2025 WSOP!!
I know itβs early and normally Iβm not excited about WSOP this soon after but dang it, Iβm itching to go back already!

Does anyone know how secure the hotel room safes are in Vegas?
I tend to bring a bit cash with me to Vegas in June to get me started with various tournaments. I leave the cash in my room safe but Iβm never certain that if some weasel gets into my room during the day (maybe while the maid is cleaning) he canβt get into my safe.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I have played at The WSOP since 2006 and been going to Las Vegas since 1984 In years past I have also carried significant cash and relied on the room safe at the Rio for years and the Horseshoe as well as several other Casino's in years past. Personally I have NEVER had any issue whatsoever with ANYTHING in my room and or safe. If it really is of major concern to you consider going to the Casino cage and buying large denomination chips and carry them on your person maybe in a hidden neck bag for complete security.
Now i think that is serious overkill but other than being robbed at gun point it should be 100% safe. Personally I just use the room safe and or fund a TBIC account for my WSOP buyins. Note it doesn't hurt to leave a tip daily for the maid / room service they not only appreciate but gives them an added incentive to be completely honest (also they clean better LOL ). Again personally the room safes are probably much more secure than carrying a load of cash in a wallet or your pocket.
Day 2 for any WSOP tournament will always be the day immediately after the final day 1 flight, whenever that happens to be.
In your example, I would plan on day 2 being Thursday, July 10th.
Makes sense and what I figured. I just didn't know if there was some big event or something that would have made it Friday.
Thanks!
How do other non-Americans bring US dollars to Vegas if not in cash?
Please note that I play lots of lower buy-in tournaments in June but not just at the WSOP. I don’t think all tournament series take credit cards and even if they do, fees & conversion rates tend to be high.

Travelers checks?
I haven't heard of any tales of woe wrt money being taken from hotel room safes, but the "secret" code is known by probably half the staff, including maintenance guys. I checked into a room once and the safe was locked, so I called down. I expected a security guy to show up but a maintenance guy did. I also expected a complex procedure needed, but it took literally under 5 seconds to open it. Do a youtube search and then make your decision. Besides the secret code, there are physical ways ti force the door open.
Hotel room safes are mostly fine. Entry to your room is monitored/logged as every major hotel uses electronic key cards.
Yes the safes are probably not too complicated to break into but someone would need to know you have money ( a large amount) in your safe, get in your room and break into the safe.
You would have to be targeted, known high roller or whale. Random maids/maintenance people are unlikely to go on a robbing spree of hotel room safes. The risk is simply not worth the reward for staff or non employees.
Obviously do what you are comfortable with, but unless you are bringing a large sum of cash I don't think it's a concern.
There are a fair number of threads on this in these forums, new and old, and maybe a few known instances of room break ins, but if my memory is still good it has always been a known player/high roller who was targeted.
If you're too nervous about leaving a significant amount of money in your room safe, you can always get a safe deposit box in the casino. I recall hearing in previous years (maybe by Kevmath) that there's a separate tournament registration window right next to the safe deposit boxes, as a convenience. If that's the case, then you would likely have a shorter line to wait on when registering. However, I've never been to the safe deposit room to see if there truly is a registration window there, and I don't know the cost for the safety deposit boxes. Perhaps others in the forum can comment on the validity of this info...

