Maybe you are a poker player who only makes $7.62 an hour and yes then it isn’t worth the $15 for you- please keep sitting in the traffic. This way the $15 lane is nice and open for those providing value to society- ya know the people who’s time is actually worth something
*******s?

i guess since those lanes are always empty that 99.9% of one of the wealthiest areas in the entire world are people who don't contribute anything to society
thanks for outing yourself as complete utter trash btw
Or the bus. The lanes are empty to help buses and people who are willing to pay through. Sorry to those in the middle who get squeezed but the system makes a lot of sense…

It does not make sense to have roads built and then deliberately priced to be way under capacity. The most efficient thing to do would be to lower the cost of the toll until it is at a point where the road/lane is getting a large amount of use but still a bit faster than the free / unrestricted route.
actually that makes perfect sense if you want to incentivize people to ride the bus instead of clogging up the smaller city streets with their personal cars once they get off this big highway
I want to own my own road and make people pay to use it... maybe something like Nurburgring
You either have a low IQ or aren’t thinking this through at all. If the bus is free but gets stuck in traffic- that’s not going to get all these wealthy suburbanites out of their single occupancy vehicles

I was talking about the people who can't easily afford paying the toll, as were you in the post I quoted. Try to follow the conversation.
The goal is to incentivize the most people. As was pointed out- this is a very wealthy part of the world where most people can easily afford bus fare but might bristle at a 1hr commute vs 20mins. Only a very small percent are low earners like rickroll who see the 40mins each way of time savings for $7.50 as a ripoff
The idea to 'incentivize' is the real rip-off... individual liberties outweighs any idealistic pollyana lifestyle of uniformity and alignment of the masses, and erosion thereof is the slippery of slipperies.
IQ taken into account of course.

Putting baseless insults into every post isn't helping your argument.
Thanks. I was attracted to the lower cost of living and low crime in the Laughlin area compared to other cities/states with live poker. I live in FL now and we have plenty of poker but this area is getting way too expensive. Reno and Vegas are interesting but I think they are fairly expensive, or at least a lot more than they were years ago.Any other suggestions for US cities/
I’m one of the few people under 50 that enjoys Laughlin. It’s great for a few days of relaxing lay back atmosphere along the river. Not sure if I’d ever move there. There’s really nothing much in Laughlin. Although if you need to go Home Depot or whatever it’s just across the river in Bullhead. Food options are somewhat limited if you want anything beyond bacon and eggs, burgers and a steak for dinner.
The benefits there’s supposedly some nice quiet condos, townhomes etc. 1.5 hours from Vegas. If you like hanging out in old school casinos with 80s - 90s vibes it’s a good option. **** the more I think about it the more I’m ready to move.

We have decided that murder is bad for society so we incentivize people not to do it.
We have decided that single occupancy vehicles are bad for the greater Seattle area so we incentivize people not to do it.
You know slippery slope arguments are fallacies right?
My arguments hold up fine regardless. I included my comments not to try to help my case but simply because I think you’re dumb and he’s cheap
You think I'm dumb because you didn't understand that I was referring to the your post which I quoted.
Anyone who has studied economics or even has any common sense should know that it is inefficient to have extra lanes which are barely used and could handle a much greater capacity without a significant slowdown.
The efficiency is created by the benefits awarded to the buses that get to move faster and to those who pay for the privilege.
And if you are so smart and have studied so much about economics- maybe you should try researching if adding more lanes leads to less traffic. The answer is typically no.

it's more like save 8 minutes for $17.50
and i like to be humble, but there's zero chance your networth is higher than mine

making false equivalency statements, as if factual in nature, in an effort to bolster a position is a non sequitur. these ^ two above do not clarify, in any way, your original over generalization.

this collection of words are non-relatable in that they don't really convey a message that is applicable to the original questioning of using mandates or a false benefits as positivity for society.
In order for there to be, we would need to agree on what a 'positive' is... Is it uniformity, conformity and pollyanna... or is it free will and happiness?
seattle area has horrendous traffic because they turn the hov lanes into fee based during high trafficso during lowest traffic it's a 3 lane highway with lanes open to allduring non peak it's 2 lane highway with a completely unused hov lane because nobody has 2+ in their carduring peak it's a congested 2 lane highway with a very empty hov lane because even if you have 2+ in you
Getting OT, but there are at least a couple places i run into in CA where they have built 5 lane highways and made 2 lanes toll. So basically, they manufacture traffic jams in order to extort people to escape them.
TBF the top income tax rate in CA is only 13% and there aren't many people earning high incomes there, so you can understand why the gov would struggle to provide the most basic services, like roads. Also, they are helping the environment by forcing thousands of people to sit there with their cars running.
I run pretty left as some will know, but when sitting in a manufactured traffic jam I turn into a Jan 6ther.

The lanes as described by rickroll could carry additional vehicles without significantly slowing down the vehicles currently using them. But I also stated that specifically to make sure I was clear. Unfortunately it's impossible for anything to be clear to someone who just wants to be right and doesn't pay attention to anything stated by others.
I did know that about adding more lanes, but it has nothing to do with the current discussion; we're discussing how to best utilize lanes which are already there..
live the poker 'Van Life'...
I have no idea on hot tubs but, my favorite functional place on the strip is park mgm and especially Nomad, within. Mgm rates these as low end properties and I don't know why. Nomad has huge bath tubs. Bavette’s is a big favorite among 2+2 gourmands and deservedly so. Other affordable food options by strip standards.
Otherwise, maybe just a quality inn or something off strip.

+1
if i could convince the missus that's where I'd move, close enough to LV for me to make a couple trips a week without the Vegas cons and higher prices, too old to worry about missing out on clubs and a million restaurant choices
poker sucks in Laughlin but at least there's some local tourney action throughout the week and more online options than are available to me now
