Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
LOL at new guy accusing Victor of voting for Trump.
2025 is truly the most bizarre timeline.
I'm not new (clearly), but I made an assumption based on his Israel position. So he probably voted 3rd party, and he's a, "both sides are equal" guy. You can really only get to that position if you listen to a lot of right-wing media and/or have really bad reasoning ability.
right bc famously the right wing media makes people anti-Imperialist.
the average politics poster here is so deep in the cult that anyone saying anything remotely negative about one party to them means they are clearly supporters of the other side
they think this way because you'll never in a million years hear them say anything remotely critical about anything on their side
like look at the mental gymnastics people are still making today to argue that kamala was actually a good candidate and only lost due to racism or back when biden was getting lost on stage how they refused to acknowledge that it was clearly a problem

its literally inconceivable to them that anyone could be left of the Dems. he said that all criticism is due to right wing propaganda. I guess its like the inverse of Luciom.

No they say something very different. They say it's literally inconceivable for them that someone on the left of Dems doesn't want to admit that Dems are on the left of Republicans and so preferable for anyone on the left definitionally.
It's exactly the opposite for libertarians ofc (and this cycle they voted republican a lot because they finally got it).
Since there's no agreed upon definition of "left", maybe we should define it ?
The US Democratic Party establishment is far to the RIGHT of every other industrial democracy.
We are the only industrial democracy without universal health care and Dems don't support it in the US.
Relative to international standards, we've had two right wing parties in the US for half a century.
NYC abandoning sanctuary status and NYPD helping ICE (albeit for now only in "violent crimes" cases) wasn't on my bingo card less than 2 weeks from inauguration...

For the economics, yes, for "cultural matters" Democrats today are to the left of many european leftist parties.
Very few leftwing parties in europe want unrestricted no question asked abortion till the day of birth for example, which 7 american democrat-led states have.
On trans issues democrats went to the most radical leftist possible position
On immigration a decent portion of democrats are incredibly on the left
And so on
well I dont consume much of it so you are probably right that I wouldnt understand it. I have not seen a single anti-Imperialist right winger on this forum or in mainstream media so maybe I am just not looking in the right spot.

BJ agrees with you on Israel, Ukraine, and in general is against all interventionism.
You can't claim you haven't noticed that.
maybe theres a chance for him...
I don't understand Maga and consertvatives argument that Biden and Obama deported more than Trump, when Trump's campaign and supporters voted for argument *1 zomg illegals we must deport.
Shoulldn't you vote for biden (or dems) if you say that then?
I don't get it.

That's not even remotely true... France and many other EU countries have been FAR ahead of the US culturally on many issues. You're just making up entirely new realities now to fit your narrative.
France and many EU countries have been far ahead of the curve on trans and gay rights, then the US.
There's no radical on the day of birth abortion unless the mother's life is in danger.
You're losing the tiny sliver of credibility you have left in here when you argue like this.

Because they aren't real arguments. None of this actually affects their life. They think they score points with the argument, they think they are owning the libs so they feel strong and tough, and they don't think anymore than that.
Pointing out that the Dems are just as bad is not defending Trump. It's quite the opposite.

I made this point in here today.
I wish they could all just take a step back and consider, maybe they are being extremely manipulated.
I actually considered that we should make an entire thread and list out all the specific cases over the last couple of decades, where Republicans ran a fear based issue (that usually wasn't even a real issue). Then in office tried to execute said issue, and when pushback occurred, they attempted to make false equivalences about Democrats to justify their actions. It's exhausting to watch how many times people can get duped using the same playbook.
But none of it matters, because the real voting issue is the one we don't want to talk about or admit publically. That's the only issue that matters.

Completely inconceivable that someone could oppose mass deportations whether it's Trump or a Dem I guess
lol he thinks I was talking about him
So can we stop using the word mandate, when Trump is the least popular newly sworn in president (both times now) in the last 80 years?

No.