got a couple of stories about the rio safe...I checked in room, safe locked, security/maintenance came up and opened it in short order, previous tenant left a sandwich in there. Plain white bread no plastic wrap or bag just a sandwich sitting there. pretty gross but at least it wasn't tuna.
2nd one was on me but ended well. I had a late night cash session the night before which was very profitable,
and the next morning I was dragging. Had a morning start for some day one, ran out the door, came back to my room at dinner break and my safe was open/unlocked.... I can't remember how much I had but probably close to 20k easily. I had a little freak out but I checked it was all there. I'm pretty generous with housekeeping always greet them when passing them in the hall so I guess it pays to be nice. This was back in the day when they had coffee makers, Keurag, and they would always load me up with extras.
I'll also be playing that one. I've played in the past and enjoyed it. For hotel options, I'd consider switching to Cosmopolitan. There is surface street crossing (no sky bridge) right outside their front door that puts you in front of PHo with a short walk in the side door of Paris to get to the WSOP convention space. Also, much, much, much better food options in Cosmopoli
Iβd 100% stay at Cosmo if prices are remotely close. Hotel is great and itβs an easy walk. Iβm not getting good deals there for my 10 day trip. I have a good offer from Paris so I may stay there but my experience with Caesars hotels has never been great.
I contacted WSOP and they gave me the following information:
- Direct wires to WSOP are $100k minimum
- They are not yet sure if they will be using Bravo again this summer
- They are currently testing a new software provider for tournament registrations and they will post instructions once everything is finalized
In case anyone else was wondering.
I'm going to bring 6k in cash which is under the reporting limit (enough for my initial buy ins) and while I'm there I'll figure it out with the new software they have. Hopefully it has some fee-free direct wire system.
You'd assume Poker Atlas. Wynn and Venetian switched from Bravo to Atlas within the last year or two.
I suppose it could be some weird GG thing, but Atlas was my immediate instinct. If so, the software has some nice advantages. There's more automation and precision with Atlas in general. Given the logistical headaches of the WSOP, I imagine that would be welcome. For example, if a player busts, the dealer can instantly bust them out on the touch screen. It's going to be a more accurate system for determining knockout order than whatever the WSOP is doing right now where you stand at your table and wait for someone to find you. Atlas also has tools for expediting table breaks and redraws.
I think/hope it’s the wsop+ app they used in the Bahamas in December.

I can't imagine them spending the money to put the IPads (or whatever they are) on each table for Poker Atlas. And I definitely can't see them training WSOP dealers to use them, especially since many of the dealers are super new to dealing in general and have a hard enough time just dealing cards. Maybe there's a way to use Poker Atlas where it can be for buyins only.
The system they have in place for bustouts in the money is fine from what I've seen. I definitely wouldn't trust WSOP dealers to do a better job.
Fair points. I think Brian is probably right here. It's probably their own thing.

Consider using a preapproved by CET Cashiers Check to set up a TBIC account for the WSOP buy ins - easy procedure.
It would feel weird using something other than Bravo. Say it ain't so. I haven't seen anything definitive on the subject.
Looks like they are sticking with the Bravo app for now..
Online registration is an option again this year using Bravo Poker Live, the vendor who has supplied the WSOP registration and payout program software since 2016.
I can't use Bravo until i'm actually in Vegas as I need to register for Caesars Rewards in person lol hope I have 0 problems
I see where Rio has some smoking Expedia deals and pics show that the rooms seem to have been nicely refurbished. I will drive to Vegas and have a car at my disposal. Anyone else considering staying at the Rio? I see the only drawback as involving the dinner break situation. If I stay at the 'shoe I would have a sub sandwich waiting for me in my room 'fridge for the dinner break. If I don't stay at the 'shoe I have battle the dinner break mob at the food court or elsewhere. Thoughts?

I stayed at the Rio last summer and yup, enjoyed it. I would not use your vehicle, and opt for the bus instead (2$), which is a single bus stop away (5 minutes) from the Horseshoe/Paris and you can avoid to wait (runs about every 10-15 minutes) by downloading the Transit app. As far as food goes, there are many options close to the Paris, but if a sandwich, fruits or salad is your go-to, simply buy it across the street from the Rio at the Wallgreen's while timing it with your bus ride. GL
Btw : did you find any noticeable deals for the Rio, as I have been checking and have nothing interesting thus far (I got an average of 75$/night (all fees included) for my 3 week stint last year).

Same here. Going to bring some cash for the first few events while I sign up at Caesars. Then I'll try to wire the bulk of the money in. Hope everything works smooth.
i remember being able to get TRAVEL + HOTEL combined for 5 nights for like 675-700$ total at rio.
that's flight to and back and 5 nights for like 650-700$ a year or two ag and I thought that was a really good deal.
tbh it seems with all the news vegas prices are lower than they wre last year for whatever reason. ive noticed prices since fbruary have dropped 5-10% in some cases

If you literally mean Wire Transfer money to the WSOP they have a $100,000 minimum transfer rule starting last year. You might be able to arrange a smaller amount to the Casino Cage but as been previously discussed they frown on attempts to use them as a poker bank.

They keep sending me 4 free nights emails, possibly because I used to stay there a lot. It's not a super great deal though because I have to pay resort fees so it's only about $25 a night less than you paid.
