Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

Damn you guys. Ted Lasso is a great feel good show. Has charming story lines.

Boo.

I love Ted Lasso and I'm not ashamed to say it.

people in this thread think Ted Lasso and other shows need to be realistic. They don't. It wasn't supposed to be a documentary on a European football team.

i liked the show

but you're conflating "that's not how running a premiere league team works remotely" with

That's not how anything works remotely

that's not how business deals are made
that's not how friendships form
that's not how lovers happen (this one really jumped the shark, was infuriating where they took this)
that's not how anything at all takes place

i swear this guy was the lead screenwriter

i liked the show, it was very good, but at least make it plausible it's happening in the real world

Landman has been a brilliant watch so far.

Agreed on Landman. I started Lioness yesterday. That one has been great so far too. Another Sheridan show.

That's exactly what I thought as well, although I mostly enjoyed season 2 overall. I can never remember their names but 456 and 001/Front-Man both did a tremendous job with their acting.

Spoiler
Show

Thanos annoyed the crap out of me, but I was kind of sad to see him go.

Spoiler
Show

I didn't quite understand why the dude that went back to get the magazines didn't follow through. Was he just having some sort of PTSD or something else?

Agree with both of your spoilers and think that must be the case for the second one.

The acting is great, I just didn’t care for some of the storyline so far. Still looking forward to S3.

did you guys watch it dubbed? The first episodes are pretty good if you keep korean on. On dubs, you lose the whole essence of it. Koreans are super funny/weird/quirky and it doesnt carry through dubs. Anytime koreans insult each other, i am happy. Brings me back to the "Big Bet" universe that i loved.

scenes with the old woman are super annoying tho.

I avoid almost all foreign language shows, because I’m not a fan of dubbed or having to read subtitles 100% of the time. But I made an exception for Squid Games. I watched dubbed. I can see how it would be better watching in Korean with subtitles.

half the season is '"AHH-SHEEEEEE" in korean, its not very deep

Carry On is a decent action thriller and worth a watch. What happens toward the end is a bit silly but whatever.

The whole thing is silly but I liked it(sort of).

Kings of Tupelo is WILD

I've watched one episode but I'm not getting into it. It's trying to be too much like the "Tiger King". It seems overly scripted. Maybe it gets better over the last few episodes.

The rig season 2 is out. Prime.

Enjoyed the first season. Recommend for any horror fans. It has a “the thing” type of vibe to it.

I remember liking The Rig at the beginning but not so much towards the end...but I don't remember why.

Yea, I hope he is saying that because he has already watched all the other good stuff on there, Tedd Lasso is the most overrated show anywhere.

I watched a bunch of episodes yesterday (a bunch = season one). I'm enjoying it but already know that the coach being a folksy goofball with some terrible soccer scenes sprinkled in is going to wear me out.

in season 3 there are still jokes about him not understanding the most basic elements of the game

To be fair in regards to realism, Matt Eberflus was in his 3rd year as a head coach, and still didn't understand basic elements of the game.

Like when to call a timeout.

Famous Rounders scene: Mike sits down, bluffs Johnny Chan, and Chan asks him, "Did you have it?" Mike says, "Sorry, John. I don't remember."

Mike sits down with like 20 bbs, it's a limit game, and Chan folds to a 5-bet after 4-betting preflop. Johnny Chan - or any decent limit player - would never fold in that spot.

Not realistic, right? As a poker player, does the non-realism ruin the scene or movie for you? Of course not - because it's an entertaining scene and movie. Not a freakin' documentary on the right way to play poker.

You don't have to like Ted Lasso, of course. But I'm so tired of these "not realistic" arguments. It's so stupid.

But there is never a realistic poker scene in a movie or show, less than 5% of the time anyway.

it absolutely would have ruined it if i knew anything about poker the first time i saw that film

As a Bears fan, this really hits home and is very true. Thanksgiving 2024 is a date that will live in infamy.

and yet for 99% of poker players, its hilarious because of how dumb that scene is.

Most people in this world are able to just enjoy things for what they are.

Season 3 of Special Forces - World's Toughest Test is tonight, fun reality show. Cam Newton is on this season.

Super excited to watch when this airs

No series in history ever fell off as badly as Ted Lasso from S1 to S2. Fell off a cliff.

This post may convince me to end my one week free trial of Apple. I'm in S2 and am at the point where the best scenes are any scenes without Ted Lasso.
