism and the west in general, as it's a weaker spot given the propaganda worked against Israel about the purported genocide and so on.

Agree, but that doesn't explain the American and European and even Israeli communist parties, all holding a very strong anti-Israel stance.

I do feel the only solution that will satisfy both sides is Israel completely giving up the west bank but having an undivided Jerusalem as their capital recognized by the world

We were there on a tour. My wife had a relative that lived there and they showed us how they build the furniture for synagogue in America. Very cool
