Donald J. Trump (For everyone else except Victor)

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

If they do, he would be the best thing that ever happened to our health system.

50 years ago Autism was diagnosed at 1/10,000
20 years ago Autims was diagnosed at 42.5/10,000 (1/235)

Literally everything he tweets has misinformation in it

Like a lot of mental conditions, clinical diagnostic skills have improved. 20 years ago, if your kid was slightly on the spectrum, the family doc said he's fine and just a little socially awkward and will grow out of it once he gets laid.

No political weaponization of government here. Nope, none whatsoever.

Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, in a Friday memo with the subject line “Terminations,” had given FBI officials a noon deadline Tuesday to submit the names of thousands of agents and analysts. Bove previously ordered the firing of eight senior FBI officials, including those who oversaw cyber, national security and criminal investigations.

Imagine being so against democracy that you refuse people who win elections to legally reshape government functions according to their preferences as they campaigned for

Wait... what?

The people inside the trojan horse that is DJT, want to destroy democracy. That is the goal. Thiel, Musk, Andressen, Horowitz, etc... all these "tech bros" who follow Curtis Yarvin and are connected to project 2025, they want to destroy democracy and setup small corporate countries, run by CEO's, ie, dictators. They openly say this... you can watch one of their gods talk about it here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcSil8Ne...

If you do watch the above, Curtis is lying and misrepresenting his ideas. That's how you know these people are up to no good. If you have a good idea, you should be able to honestly discuss it. He tried to downplay his connections to people like Thiel, but there are reports he was at Peter's house popping champagne when Trump got elected. These guys are all liars and not good people.

I'd have thought this far-fetched for a long time until Vance was picked as VP, and Musk seized the levers of government financing this weekend. How far will these guys get? It's already further than I imagined honestly. But they have god like money and the connections.

A lot of them know this of course - it's hardly a secret - but as with all fascists they choose to spread hatred against people who they feel are a little different.

What are your qualifications to make that assessment?

Please explain to me why you need a federal department of education ?

The only two thing better for Edu in this country than getting rid of some of the federal bureaucracy would be for more states to have a school voucher system and to make it illegal for any person to belong to a union who is paid directly or indirectly by a government. Unions were formed to protect employees from the big bad corporations - not the govt.

by lozen k

Though wee pay our teachers well which you do not

Our teachers make a very good living if you look at their total compensation package. I don't think there is another profession in the country that you can say have a higher % in that field that are overpaid.

Before 1911 no one had Autism. Makes you think.

"Our" teachers... you must not have paid attention in class.

Avg teacher salary in America is $60k. It fluctuates from state to state, but teachers are underpaid for what they do. They have a very stressful and time-consuming job, that requires them to be ON at all times.

Most pay for their own supplies. People like my wife, just paid off her masters a couple of years ago. She also pays for tons of professional development, and really only has about ~6 weeks off in the summer (and shrinking) because she comes in early to prep.

It's insulting that you think they are overpaid for the importance of their job... really insulting.

Cops are the most overpaid.

Of all of the dumb **** that clown says(and it's A LOT), implying teachers in the US are overpaid or make a very good living is up there toward the top.

LOL, that reminds me of a woman I worked with many years ago. She had just gotten back from the dentist and strangely it was her first time ever. Not sure how that happened.

Anyways, we are all sitting there typing away in our cubicles and out of the blue she exclaims. "You know, I never had a cavity until I went to the dentist."

While two-thirds of U.S. teachers report receiving a pay raise in the past year, most say their base pay isn’t adequate, according to the 2024 State of the American Teacher survey, an annual gauge conducted by the research group RAND Corp. On average, teachers earned $70,464 in 2023-24, up from $68,409 the prior year.

70k. With exceptionally better-than-average retirement plan, and a tad better than average healthcare access, more vacation days that basically every other full time job in the USA.

Do we think Darren Beattie will get confirmed by the Senate? Last October, he apparently tweeted this:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-...

Beattie was fired as a Trump speechwriter in 2018 after attending a conference in which he was on a panel with Peter Brimelow, founder of VDare.

I think he doesn't deserve to get the nomination by the senate. I have no tools to estimate his chances. Will check polymarket if they price it

their pension arrangements surely scream vengeance.

But as long as the profession is that dangerous i think , at least in the areas and for the roles where you can actually die, that should get rewarded financially in really serious ways.

I mean if you add a 1% chance of death/permanent injury to a job, how higher should wages be to clear the market for the same demand for skills? 20%? 50%?

by coordi k

BoA has been very fair to me while traveling in LatAM

united has a card that has no foreign fees and will give you like 50k miles at signup (enough for a global round trip flight +) - if you like let me know and i can give you a referral and we'll chop it up

by microbet k

Cops are the most overpaid.

Disagree. Anyone who has to potentially risk their lives every time they go on a call should be compensated very well. I also believe that cops should be strenuously vetted before they get that well paying job.

Trump is still a piece of ****, in spite of the fact that I believe cops should be well paid.

It's not that dangerous. I've had far more dangerous jobs. They're just cowards.

60k, 70k, or whatever you want to draw a baseline at... that can't buy you a home in America, decent vacations, or help you build a savings. You have to mostly depend on your pension in retirement... and you can't collect Social security as a teacher. Most teachers in America barely scrape by. Most jobs don't require the education and training that you need as a teacher. You don't know what you're talking about, as per usual.

Saying that is over paid, is insulting like I said. I can say it 100 times more, but you guys haven't done anything even remotely important as getting the education necessary to teach, and teaching a classroom of children.

by MrDavitWilliam k

Huh?

Most (many?) teachers (and most Fire Fighters and most Police) don't get social security even though many (all?) have paid into it.

One of the last things passed in the Biden Admin was the Social Security Fairness Act or something like that which will allow teachers to get the social security they paid into going forward with up to one year retroactive. It hasn't been implemented yet.

The middle sentence is unequivocally true.

If I remember right, teachers in texas don't, or at least didn't, pay into social security. They have a state retirement system.

well, ok. No clue what you've done.
