The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.

Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.

How long would that have taken? Have you been following since he's taken office, it's been a full court press by the administration. Much simpler and a better negotiating tactic to apply pressure and deadlines, have the person your negotiating with propose the plan and say yes or no. That's what you do when you have leverage.

Sure, it's pretty simple to scream tarriffs, and completely shut down branches of government, and then clean up all the messes afterwards. Even easier when you're at the top and don't have to deal with the absolute chaos you've created.

But where has he gotten with Canada so far? He's got the same money already committed by Trudea in December, and a little more. I'm sure more will come through...wait for it...further discussions and negotations by the adults in the room.

by Shifty86 k

Ok? Now he has Mexico and Canada supplying 10,000 troops at their borders, plus funding, plus everything else and can now focus on fentanyl domestically. All while still holding all the leverage and can make more demands in 29 days.

You should really just apply for the role of White House spokesperson! Of course the "10,000 troops at their borders", in Canada's case isn't really troops it is "frontline personnel" who either already are (i.e. no gain) or going to be going to the border. And the 1.3 billion he pledged was the same 1.3 billion he pledged back in December. Most of this is just pointless and will likely do anything to cut that 1% of fentanyl. But it is an interesting idea that only NOW can he "focus on fentanyl domestically". As I've said all along, it makes WAY more sense to focus on fentanyl domestically, but my guess is shocker of shocker he ain't going to do **** on that.

Funny how shifty beloved menacing their best friends for so little it’s all good …

Right for you shifty -> 1m to 1m45 mark …

Man this sketch pretty accurate …
Not surprising since trump represent a good parody of a president .

Ya I thought something similar. It's one of those things like the auto-theft exports at port of montreal, and I haven't quite got a full finger on why it is the way it is. I think it is ultimately logistical. Port of vancouver gets about 1.5 million containers a year. CBSA investigates about 4% of these containers...and you have to imagine "investigate" itself is quite a range from like opening it up and glancing inside versus a full deconstruction that finds the bit of fentanyl precursor at the

I assume it’s corruption that goes on in Quebec . It’s sad to see some guy car is stolen he has a tracker and knows which container it’s in and the police do nothing

I'm not sure why you are so concerned about the phraseology. This looks like troops to me:

Canada and Mexico have less than 30 days. Watch for some results being announced over the next couple of weeks. Or we go back to talking about all the pain and suffering that's going to happen because of 25% tariffs.

I still cannot believe how Trump salvaged Justin's legacy in the history books. Never saw it coming.

That's Mexico. This is the Canada thread. I was talking about Canada. Although I'm sure Canada will also try to capture some nice looking but totally empty visuals so that you and Trump can feel you've "won" something when what you've "won" is backing down and letting the status quo essentially remain.

I'm sure it won't be enough - not nearly - but Trump declaring war on Canada and Trudeau rising up like some gladiator of the ages to protect us and get Trump to back down is about the best possible narrative the Liberals could ever hope for.

Cool, I said Canada and Mexico because they agreed to the same deal with USA.

Do you not know how to follow a conversation? I specifically noted that in Canada it was "frontline personnel" many of whom were already there (i.e. no real concession). You quoted me and responded by saying the mexican troops looked like troops to you. You can't just respond to someone's comment about one country with a different country and pretend you've won something.

Look, you're clearly desperate to claim some win on behalf of your leader after he fecklessly caved. So sure. Let's give you mexico. Yes, shifty, the photo-ops of Mexican troops doing the exact same thing they did during the 1st trump administration (but only 10k not 15k this time) is a huge win for your team. Go sing from the rafters. The fentanyl crisis is half solved, I expect rates to drop (more than they are already dropping) any day now!

Nah, I'm not a loser who gets excited from political "wins". You are the one that's been setting the stage for a big Trudeau win, even posted within minutes of the deal being announced how big of a win this was for Trudeau. Is there anything Trudeau can't do? First he saved the world from climate change by implementing a carbon tax, saved Canadians from dying of COVID and now he saved Canadians from Trump inflicting massive pain and suffering..

Right. Your "phraseology" was just false for Canada - he didn't promise any "troops". I have no idea why you thought a picture of Mexican "troops" was a response to my point. Bizarre.

Ok let's put this in terms maybe you'll understand since you seem really upset by the lingo of "winning". Your guy bluffed. Trudeau raised. Your guy folded. Trudeau had to give up ~nothing and we don't have economy destroying tariffs. That's a GOOD thing. You should be overjoyed. If you are very very very upset about calling it a "win" for Canada maybe try "I'm just so happy my fellow countrymen are not suffering due to Trump right now".

Your phrase that Canada does not have a border migration problem is 100% false . As the story says the preferred entry point for folks on the terrorist list is twice as many as Mexico

by lozen k

Your phrase that Canada does not have a border migration problem is 100% false .

When did I say this?

I've said that less than 1% of the fentanyl seized comes from Canada. I've said that Canada has an 8km long porous border where billions of goods and services cross it every day, making it exceedingly hard to "secure" it in a meaningful way. I've said that if you care about fentanyl - the claim of the executive order - then there are a tonne of things you should prioritize domestically as opposed to threatening your friends.

But I didn't say what you accused. So stop making things up.

I still cannot believe how Trump salvaged Justin's legacy in the history books. Never saw it coming.

I always figure Justin wasn’t worst then trump shrug .
I’m not really surprise .
Justin had clear flaws (terrible in some areas) but he wasn’t as bad as conservative made out to be .
Trump is horrible on almost anything he touches …

With carney at the helm , good chance now polievre wont have a majority.
Especially be trump. I guess people will want to hear carney in the action .

Ironic that a movement like maga , hating anything resembling liberal or left are the reason liberals won’t get crush here .

Because Canadians are cucks and we don't really have a true conservative to vote for besides Max Bernier.

Wasn't a picture, it was a new clip. I know you have trouble following conversation but because you argued Mexico wasn't sending troops.

No tariffs for 30 days....I'm not overjoyed because the same government you are praising is the reason Canada is so susceptible to something like this happening. Now I will be "overjoyed" if after Friday's summit Canada embraces it's resources and announces changes to provincial trade and a few pipelines east through Quebec not entering the US. Ends the carbon tax and lowers income tax to be more competitive with our neighbor. Also completely pausing our broken immigration system until it's fixed would be nice. The list goes on but for now that'd be nice.

Lmao. The ineptitude of a reading comprehension fail that large and then trying to pretend *I* have trouble following a conversation. Like buddy the words IN CANADA'S CASE were right there for you so you could avoid making a fool of yourself.

Oops.

As much as I do not agree with some of his policies and some I do He seems to be keeping his campaign promises this time. Justin never kept many . Though Trump may destroy parts of the USA Justin already has destroyed Canada .

No pipeline will ever cross Quebec as Quebec only cares about Quebec and as for provincial trade barriers good luck on that as well BC is terrible on that and I can only guess that Quebec is up there as well
