Update April 2018

OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

A new update March 2019:
NO ****ING POLITICS!
Dateline Atlantic City:
Rice steaming on the rice cooker, and a Trooper video on pause on his laptop.
ELD reports there was no poker played today.
El D/Rice has now been in Atlantic City two days, and has played zero poker.
I guess Rice is still shook from the happenings that occurred at the 'Red Rock Massacre'

He seems to find every excuse available to him to not play any poker these days, i would guess he is very close to bustoville.

Absolutely!
Rice knows his 'bread and butter' comes from 'poker dealing' and has come to the realization that he is a breakeven-ish poker player, so why bother knocking himself out playing poker.
I'm not sure if the Rice man will play even a 1000 hours of poker this year?
I find it disturbing that the Rice man was in his Atlantic City hotel room watching a Trooper video.

You sound like a quality person. Jesus dude. Do you not have parents or grandparents? ****.
In your spare time research how 95% of countries handle healthcare, before you put grandma down in the barn bc she got cancer so she doesn’t **** up your healthcare.
Yeah this is BSumner's take, not mine. How America takes care of its' people that need life saving care is an atrocity at almost every level.
Absolutely!

Rice will not even come remotely close to playing a 1000 hours this year imo.Do we have actual count of how many hours he played in 2024 total?

he spent whole weekends walking around San Francisco parks and waiting in the airport. he rage quit weekly hour challenges. other times he counted walking and monorailing to different rooms as part of his work hours.
now he's rehashing trivial hands from 2016 and doing mean commenter reviews
couldn't have played too many hours
We're all gonna die someday.
You cant avoid it,
You can try, and spend all your remaining dollars to avoid it
But you will still lose
100% of those reading this sentence will die.
Besides, I didnt say it was a fun happy idea, just that if in fact you want to solve the issue, spending a couple million to extend an 80 year old's life another year might not be the best use of the funds if it means 1000s of new mother's are broke due to childbirth costs.
My ex's Dad has been in late stage dementia for over 18 months, pretty much a vegetable that can move and meanwhile she is spending every dollar she was supposed to inherit on his care. Life has some ugly difficult choices, and end of life care is one of them. Do you think her Dad wishes she would squander all his money to keep him around when he hasnt been able to recognize her for over 2 years?
People rail on our "horrible heathcare system" and yet most Americans will die of being fat and unhealthy, or they live so long dementia gets em. So, the first group cost a crapload since they are fat and lazy, and the second group dies because we cured everything to the point the cells just break down after 80 years of life. We dont expect a toaster to last 10 years, but we expect our heart to go 85? Eventually something gets you. If nothing else gets you on the road to death, dementia is the last exit.
Furthermore, I have done quite a bit of research on near death experiences, which changed my life entirely. There's better on the other side (dont mock it until you look into it, the evidence is compelling if your mind is even slightly open to it. I'd suggest "Evidence of the AfterLife" if you want to have your mind blown)

I get that most people are uncomfortable talking about these things, but if you dont think that spending millions of dollars just to extend life a year or so when those years will be either painful, in and out of hospitals, or just being a legit vegetable well . . . I dont know what to tell you.
25% of medicare costs are spent in the last year of life. Imagine what that percent would be if we added the costs of those who hang on the last 2 or 3 years in and out of hospitals
Why does anyone believe Rice will play poker at a rate higher than a recreational fish?
Once he had money in his pocket from dealing, he shut down his most obvious leak - playing poker.

not exactly sure what your point is or what we should do, but if neglecting our elders is your agenda then you have a pretty depressing life

El D/Rice is perfecting the Pman methodology of being a "Professional Poker Player" without actually playing or winning at poker.

this was such an amazing hand. nothing was out of the ordinary. villain didn't go runner runner. did Rice bet the river and get called? or did he call on the river?
advise: if you are in a hand, even with aces, and the possibility of losing said hand could send you into life tilt for eternity, just fold

You could maybe make the argument society spends too much on care in the last year or so of someone's life when they're dying.
However "the money she was supposed to inherit" attitude is disgusting. That's her dad's money that he likely worked hard for. Someone's money being spent on their own care is a lot different than society paying for their care.
I didn’t post that for the record.
BSumner posted it.

You put some thought into this, so it deserves a serious answer:
a) some of your points are absolutely correct, like, much more money is spent at a later age, etc.
b) your solution though (if we wanna call it that) is not really one.
do you actually think if that money would not be spent (for eldercare) someone (like, say, the government, or big pharma) would spent it on other things? No, it would just be more profit for them. Look at what Mark Cuban is doing with costplusdrugs, so much medicine could be sold so much cheaper (and they still make billions), but they chose to make trillions instead.
not gonna get into that "argument" dying is not so bad bc the afterlife might be great, bc thats just speculation and not really an argument, also even if it was true, all the folks who get left behind if a loved one dies don't give a F... about that.
also, one other point:
you could safe not billions but trillions again in healthcare costs, of the obesity problem in the US would be solved, but there it is again, there's food giants that already make trillions with exactly that food that is responsible for this problem, so that pharma can write prescriptions for it ... it's capitalism out of control, that's the real problem, and politicians who are bought and paid for by lobbyists, who are not interested in solving those problems (bc, they eat better, trust me).
please stop quote posting for a hot minute, it's clearly bugged

He bet the river trying to somehow rep a 9 for a straight (never has that), AK for the nut straight (never has that, he checked the turn when it got there) or running spades (almost never has that). He thought his opponent was so weak/passive that he wouldn’t call a river bet more than $80 without “a Royal Flush or better”. Because in Rice’s mind, a river bet that size might as well have been “the GDP of Italy”. I guess the dumb exaggerations were Rice’s way of justifying his failed river bluff.

I disagree, I bet if we polled 100 people a majority would agree that they would not want their life's savings that they hoped to leave behind for their kids be lost paying for their late stage dementia when they didnt even know their own name much less if they even had kids.
I know I'd be pissed if all my money that I wanted to pass on to my kids was wasted like that.
