2025 Formula 1 Season
2025 Formula 1 discussion thread...
Heads have rolled at Alpine...
this some CLEAN arse racing, pure talent.
looks like two sharks chasing it's prey.
I hope Max will never ever have the fastest car again
I am seeing BS reports that Mercedes wants to replace George Russell... to that I say, BULLSHYTE!
Mercedes have reportedly held 'initial talks' with a shock driver as the uncertainty surrounding George Russell's future refuses to go away.
It has been a fine start to the 2025 Formula 1 season for Mercedes as they sit second behind runaway leaders McLaren in the constructors' standings.
Meanwhile, Russell is fourth in the driver's championship behind the likes of Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri after finishing on the podium in four of the six races so far this campaign.
I was more thinking Russell would get along with Horner - presents well for Marko if they were to lose Max.
But tbh with Red bull feel like we are about to see a 1998 for them with what happened to Williams when Renault withdrew its engine program and they started running what were in effect privately maintained Renault engines badged with other names (Mecachrome and then Supertec).
Toto will not part ways with George.
Only one driver can change Toto’s mind. And Stroll will likely make Max an insane offer that most can’t match.
George is fast, seems like a company yes man, good with media. Mercedes will re-sign him.
Nobody wants to see Max in the fastest car again because if that happens you get a repeat of 2023. Don't see anybody on the grid currently capable of beating Max without a car advantage. Oscar or Kimi might be able a couple of years from now but by that time Max is most likely no longer in F1 anyway. Lando and George clearly can't, Lewis no longer can although that is not really relevant because Ferrari can't which also means Charles can't.
I don't see Max going to AM simply for the money, and I don't see AM competing for wins even with Max in a seat.
George is an ideal driver from a talent, ego, and teamwork standpoint; but if Max wants to go to Mercedes, then Max is Phil and George is the student.
I'm curious how soon we'll be hearing who the drivers for Cadillac F1 will be next year. I hope they don't do something silly like sign someone like Vettel, who is way passed his prime. I'd like to see Mick get another shot at F1, his time at Haas wasn't a good way for him to show his talent since the car sucked.
For a couple years now there keeps being whispers of Colton Herta making the move to F1, and I just don't get that. At no point in the past few years has he been the best Indy driver. I mean, right now, the obvious Indy driver to move to F1 would be Alex Palou, who is winning everything Indy, and even he would likely struggle to make the switch to F1.
Sergio/Mick is my longshot prediction of Cadillac drivers next year.
Reports are surfacing that Horner has been given his marching papers very soon...

there can be two outcomes...
1- they can hire two 'headline' drivers that are aligned with markets where 'Cadillac' is a known sales force or 'headline' drivers that bring a sense of excitement to the team as it runs thru SEVERAL YEARS of building and development.
or
2- they can hire drivers that are capable of 'car development' in a effort to shorten the learning curve to mid pack performance and points... thusly creating a sustainable sport entity that works as marketing and development. The real issue is that there are VERY FEW drivers that have this capabilities anymore... specially old timers like Lewis H or Fernando A who have never really developed a car successfully despite all their past successes.
I'm curious how the Cadillac team will perform next year. Obviously with the car changes coming, it's going to be new equipment for all teams, but I would imagine that Cadillac will very much be a backmarker team initially.
poorly... VERY poorly.
if it is anything besides a complete embarrassment I am calling BULLSHYTE on that and concluding that the 'show' is more important than the 'sport' and the fix is in... like Lulu's sprint win in China.

Aren't all British drivers good with media? How much value does that bring if he isn't going to outright win you a driver's championship?
Mick Schumacher? That would be a disaster. It could be Checo just based on the North American link but I do think Palou deserves a chance. Herta has gone cold for me based on his form the last couple of years but he does have financial backing and that financial backing is already sponsoring US F1 events.
That was a scary crash by Yuki
Wow lol what a play by Aston Martin to do Q2 on mediums
Ferarri both knocked out in Q2 - oof. I hope Lewis finds the happiness he's missing out on on the track at home on a mattress filled with Ferarri cash.
