NCAA Basketball Thread 2024-2025

Quick OP here just to get us up and running

Things to watch for this year:

1. Can UConn 3-peat? Hurley won back to back championships with Clingan, Tristen Newton, and company. Can he make it a third with only one returning starter?

2. Who will be this years national player of the year? Zach Edey was the best player I've seen play college basketball in my lifetime. People throw the term generational talent around alot and Edey was truly a generational talent winning back to back national player of the year awards. But, now he's gone. So who can win the award?

- the 5th year guards in Mark Sears(Alabama) and RJ Davis(UNC) are a good spot to start. Both elite shooters and engines of an offense, they should lead two really good teams.

- the 5th year centers in Hunter Dickinson(Kansas) and Ryan Kallbrenner(Creighton) are also viable options. They'll be the anchors to what should be two really good teams.

- The phenoms: Cooper Flagg(Duke), Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper(Rutgers), VJ Edgecombe(Baylor), and Tre Johnson(Texas) lead a loaded freshman class.

3. Who are the contenders?

SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW

LMFAO

Houston better win the whole ****ing thing. Do not waste this!

I simply cannot believe what just happened.

All time game. Felt like Houston had zero chance the entire second half LOL wow

All those championships they got with Flagg and Zion. Warms the heart.

Rooting for Houston in the final

They won't, but 2nd is nothing to be upset about.

Cryer looks 42 years old. Damn

64-55 with 2:15 to go.

As a Michigan fan (1-5 in championship games) I can't argue with that.

I felt like Hou had no chance for a legit full 38 minutes. Like, zero percent. I believed the equity was 0.

Horrendous hairline.

Also please gif that crying Dook fan

I genuinely believed it was 0% too. Would not have even live bet Houston if the odds were +million. I think that was the most improbable comeback I've watched in a long time.

All six of Houston's F4 teams have lost to the title winning team, either in the semis of the finals.

It was wild.

Well that crushed my Florida/Duke final game bets. I was thinking a lot of these Houston defensive type "make it a wrestling match" teams have been making the F4 lately, and none winning. Got me. Doesn't shock me other than Flagg having a huge game and they still overcome it. I guess 1 FG in last 10 minutes for Duke says it all.

HOU were +3600 with 8 mins left and that feels like a joke line considering how outclassed they were the entire game. Just cannot believe they won what the actual **** is that?

I'd have to rewatch it but they figured out severall exploitable bugs in the Dook switching scheme around halftime. Maluach looked borderline unplayable in the 2nd half and finished with 0 rebounds for the game.

Dook is on a hell of a run.

In 22, K's career ends against UNC in the FF.

In 24, state takes out dook in the E8.

In 25, they blow a 9 point lead with 2 mins to go with the natty on the line.

Duke was a great team but they weren't battle tested. Playing in a minor league conference hurt them catastrophically.

Scheyer is ten million times more likable than Ratface. Like I'm tryna be a hater and can't even hate after that postgame he gave.

All six of Houston's F4 teams have lost to the title winning team, either in the semis or the finals.

1967 -- UCLA Alcindor team
1968 -- UCLA again
1982 -- North Carolina Worthy/Perkins/Jordan team
1983 -- NC State
1984 -- Georgetown Ewing's only title team
2021 -- Baylor team that routed undefeated Gonzaga in title game

Five monsters and a monster upset.

True. Fatigue. Like the late rounds of boxing match. Attrition.
