The irony is I’m in a heavily red state and the people who are already low income and will not be able to go to work now because they have nowhere to send their kids for school likely voted for Trump.
I'm teaching at our local school today and the sped teachers are freaking out. Our choir teacher voted for Trump and she's avoiding us on this end of the building.
Somewhere in the USA services are being frozen today where it's going to result in people dying.

You can improve the program without denying a low-income 3-5 year old child access to an education and social groups. Are you ****ing high? They’re going to close the schools. Parents who can’t afford to stay home will be forced to miss work to watch their children. Rent payments will be missed. This is a complete **** you to poor families and their children. People can’t afford groceries and he’s doing this kind of insane ****?

You know who won't be affected by this? All of the parochial schools funded by parishioners and a small tuition. Those same schools by and large produce a much better end-result for attendees, even if they're subjected to some bible lessons for an hour a week.
MPS would've educated my children for $19,000 per year.
I paid less than a quarter of that to send them to a Lutheran grade school instead.

people being scared of ripping off bandaids is exactly why our nation is falling apart and we perform poorly or near the bottom of the list for all wealthy nations in nearly any quantifiable measurement, we need to fix things or at least tear down what's broken and replace it with something new - we can't just blindly adhere to the status quo out of fear of short term pain
This is not how to do it. This will cause a lot of suffering to people who are already getting the worst of things right now.

cn, if your house had asbestos you'd either relocate to a new house or find temporary housing while you got them removed - yes it'd be some short term pain and would suck to do, but it'd be objectively the best decision you could make despite how much easier it would be to just put on the blinders and ignore it

They get it, they just don't care. Nothing comes before dear leader. Every action must be defended. If they let down that guard for even a moment they would have to admit they allowed (or helped!) a fascist regime to take over the country. Their refusal to admit this even now is just going to make it even worse.
