2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
Joe Biden, the lifelong political mediocrity clown shoes everyone made fun of for 8 straight years under Obama, got 12 million more votes than probably the most inspirational Presidential candidate since John F. Kennedy. That's really all you need to be skeptical.
We must have very different definitions of inspirational…

covid made a ton of people have a ton fo time with nothing to do, living in your money, so a lot more people voted than they usually do: they were playing games or ordering food or using their peloton with your money and had to find something to do.
try to reproportion your skepticism with turnout, understanding that it's obvious why turnout was the highest in decades: people were are home either collecting checks or pretending to "work" while playing farmville
Blame for dem loss ranked:
1. Biden not stepping away sooner
2. Uninformed voters, misinformation, propaganda
3. White people
4. 100 day campaign
5. Dems not doing a primary
6. Fringe reasons including racism and misogyny
7. Biden telling half of the country they were garbage
8. Dem's telling everyone Biden was mentally fit, when it was clear they all knew he wasn't
9. Not emphasizing her middle-class upbringing
10. Pretending to be a McDonald's employee, which was obviously false
11. The sniper missing Trump
12. The media making up a story that she was "surging" at the end and going to win, suppressing Dem turnout
13. Wanting taxpayers to pay for prisoners to cut their dicks off
14. The murder of Peanut the squirrel

If it's your money and my money--doesn't that make it our money Mr Hand? 😀
The evidence is that the MAGA persona didn't exist until he began running for president. I mean, he played a character on The Apprentice and with the WWE a few times, but if you watch any interview with him before his run, he's calm and collected and gives rational answers. You may not agree with his values, or he may be starting from a faulty premise in order to push an agenda, but he's definitely playing a character when he speaks to crowds, reporters, etc.
You can see his personality change f
I'll admit that I remain skeptical (just based solely on the overwhelming volume of arrant dumb****ery that comes out of his mouth and twitter feed), but I can see your reasoning and thanks for taking the time to respond.

I think the main reason why Biden got so many dem votes was because Trump as President did a lot of things to make dems hate the living guts out of him.
It ain't just because people were bored so they voted.

Case in point why you shouldn’t listen to Republicans if you are trying to reevaluate the Dem party as a Dem voter.

?
some maga elements existed.
I remember videos from the late 80s or early 90s of trump claiming the rest of the world is ripping the USA off with trade and with NATO.
can't provide a link rn but I can tomorrow
I think we all agree that he's a pathological liar and an odious individual. The question was whether he's a moron or not. You're conflating multiple issues.
I don't think you can win 2 American elections being a true definition of a moron.
And then at the same time you he does a **** load of moronic stuff.
So I dunno anymore.

Trump managed to steal the control of one of the two main parties of the most powerful country in the history of the world from extremely shrewd , cinical and skilled pros who had massive expertise in managing power.
that feat alone is so rare in world history, so exceptional, that you are in lalalaland if you don't see that person possesses a one in "a lot of millions" skillset.
Trump is objectively one of the most skilled (capable at manipulating public opinion and at navigating political intrigue) politicians in the history of the world just because of that accomplishment.
Then after that he made a truly historical comeback after the other party of the most powerful country in the history of the world tried everything to stop him, with immense resources at their disposal I cluding some of the richest people in the history of the world donating and coordinating efforts and having the presidency to go after him.
so you have the most powerful country in the history of the world, controlled by 2 groups, and Trump fought and won against both.
if you don't see how this makes him one of the most important, exceptional people who ever lived on this planet I don't know what else to say.
this doesn't make his objectively disgusting moral character "good".
Mohammed was a pedophile but he was still one of the most important human being to ever live
Change the question to "what does graduated income tax mean" or anything else of equal difficulty that pertains to government. What percentage of allowed votes does Harris get? Starting to think that nobody is answering because they think it wouldn't increase her percentage much. And if so, there should be some system that is somewhere between relying on kings and queens and relying on intellectual children.
I dont think it would increase her pencentage much. Might even decrease it.
You know I'm totally against any limitation on who can vote but if it were to be done then best imo would to test how accuratly we can assess our own ability to answer questions.
I dont know how to do that test (ding ding i can vote) but as I dont want us to do it I'm not sure that matters
lolz omg nobody ffing cares about that except ivory tower academic leftists
some jabroni living without a running water or electricity is going to be highly offended by being labeled a resident of 3rd world jfc man...
Oddly enough, I had a conversation with a homeless lady recently, and she didn't like the "homeless" label. Kind of blew my mind, but for the most part, I think you're right.

Even if we stipulate to everything you're saying, it makes him exceptionally skilled at being a demagogue who appeals to the lowest common denominator, and if that's your position then you won't get any argument from me. This doesn't preclude his being a complete idiot who doesn't understand basic stuff about the world around him, like how gases escape from his locked bathroom into the atmosphere as one basic example.
Quoting Tien's post as well as I think this both posts make similar points that are covered by this response.
Totally agree with him creating that persona. I was high the other night and watch this documentary
and it all made sense he use his 12 years of being on Tv to create an image of who he is now. My view of him has become a lot more positive after watching this.covid made a ton of people have a ton fo time with nothing to do, living in your money, so a lot more people voted than they usually do: they were playing games or ordering food or using their peloton with your money and had to find something to do.

I'm fully aware of all that. I don't think the election was rigged, but I also don't blame anyone for being skeptical about it or questioning it.

A valuable member of society who, due to a confluence of unfortunate circumstances, temporarily has no fixed place of abode.
It's a bit of a mouthful, but I'm sure we could come up with some catchy acronym if we torture the words long enough.
