In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
Bobo the left didn't wait 5 min to claim the wildfires were entirely and exclusively caused by climate change and that meant everyone opposing massive reductions of CO2 emissions is individually responsible for that.
Not sure you followed that part, one of the most horrific propaganda responses ever seen
Is that with the lasers weapon stuff ?
No one can make you remember correctly or read for you.
If you can't see the difference between that and the incoming president using his platform to blame individuals who are at that moment engaged in actually responding to a crisis, I'm not sure what to tell you.
That aside, if anyone actually said that, I think that's pretty ridicculous too. I would assume you'd feel the same way about Trump and his ilk (and the right wing media) with their blame game?
I don't think you believe that everything was being done perfectly to prevent something like this, right?
And assuming you don't it's only natural to wonder what could be done better and why those things weren't done and then look to those overseeing that, correct?
I mean what's crazy to me is that they apparently didn't cut the power-- and again I'm in rural San Diego county in the mountains where we're getting the exact same wind and they do and did cut the power.
Having my parents get one of those pool gas powered pumps because they're in a fire area and a functioning chain saw. Not sure what else might be a good idea. They already have a metal roof.
Talked to my mom today and she said before their neighborhood was built around 20 years ago there had been a fire through there and that you can still see some scars from on some trees-- which I didn't know.

Pols should basically be on auto pilot once one of these disasters occurs. This would reflect adequate planning of contingencies, and go down the chain from the feds down to the local level. That's what effective governance is all about.
If they can't do that, it reflects dysfunction at some level.
Every disaster in recent years has had conspiracies(and obv the world-wide capitalist elite are only teamed up with the left 😀) built up around it--come on dude lol
you're not posting in good faith when you treat qanon/playbig type posts as representative of anything
what has mainstream conservatism such as the wsj said about libs at fault for hurricanes?

How about actual elected politicians and the true alternative media everyone actually follows? There are a fair few of both of those these days playing that game.
They did it to steal the minerals 😀

you're quite intentionally seeking non-representative outliers and portraying them as the norm because you're more worried about villain portrayal than you are in finding solutions
No I think it's abundantly clear that there were on the ground responsibilities at the local and state levels that made the wildfires as destructive as they were as abundantly explained before by me and others, and given democrats governed those areas since like forever they are responsible for that in full.
I do feel sad about some made up narratives blaming random stuff by rightwing media but democrats are objectively part of the reason so many homes got burnt down.
Btw it's strange you didn't s
Cool story, bro. So, all good with what Trump has to say then? Or nah, you recognize they hypocrisy that would mean?

Seriously dude, this whole routine whrere you ignore the point of posts and try to take one element of them and go off in some other direction is getting old.
I mean, it's not like I (and most of us) have never done this, but no one relies on it quite as regularly as you do.

I see. And so do you think that because the fires aren't out "the incompetent pols" are to blame? If so, what should they have done to put the fires out quicker?

No one has ever accused me of that before and I don't really know what you're talking about, but if people are going to post nonsense (in your case sanctimonious nonsense which is the worst kind), then they should expect to have their logic questioned.

this x1 million
this was the subject
Every disaster in recent years has had conspiracies(and obv the world-wide capitalist elite are only teamed up with the left 😀) built up around it--come on dude lol
my response was a general refutation of a vague and unclear statement
Well, first time for everything!
LOL, OK.
but if people are going to post nonsense (in your case sanctimonious nonsense which is the worst kind), then they should expect to have their logic questioned.
I see. So what sanctimonious nonsense of mine was this supposed to be questioning?
I don't think you believe that everything was being done perfectly to prevent something like this, right?

Because of course my point wasn't about people wondering what could be done better. My point was very clearly about leaders spending their time within 2-3 days of the fire laying blame with their political enemies every chance they could get. There was no wondering, just unproductive blaming. There will be plenty of time for that, but why wait when you can score political points right away? That was my point.
But please, share what "sanctimonious nonsense" of mine you were questioning.

It's the part quoted right above that
Honestly, I'm lost at this point. I won't dispute sanctimonious (wouldn't be the first time I'm guilty of that), but I'm still not sure what nonsense you were questioning.
My point is that the hard work should already have been done. Maybe they thought it was, IDK.
OK. I assumed that since my post was talking about Trump calling out pols because the fires weren't out yet, you were addressing that. If you were just making a bigger point about pols perhaps not doing the necessary preparatory work, fair enough.
