The point was hamas goal seems to be goading Israel into restarting the war and getting as many Palestinians killed as possible.

And they may just get their wish. Given Trump is in office and the world is very distracted with Ukraine right now, the mocking and cruelty seems like a very poor tactic.

Hamas only real leverage is liberal tears. And with all the focus on Ukraine they might be overplaying their hand.

By "Israeli right" I think I am being more inclusive than you are, and not referring specifically to the Ben Gvir extreme right.

Regardless, a West Bank Hamas branch seems to have taken credit for the botched bus bombs; and one of the bodies (of the mother) was not correct; so this on top of the music festival to return the bodies, it definitely seems Hamas is doing everything it can to get fighting to restart.

If I was conspiratorial minded, I would conclude this may have been coordinated with Putin, to distract from the Ukraine negotiations.
