ex-President Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

And you think food production would be lower/worse with lower government intervention?

There are ways to subsidize without big distortions in allocations and decision making (cheaper loans, tax exemptions, cheaper/free insurance and so on), do you think the dirigist approach has positive outcomes?

i think without those government subsidies the cost of our food would increase dramatically (as would stuff like gas because of ethanol etc) and a lot of the farms would cease operations as they would no longer be profitable and a lot of the corporate farms would sell the land and then buy up land abroad and import

Come on dude. I can't post my personal details. You know that.

I didn't ask for you to post personal details. I'm sure with all the redacted documents you've seen since Trump's first term, you should be able to figure it out.

by MrDavitWilliam k

You’re questioning if BrianJames is one of Trump’s marks? Really? Of COURSE he is. After all, Trump LOVES the uneducated.

MrJames undoubtedly has already ordered one of these…… https://gettrumpwatches.com/

I'm not questioning his blind devotion to Trump; I'm questioning whether he has the $200.

Trump would have been convicted of election interference, DoJ report says

President-elect Donald Trump would have been convicted of illegally trying to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election - which he lost - if he had not successfully been re-elected in 2024, according to a Department of Justice report released to Congress.

"The admissible evidence was sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial," the report by Special Counsel Jack Smith said.

Pls read again, you can subsidize (for state security reasons) without interfering with production processes, with an hands off approach. Subsidies aren't heavy regulation.

Same as the state can give every family x thousands dollars per year to send their kids to school if you determine that all kids having school access is necessary for other reasons.

It doesn't follow that the teaching has to be done by public employees at all same as it doesn't follow from the need to subsidize agricultural production that the farmers, butchers and so on should be public employees.

Important announcement regarding the future of the IRS

So his billionaire buddies will get away without paying their fair share, and the costs will be past off to the the public with tariffs?

Important announcement regarding the future of the IRS

Candidate from the “small government, less oversight” party calls for more government to increase oversight. ******s.

Oh cool. Trump is raising taxes on us. That will surely help lower costs.

i strongly disagree

subsidies are government oversight and control, it's just done with a carrot instead of a stick

What's the oversight and control in Congress allowing you to deduct mortgage interest from your taxes?

President Trump is getting inaugurated on Monday.

Will the name of this thread be changed then, or should I start a new thread titled President Donald J. Trump?

I understand some (very few) people don't like him because of his ego. But if it's his ego that gets things done for us as a country, who cares?

"President Trump the Peacemaker" would be an appropriate and timely title imo.

Twice Elected, 38 time convicted felon, serial adulterer & adjudicated forcible-finger-blaster President Donald J Trump.

Some won't like it, but all are facts. Facts do not care about your feelings.

Serious inquires only and there will be no trolling allowed in the new thread.

And again the public services isn’t about to make money but to actually provides a minimal services to those who can’t or barely can afford it .

That is why republicans in many states are pushing for a school voucher system to allow poor parents the ability to choose between a school that “provides a minimal services” or a private school that competes their asses off to provide the best education possible so they can compete with a competitor that is offering a similar service that is free to the consumer.

by Montrealcorp k

You just can’t uses the same arbitrary factors of success when the private sector mission and public sector mission are vastly different with different targeted participants as well .

Agreed, public schools have to do a poor enough job of educating to ensure their alumni will stay poor and therefore be forced to put their kids in the same school and private schools have to do a good enough job educating to ensure their alumni are rich enough to afford private school for their kids.

Well might be true in the red state and I’m sorry for you and your neighbours.
Here we have a good (far from perfect) enough education public system that can form doctors , engineer, etc at a low cost and be able to make a great life out of it shrug .

Same for heathcare and many countries around the world .

I guess Americans just sucks in that field .
Can’t be great in everything i guess .

Like you are great in guns milling and we aren’t .
And it’s fine too .

For profit education with the govt footing the bill. What could possibly go wrong?

Well here both system (healthcare education ) works fine so I don’t know what US problem is shrug.
And yes here too it’s mostly government spending .

So I guess it goes wrong mainly in the US with very few exceptions in the education area.

I don’t think it’s much about public services since it works fine elsewhere ,seem something else .

That is a flat out lie. Yes our education system is working better but please our healthcare system sucks.
5.5 million CDN's do not have a family doctor and many are on waiting lists that are 5-8 years long
Elective surgeries like knee or hip replacement take years to happen
Ive seen many first hand accounts of people that just cant get cancer treatments and go to the USA if they can afford it
Myself personally am on a waiting list for a gamily doctor or nurse practitioner for two years my neighbor has been waiting 4.5 years along with his wife

I have also heard England is going through similar issues
