Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
Personally I think it is lexically useful to have different words for attraction to 17 year olds and 7 year olds, but if you wish to use your own private language and have pedophilia describe both groups, I can’t stop you.
Which part of my post did you construe as asserting that being attracted to 17-year-old children is the same as being attracted to 7-year-old children? I would think that when I said, "He's not a pedo" it wouldn't confuse you, but here we are.
There is no tinfoil.
They wait for the elections, if they win, they build a solid case with precision to take the trump ally down for good. Not like this with a random raid and no case built.
If they lose, they raid immediatly after the elections with 0 chance of convinction because the next admin will toss the case out of the window, as pure retribution to make a trump ally suffer.
There is 0 logical, prosecutorial sense in going after him now with Trump going into government in 2 months. At least Jake Smith who isn't a moron closed off the cases against Trump.
But the DOJ employees who know retribution against them, as duly deserved, is coming, are doing what they can these last weeks.

So your argument is the DOJ should stop investigating and prosecuting crimes for two months because you believe the new incoming administration is so corrupt that they would intervene and stop any such investigation that affects one of their supporters.

No my argument is that DOJ is not independent, and never was.
DOJ can do what it wants to pursue the political agenda of the president, within the limits of the constitution. Courts are what exists to stop excesses.
My point is to stop pretending using the DOJ (and it's subsidiaries) as a political tool and a weapon wasn't the standard since it's creation. The FBI was built to spy upon political adversaries and perceived political threats (violent or otherwise)
Congress knew since the beginning it was basically creating a secret police. They tried to limit it somehow but they failed. Edgar Hoover famously kept private files on any relevant political actor in the nation to blackmail them. That's the DOJ in essence.
I accept what can't be changed, so make it transparent and official. The DoJ is part of the executive, serves at the pleasure of the president, and can use it's powers in any constitutional way the President likes.
If Biden, duly elected president of the USA (till jan 2025) thinks this raid of polymarket is proper use of the DOJ, he can do that, and the ultimate arbiters will be the voters, as always for all political uses of power.

The only evidence you're proffering that the DOJ isn't independent is that they raided someone who is a Trump supporter. Everything else you posted above is just rhetorical nonsense.
Trump has assembled a mass deportation dream team
Trump’s dark immigration plan. Miller, Homan and Noem have
the potential to be distressingly effective at working together.
Miller has supported an end to birthright citizenship and pledged to
“turbocharge” his efforts to strip naturalized citizens of their legal status.
let Temporary Protected Status protections expire for more than 800,000 people
Trump has indicated he’d like to see the military take part in the forced removal plans
Miller is likely unconcerned about how long people might
have to wait in hastily built camps before being deported.
The odds seem high that there will be citizens who are
rounded up and forced to prove their right to stay in the country.
hinting that children born in America would be illegally expelled, as well
mass deportation doesn’t have to be done well to
make Trump’s vision a reality. It just needs to be done
Trump might not end (or refuse to renew) TPS for venezuelans, as he did implement it himself before leaving the presidency, for them (different program name can't remember now, but it had basically the same effects).
A lot of people on the right actually think fleeing from communism does justify special treatment.
And the main reason is, if you flee from communism you... are probably going to vote against it later on in your life. So those people are good additions to the country, and they could even be put on an accelerated path to citizenship, and housing be provided in swing districts of swing states for maximum effect.
reparations for white people
Trump said that “there is a definite anti-white feeling in this country” that
“can’t be allowed,” and that “I don’t think it would be a very tough thing to address.”
This policy would certainly align with that sentiment.
Republicans, after all, have framed things like DEI policies and
affirmative action as discrimination against white Americans.
Republicans have openly pushed to roll back the gains made through the Civil Rights Movement.
Destroying the Department of Education and attacking
schools that promote equity would be clear steps toward that goal.
Um... did Trump really nominate this guy for AG?
American politics seems to have taken on a slightly surreal tone.
It's a hilariously incompetent pick and all the fools can say is "man that's going to piss off the liberals!"
Ye in the good old days before Trump, the government declared war inventing the casus belli and the company that made the most billions with reconstruction of the bombed country infrastructure was that the Vice President had been CEO of.
Gone are the serious, wise days when the whole nation discussed literal *blo wjobs under a desk in the oval office*.
Nevermind when presidents were actually assassinated and so on

That Gaetz bloke does seem a bit of a weirdo though in fairness. Wiki sez he's also a proponent of the great replacement theory, which to me kinda-sorta raises a flag of a somewhat red hue. (as does the alleged sex trafficking)
What's terrible about it?
They should get a choice about babies in their body, but not about injections?
Correct. How is carrying a baby to term for 9 months then looking after it for 18 years like an injection, and how is it different? When you can answer those questions, you'll be able to see why it's a terrible analogy.

I'm pro choice. The church god abortion stance is the dumbest part of the republican platform.
I'm also pro choice in that if you don't want to be injected with a newly created vaccine you shouldn't be effectively forced to.
