2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
Indeed the fact the Democrats deliberately waited until after the primaries to install her shows how well they thought she would do in the primaries.
Is that not more down to their complete inability to read the obvious in relation to Biden's cognitive skills (probably not helped by mainstream media glossing over it entirely) and not pre-emptively strongly suggesting he should not seek a second term, instead leaving it too late until it became completely obvious to even the most ignorant Dem voter post-debate, by which stage they're basically tied into Harris, if only to retain use of cash money donated to the Biden campaign?
Yes. I am asking what the percentage of allowed votes would go to Harris. Meanwhile even I don't think the remaining votes would only be 15 or 20%. Not when the majority of eleven-year-olds could answer both questions. (And 100% of two plus twoers, dumb as they often are.) If the true answer really is 20% then why are so many posters wasting their time explaining why a candidate's simplistic proposals are flawed when they are analyzed more deeply?
You are vastly overestimating how many people would be able to work out how many millions go into a trillion if you asked them on the spot and they had to work it out in their head.
What do you think the % of the population would be that can do 21x17 in their head?
long or short trillion?
There is this perception that everything we see on the internet is real when I would be surprised if even 50% of what we see has a firm placement in reality.
Won't really argue with that. Some things are outright false, but more often than not, it seems to be half-truths and purposely derisive ideas. When it comes to users on social media platforms, my guess is that the number of posts from bots and click farms is closer to 80 or 90 percent, especially on the main pages/forums. I remember a philosophy page I used to follow on Facebook, and there were halfway decent posts and conversations on it. Then I began to notice a change. One day, I was responding to a comment but stopped myself. I decided to go through the 20-30 profiles that made comments on the thread, and it appeared that not a single one of them was an actual person, and this was around five years ago.
if i had seen this before the election i would have both voted for trump and tripled my betting positions on him

Calculating 340+17 in your head isn't exactly difficult.
Kamala is 25 minutes late and counting to her concession speech.
With all the chaos, it's comforting to see Dave break out his "we should bring back literacy tests" spiel yet again. It's a bit of constancy we can grab hold of.
I will say, shes handling the loss like a toddler. Total amateur hour.
Last night, not giving a simple 2 minute soundbite along the lines of: "wow we weren't expecting this, I'm incredibly dissapointed with these results but incredibly proud of my team and especially proud of everyone who put their faith in me blah blah"
Between that and this, kinda pathetic showing of leadership
kamala: the outcome of this election is not what we voted for.
Just started. I suspect there's going to be a lot of hay made about how she started her speech:
The outcome of this election is not what we wanted. Not what we fought for. Not what we voted for....
Really poor choice of words.
Right... Those awful awful unqualified women who can't get the while male vote against the grab em by the pussy reality star guy is definitely not a datapoint to examine. Nothing to see here.
You guys keep saying woman with 20 years of experience across all our branches of government is unqualified and I don't think you understand what that word means
I don't think you understand what an unpopular **** candidate is. Hillary won the popular vote. Harris got smoked in every way possible. It's not bc she's a woman.
When you FORCE someone in that nobody wanted in the first place crying sexism and racism (16 years after Obama won easily) is completely misguided.
There are plenty of politicians with plenty of experience. And many would poll horribly/slash have done horrible in primaries. And guess what- most of them are white men .
If you took a white man who did atrocious in the primaries, forced him as the nominee he'd probably do miserable as well bc nobody wanted him in the first place.
Just bc a black woman was wildly unpopular doesn't mean she was unpopular bc she's a black woman.
She just said "we need to keep fighting". What is she "fighting" for? The "green new deal" scam?
You thought you knew so much about everything and understood the world so well.... when you clearly don't.
Spend the time in reflection and deep thought, change the way you think so that you can be less dead wrong about things in the future.
it wasn't that he was wrong
it's that he had so much dead certainty behind it and regularly called anyone who disagreed with his interpretations as too stupid to understand
will he reflect? doubtful, they usually never do
No it doesn't. What if the best person for the job is a black woman? What if he already knew that when he said that?
What if I told you I wanted to pick the best NBA player and I was going to pick a black male. Would I limit my chance of picking the best player?
Actually yes bc Jokic isn't black.
And in general also yes.
What if you were an NBA scout scouting high school and college basketball players.
If you said you're gonna exclude all white players or all black players you're limiting possible players you'd want..
Except Biden did it will 94 percent of possible candidates.
If he knew he was picking her when he said that (which he didn't btw) he wouldn't have said it.
Wait, is the insinuation here that Trump is more capable of forming a coherent sentence than... basically anyone? LOL.
Anyone? No. However, he's not the moron that a lot of folks make him out to be. It's clear when you see him talk out of character. His incoherent meanderings at debates, rallies and in the media are done with intent.

If you took a whit
Kamala ran the least identity-politics focused campaign since Obama 2012. She actively refused to attack Trump on him calling her fake black. She had white dudes for Kamala which was the first time in a while of white men being allowed to be white men without apology. She moderated on the border, trans rights, I/P conflict, spoke strongly about small businesses, said Americans are fundamentally not racist, disagreed with Biden calling Trump supporters garbage, and I can keep going.
The idea that Kamala’s campaign was just crying racism is completely revisionist history.
IMO the problem for Dems this election was clearly the top of the ticket.
Trump won or is leading in every swing state, yet Democratic Senate candidates won or are leading in 3 of 5 swing state races and in the two races where Republicans are ahead they are leading by less than Trump. Dems also won by a landslide in the NC gubernatorial race against a controversial candidate, but lost the Presidential race by over 3% against a controversial candidate.
They can't scapegoat 3rd parties this time
