2025 NFL Off Season Thread
Key Dates
February
February 18 β The first day clubs can designate franchise or transition players.
February 24-March 3 β
Ashton Jeanty not running 40 at pro day or combine...similar to Marv Harrison Jr last year...seems to be the beginning of a trend that will lead to a lot of 'sure thing' type prospects not doing the lycra olympics moving forward. I totally understand it and tbh have always thought some of the combine tests are stupid, but it's a shame because as a fan, I love seeing how they all stack up
I think in game speed is more important.
Does college football have anything like Next Gen stats where they can measure how fast a player is during a game?
I don't think this precludes them from taking Sanders either. Not like either Wilson or Winston are long-term options. But they gotta show progress. If they can put together a reasonably capable offense with one of those two and then also have Sanders waiting in the wings long term, at least get up to mediocre status, that might be enough to save them. If they get the first pic
struggling to think of a better pair of mentors for Shedeur after Wilson and Winston unless Watson becomes available
this caused me to spend 5 mins on this page.

feels like there's a Terry McLaurin and probably a Courtland Sutton extension coming soon
the Mike Evans contract looks a little out of place IMO. It was a little weird at the time too tbh. If he doesn't re-sign this offseason, I think it'll show there's a decent chance he wants to retire at the end of 2025. Which I hope he doesn't because I love him, albeit it would be kind of cool if he can have another 1k season and then leave a year early with the purity of his stat record intact

I randomly saw a Bomani Jones grab the other day where he described Jameis and Russ as a buddy cop movie and I canβt stop thinking about that now.
Would be so great if they could somehow be on Hard Knocks albeit I know itβs not happening
my god that hard knocks would be amazing
i miss drawn butterfingers

Holy **** Iβd go to the theaters to watch that buddy cop movie.
Okay so nobody here bit on the idiotic Dak-to-Cleveland rumor, well done 2+2
for others itt, i'm curious who your OT1 is:
for me it's Missouri's Armand Membou:
- 9' 7" broad jump (super elite and pertinent to the position)
- 6' 4", 332 pds
- turned 21 yrs old today
- great tape, massive upside
- - - - - - - - - -
on an unrelated note, did y'all see Mike Green's three-cone (at 250 pds)? 6.85 seconds. hot googly moogly!

found myself on the Patriots cap chart this morning (wondering if they might trade for Aiyuk....they should)
oh my Lord it's grim. Still $62m under for this year but look at the talent they're paying. With the exception of Barmore (who is badly injured and might need to retire) , they have no one who is even close to a blue chip talent and I wasn't certain what position 4 of the other top 7 on their cap actually play and then the others for whom I do recognise near the top of their cap payments...Landry, Bourne, Davis, Peppers, Diggs, Henry...are all on their 2nd or 3rd teams and are all 'pay and hope' type signings.
whatever else gets said about Bellichik and his coaching legacy....he left a giant mess at that place roster wise.
so mike williams just career arc flashed back to la charbaughs
huh
Two new rules.
Touchback now at the 35 yard line. No current change to onside kick format, but that’ll be revisited in May.
Both teams will now have a chance to possess in regular season OT. Time still remains at 10 mins.
I guess some replay correction is better than none. It's probably going to lead to more flags being thrown, knowing they can review and reverse.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution, and I still think that's allowing coaches to challenge certain penalties.
I care far more about the incorrect penalties that are called than missing penalties. Football penalties are way too imbalanced to begin with, so giving a team 15 yards and a first down is a way bigger deal than missing a facemask or a roughing the passer penalty which generally have little to no outcome on the actual play.
there's a clear contradiction in here. Rooney describes Aaron Rodgers getting closer to a deal with the Steelers as a 'positive sign'
although then maybe....
The method for measuring first downs in the NFL will switch from chain gangs to camera-based technology in 2025, the league announced.
The traditional chain crew will remain on the sidelines in a secondary capacity.
****ing finally
I think that’s most likely. But the NFL seems to think it’ll basically double return rates, from 33% to 60-70%.
