President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

It wasn't classified info.... but we can't let the public hear it.

Mmmm...

"Since nothing was classified, can the reporter release the entire discourse without any liability at the federal level?"

"I think you're asking me a legal question, and I can't answer that."

"Okay, then I'll ask you, Mr. Patel, since you're a lawyer and the director of the FBI: would he face any legal liability at the federal level if he released the information?"

I assume the legality of this is the same for releasing partial discourse (which he did) vs the entire discourse.

Doesn't seem to be the right question to be asking.

Pete buttigieg pretty much nails it here.

No more BS DEI talk. No more BS talk about accountability. And no more excuses and double standards.

This administration just continually proves what it rails against. DEI is needed, so we're not hiring incompetent white boys.

I don't think so. There is a higher bar on specific sensitive details that were omitted. I'm sure JG did a thorough legal consultation on his choices here.

Why? It was stated that he didn't release all the information and they said there was nothing classified. Ratcliffe stated that the reporter thinks he said he thought the information was classified and that's the reason he didn't release it but it wasn't classified.

Anywho, it was 2 hours long. Lots of right questions were asked and the answers were: "I don't recall."

what? he thought the information was classified but released it anyways? bad set of facts for him

It only buys a few years if we dont ever fix anything when we get the chance. Then they come back stronger expoliting the even more ****ed up system.

In the USA specifically, at the federal level, the Senate filibuster is the major roadblock for any actual meaningful legislative change.

Some progressives wanted to remove it but if they had managed to, it would just have meant republicans back in power could undo everything.

The system is built on purpose to make meaningful change impossible unless super majorities agree, that's simply it.

A feature not a bug, then obviously depending on your preferences you can think it's a bad feature or a good one

Well, part of proper controls of classified materials is the clear marking of said classified materials.

The whole situation is a giant can of worms where head should roll. There is zero question about it.

And no, Goldbergs head shouldn't be the one that is rolling.

Signal chat deletion was the reason behind their lax controls and the meat and potatoes of whats actually going on here

by coordi k

And no, Goldbergs head shouldn't be the one that is rolling.

Obviously agree, but not ruling it out due to this administration.

Of course, doing so would probably create bigger problems for them, so it's not likely.

Easier to wash it away by simply saying not classified. Which I guess is true, since wasn't marked as such?

These people are confirmed idiots, yet you somehow managed to make them look like geniuses in comparison to you. That's quite an achievement.

I had to look these up, because I never believe these kinds of memes.

There's no language "Sudanese", and many different languages in Nigeria, so I expect some of the rest is baloney too.

by FreakDaddy k

We can't even get Trump supporters to understand that the actual purpose of DEIA to begin with was to expand the hiring pool to ensure more competent hires, not the other way around.

It's a real mystery why we can't get them to understand this. I wonder white it can be. 😉 😀 😉 :(

Come on ….
You know only white people are really competent !

Supposedly, in recent Nigerian pidgin, 'maga' means a mug (as the English would put it) or a dupe. Or a mark or a rube in US English.

It seems to stem not from the English 'mug' but from the Yoruba 'mugun', meaning a fool, and it's taken off in the last decade because of the prevalence of internet scams, with which Nigerians are notoriously not unfamiliar.

Srs?

It worked like this:

Message: We're gonna bomb the fukk out of those bastards because Trump is against war and this is when and how we're going to do it.

Reporter: Hmmm. This has to be a troll, but since this administration is a filled with reetards, I will keep it to myself.

Military: Bombs exactly how and when.

Reporter: This is real. I will exit out of chat.

If he reads a message indicating what the military plans are and those plans are executed, it's really not a secret anymore since everyone on the plant knew it happened.

That was all he shared - what you read in the newspaper about the attack, and he shared that they are all reetards (but that's not exactly top secret either).

I think you guys are underestimating how ******ed the thing was because The Atlantic is a hyper-globalist, technocratic centrist source so it's not like "they added a journalist to the chat", they added what they systematically for the last years described as basically Satan to the chat.

Lol at the idea that Goldberg head should roll this is going to propel him higher (and for good reasons).

He even kept the events secret until exposing them caused no damage to imminent american interest, that's professionalism

Maga or mugu does mean fool, I think in Nigerian pidgin, but I'm not certain if it's that specific language.

Well, they could try to say that their assessment determined there was no classified information being communicated in the chat but that would lead to the release of the chat log and any mention of targets, timings, assets, weapons systems, or similar would indicate they are lying or just classified it wrong, which the distinction is fairly moot.

Based on the hearing its pretty clear there was classified information in the chat. How they sweep it under the rug could be interesting but ultimately I would guess it just kind of gets lost in all the other things goin on, like most controversy with this administration

Wow. For you to not finish off the first paragraph of your post with, "...so obviously he was added on purpose for 4d intergalactic chess strategy" is impressive.

Honestly this White House is going down as an all timer. Y'all really did it.

It's actually amazing that SNL has still managed to be so BAD during this. The jokes are endless.

It's actually harder to parody something that is already a joke.

How can you parody a clown car?

by ecriture d'adulte k

It's actually harder to parody something that is already a joke.

That's the opposite of true. As if it would be easier to parody James Baker or George Kennan than Pete Hegseth.

if there a wrong/correct way to classify legally? I thought it was all arbitrary and decided by the executive

Been talking to friends in Europe, you say you're American abroad now and it's pure jokes. It's like having your wife **** the whole country club, and then you have to go shake hands with everyone there for brunch on Sunday.

I have absolutely no idea how 4 years of this goes. It's beyond predicting at this point.
