What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Yesterday hit it like crap.... Terrible conditions.

Today hit it good but putted like a donkey. Tough conditions. Missed so many short putts and had a few 3 putts. Weird about today I felt like I was going at around 60% when swinging the club. Still went the distance it should do just felt like I had 0 speed but the strike was great.

Course is probably ~1-2 weeks away from opening. Can't wait. Swing currently feels terrible though, have kind of lost it through winter practice.

43-40-83. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 67.4/120/5729 yards.

Ball striking was mostly awful. Chipping and pitching, partly awful. But I scrambled and got up and down often enough that the score wasn't bad.

43-41-84. No birdies, 3 double bogeys. 67.8/126/5573.

I know it's Easter and all but still, I was stunned that the course was deserted. Got around in 3.5 hours without hurrying, never anyone around. I wish I'd known, I would have gone out this morning and made it a 36 hole day.

Ball striking was weirdly inconsistent on the front nine. Changed a few things on the back and got into a nice groove. Chipping/pitching mostly really bad. Putting has been pretty decent, need to get a few more to drop.

Somebody sent me a funny video today of a guy up against an OB fence almost, about a foot away. He's punching out, stabs at it, it pops up, he double hits it on his recoil, and it goes backwards OB over the fence. Double-hit backwards OB. Is that 5 shots?

double hit isn't a penalty anymore. that video is excellent though!

so from his lie next to the boundary fence it is, hit (+ double hit) = +1 stroke, ball goes out of bounds, stroke and distance (+1 stroke) to an appropriate drop from where he hit before

exactly, so if he was hitting 2, he's now hitting 4 after the drop.

+5 today which is playing to a 14 handicap round my track off the yellow/mid tee’s, 1 birdie, 1 double 4 bogeys

Hitting the ball so much better. Putter needs some work but the greens are meh and really slow. Few to many 3 putts.

I think I need to play a bit smarter now more so into shorter Par 4’s getting these awkward little pitches about 60 yards.

Left shot not so much in my game. Think I figured that I’m not turning when on the downswing and just flipping my hands. It’s still there but I’ve really focused on making sure I’m fully turning through.

Saturday - Par 72 never played before. +30 (+13/+17) Cold and windy and just terrible. Started quad, par, par, par. 1st drive I never saw. Provisional went in the hazard. 36 putts. Lost 5 balls. Round to forget.
Sunday - Par 71 I shot +18 at earlier in the year. +20 (+9/+11) Way better than day before. Was +13 thru 14 but exploded for a 3-putt par from 18ft on 15. Then the rain started. 3-putt double on 16, bogey on 17 and triple on 18. 39 putts.
Today - Same course as Sunday. +25 (+11/+14). Made a birdie and 4 pars, unfortunately averaged double the rest of the way. Brutally bad chipping. Thin. Fat. Really awful. Haven't chipped this bad all year. Finished par/par with a 5-iron draw around a tree to 15 feet that had to be one of my best iron shots ever. 34 putts. 6 1-putts, but 4 3-whacks.
Back at it Wednesday/

54/9 One par, two bogies, two snowmen. First round up north. Same old...

Taking my 22 round sub-100 streak on the road for a tough test - Pasatiempo at noon on Saturday. LFG!

After yesterday's round, I left my phone# in case any leagues needed a sub. Guy calls me up today and asks me to join his team. We play 18 today at the same course to get a hcp. 56-50, two pars, two bogies, but no snowmen!

Played the same Par 71 on Wednesday. Have scored +18, +20, and +25 in rounds there so far this year. Got paired with a guy and gal sharing clubs. Ugh.

+21 (+10/+11) for 92. Hit 6/14 fairways and 4/18 greens, but 3-whacked 2 of them. The 3-putt bogey is my thing I guess. 36 putts. 3 1-putts, 3 3-putts. Made a 30 foot par putt. 3 pars, 4 doubles and a triple.

Playing the same course again today.

Start of our Friday night roll up tonight played pretty poor. It’s the 1st time we are back on actual grass tee’s we are quite late because the greenkeeper wants the kids to go back to school before opening them up. However they are terrible, He cut them because he left a few grass cuttings on them but they are way too long. Literally like playing out of rough, if you’re hitting an iron ain’t no way you’re compressing the ball, As aspected caught some high in the face and come out dead. We are only a small club but our head green keeper is terrible doesn’t have a clue. We had this conversation with him last year and he sorted it out, Just frustrating. Rant over.

good luck with breaking 100, but i think you're going to love it either way...please share a trip report with pics if you're so inclined

+3 today in a comp. 4 Birdies 5 Bogeys 1 Double.

Finished terrible. 3 putt 16 for a bogey. 17 drove it under a tree took a drop. Did well to get it into the greenside bunker. Hit a awesome bunker shot to tap in distance and somehow missed it. 18 really bad wedge shot put it into a bunker and didn't get up and down.

Taking the positive out of today though finally put a decent round together.

41-42-83. No birdies, 2 double bogeys. 66.8/118/5,590 yards.

Cold (45F) and windy, not the most beautiful day. Ball striking was inconsistent but there were some shots that made me think it's close. Hit some really good pitches and bunker shots. Could not get a putt to drop but I think I only had two 3 putts.

Wasn't going to play today, but the weather is beautiful and I wanted to wash the terrible taste from yesterday out of my mouth.
Got paired with a good golfer just getting back into it. He shot 80 with a triple and 2 doubles.

Played this course twice so far this year and shot +19 both times.

1 birdie, 7 pars, 7 bogeys, 2 doubles and a triple.

37 putts. 3 1-putts, 4 3-putts. Missed 4 putts within 5 feet.

10 rounds in April to start the season. 8 below 100, 2 below 90. Making progress. Gonna practice for a few days and then play again Wednesday.

BE, seems you’re in the optimal spot where the most meaningful thing you can do to improve your game is to keep playing as much as possible.

Beautiful 20 degree day yesterday. Light rain today of course. Course opens on Wednesday. Can't wait.

Where do you live? Last year I played my first round on like March 12. Finally got out today for 9 (and it's not like I haven't wanted to go.....the weather has absolutely sucked). 3 pars, 2 doubles, 44.

Played 2 bonus holes (you have to play 11 to finish near the "club house") and finished quad-par.

Muddy, plugged balls, but fun.

Member/Member this weekend. We were in Group.

Saturday front 9: best ball, both me and partner getting 2 shots.
Saturday back 9: shamble, we got 1 shot
Sunday front 9: best ball, both getting 2 shots
Sunday back 9: Chapman, we got 2 shots.

Saturday shoot a gross 69, net 65. 3rd place 4 shots back.
Sunday shoot a net 69 and everyone else in our flight shits the bed and we win flight by 1 shot.

Made it past the first hole of the shootout but lost out on the second hole, finished 5th.
