I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

And you're the guy who wants 87-year-old Edna from rural Iowa to power through her glaucoma to download the app to scan QR codes instead of walking to her mailbox like she has for decades.

Rick is completely right (fwiw this is someone who disagrees with the guy almost always)

87 year old Edna can live with once a week mail delivery

I personally have no interest in joining the USA but the Canada i love is gone thanks to a Fxxcking Idiot named Justin Trudeau .

yo I don't know much about Canada

What has Trudeau done to make you pseudo-conservative/contrarian types so very angry at him? You all LOATHE this guy. It seems to me that he's a very standard, centrist, neoliberal type that you've seen dozens of times before. But conservative social media have practically issued a fatwa against him! It's nuts. But I freely admit that I'm far from an expert on Justin (other than knowing about the blackface) and your country.

Sorry for monopolizing this forum today. The gas hit me hard. I will chill and listen.

lol that's a terrible read

i'm 100% paperless - i just understand how modern economies work having worked for numerous ecommerce companies

Since you have your finger on the pulse, I'm surprised you don't see how an archaic division could be limited or shutdown altogether in the modern era. No one is talking about parcels and freight.

I don't know about you, but we get less than 5 pieces of mail in a year that we actually need, and it could have been handled online. Most people's physical mailboxes are just spamboxes - from the mailbox to the shredder.

That's why I said we're a good 30 years away from it because too many dinosaurs are unwilling to learn basic technology, and too many ageists think they can't.

But it's hilarious that you think an 87-year-old with glaucoma will have an easier time going to her mailbox and using a magnifier to read her documents than just clicking on a link and getting a large font display on her computer or phone (yes, I know olds her age that use smartphones, tablets, and computers).

lol, how would you expect fedex to piggyback onto postal service shipments when the postal service is no longer making those shipments?

jfc man, think next time before you just send

So USPS would cease shipping parcels and packages because they no longer deliver letters?

But you're the master of modern ecommerce - I'm sure you can figure out a solution for a $70B company like FedEx to get packages from point A to point B.

are you genuinely unfamiliar with economies of scale or just trolling? it's always hard to tell with you

There isn’t much reasons to be so hating about Trudeau but he think his the worst pm ever in Canada shrug.

U know trump had faced the worst human being ever in Kamala, Biden and Clinton and by some coincidence it was all 3 adversaries to him for the presidency.
What are the odds .
So it’s about the same For lozen .

I'll let you decide that. Right now, though, you sound less like an economist and more like a mailman worried about losing his job.

Rickroll doesn't like it when you disagree with his conclusions or point out how moronic his posts tend to be. He thinks his freedumb of speech entitles him to claim expertise on every subject and regale us with his correct, uncontested opinions.

Vaccine mandates, transgender stuff, immigration stuff.

Trudeau is the classic centrist neoliberal type on the economy, but he embraced the horrific ultra-radical-extremist left ideas on covid, trans issues, immigration. And that makes you hated as deeply as possible by anyone who has any actual rightwing tendency.

For those who wondered, americans don't give any actual **** about tariffs and globalization and free trade in generale (the source is rightwing, super-pro free trade).

Which is why even the insane Trump tariff talk costed him little to no votes

Of course they don't. That is, not until prices go up because of tariffs. Then it's #1.

I could list all the corruption as well but the main thing for me is he ran up more debt than all the Prime Ministers before him and continues with record deficits and trying to shut down the resource industry through his greenpeace felon environment minister

Our president is going to help us end DST. A long overdue change. We shouldn't have to fall back or spring ahead anymore in this day and age.

President Trump:

The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation.

Funny thing is if that happens my province will follow suit . Im a skeptic though

If this happens, most of the country will hate it and we will change back within two years.

Pretty much another example to confirm why they voted trump and believes Biden did so bad economically…
It’s just clueless minded people .

I must say , being able to make believe hardcore right wing people
That tarrifs is great is one hell of a proof they would believe anything , even vs their own interest and original beliefs, a true cult because « trump said so » !

This but they will find a way to absolve trump and find another guilty party some way or another .

All this been not supported by empirical evidence if you decide to use the usual definitions of thing la but since u never do , i believe you believe it’s true ….

Thanks to Luciom, Montreal, and Lozen for their takes on Trudeau. I am genuinely curious about the guy and the incredibly vitriolic response to him. With that said, I still don't really get it.

I hear you, but is it not true that these "horrific ultra-radical-extremist left ideas on covid, trans issues, immigration" you speak of are shared by huge swaths of the Canadian public? I get why conservatives don't like the typical liberal takes on these things, but I don't see them give 1/100 of their Trudeau fury to all the other liberal politicians who seem to be in a similar boat! That's my issue.

Like, I'm guessing his takes on your three mentioned issues are approximately:

-COVID -- people should get vaccinated from this highly contagious airborne disease before being allowed free run in the public square
-Trans issues -- trans people should be allowed to go to the bathroom which meets their gender (like they have been in years past; we've all been going to public bathrooms with trans people for years with no issue)
-Immigration -- people should generally be welcomed in after the typical check for warrants, etc. This idea of OPEN BORDERS on both sides of the US is a myth.

many millions of people think this way

I could be wrong, and Justin has some genuinely radical takes on these things. I think maybe I should have provided some examples of the deeply intense and largely unique hatred for the guy I've seen. He's received way more hate than, say, Kamala Harris. He's one of two politicians who seem to have received THE MOST hate on social media, along with Hillary Clinton (which has largely dissipated as she's been out of politics for a while now).

They treat him like he has the politics of a Karl_TheOG_Marx instead of, I don't know, Bill Clinton. I would be happily surprised if his politics are closer to the former than the latter!

Yes for Covid i meant vaccine mandates (but also lockdowns). No for trans issues i meant men being allowed to play competitive sport with women, to get into women prison, and the mutilation and sterilization of minors. Oh and there is the criminalization of misuse of pronouns, and the "let's remove parental rights from the parent who disagrees his 11y old shouldn't get hormones". Basically like California, which is already considered a monstrous place for those issues by rightwing people, except without the 1a.

For immigration i mean the "poor asylum seeker we have a moral duty to pay them welfare for life", the allowing people which aren't filtered to be a good long term match for the local economy in because of non-economic reasons.

Yes i know some of those topics have various degrees of acceptance among the canadian population. Especially the french speaking one, which for a normal american rightwing person is just a communist hellhole.

Btw just what he did against the protesting truckers alone, just that, puts J Trudeau in the short list of "true domestic enemies of western civilization" and fully disqualifies him and anyone supporting him to be a participant in civil discourse and society. That was pure unlimited fascism of the kind rarely seen in western countries in peace time.

Bill Clinton was more against illegal immigration than Trump, at least in speeches. There isn't only the economic axis.

This day in north america capitalism won the battle of ideas (not necessarily in continental europe) which means the battle is on cultural issues.
