The opinion piece (forgot it was an opinion piece not an actual article) has been completely forgotten and abandoned by the Free Palestine movement. We can differ on why that is.

its bc the atrocities never end from the genocidal army of child murderers and prison rapists

I do actually wonder how often the NYT puts this much effort into fact checking verifying a mere opinion piece or even an article. certainly they didnt put a fraction a much into the mass rape hoax article nor the reems of op-eds manufacturing consent for all of the genocidal wars of the US Empire and its proxies.

It’s unclear how much effort they put in since they refused to elaborate. As far as I know, none of the supposed experts ever came forth to back up the opinion piece or the veracity of the evidence and claims. Maybe that happened though and everyone decided that a systemic policy of sniping children in the head just isn’t worth tweeting about.

Dont worry, the sniping of children will restart again very soon.

Maybe all these foreign dictators are just big college sports fans.

A lot has changed over the last 1,500 years but anti semitism and Jews being persecuted has stood the test of time. I'm not holding my breath.

Meh. Islam is by definition an Apartheid religion, so there would be some discrimination baked in. But if Israel is never formed I dont think Jews are treated any worse than other second class minorities such as Kurds, Yazidi and Copts.

As with these other groups, when and where religious Islamists come into power there would be local massacres and pogroms. But they would stay local and wouldn't spill out into the entire Ummah. Jews lived throughout the MENA for 1500 years as second class citizens, and did more or less just fine as long as they stayed in their lane and accepted their place as second class Kuffar. And I would expect that is how things would have remained if Israel had never been formed.

The new threat is a combination of the Palestinians and some key leaders in the West weakening their support for Israel. This isn't happening tomorrow, talking decades at least probably. Sinwar basically forcing Israel's hand with Oct 7th is a big turd in the punch bowl for long term peace in the region. Sure, no one jumped in to help them in any meaningful way but regional lea

Sure, some key leaders in the west may look down on Israel's actions, but there is a large gap between that and looking so far down that Israel gets wiped out.

Atrocities in war are also easily forgotten, because it's so fluid and just so many going on that the decisions made decades from now, aren't really going to be heavily influenced based on what has happened yesterday in Gaza. And public sentiment being within the confines of social media means that peoples opinions won't stay in one place for very long. I think this heavily favors Israel.

But nobody knows for sure and we can only guess what could happen. But in the end, it's going to heavily come down to military might and the west is probably over 100x Irans in that category, and Im not exaggerating.

Many of Israel’s harshest critics are facing their own domestic issues and have all the reasons to not engage it in an open conflict.

Hitler died for the sins of the West and we have been able to transfer all of the guilt onto the Palestinians. truly a remarkable feat of Empire propaganda.

Lay off the 'shrooms yeah? You really have gone full loon lately.

Some Hamas commanders were assassinated over the last couple days. So Victor is understandably a little down in the dumps.

Ah I didn't realise, poor guy. I'll send him a black armband so he can mourn properly.

no, hundreds of children were burned alive in the name of Israel and it is indeed infuriating that people like you think its fine bc of fake Arab antisemitism to atone for the very real European antisemitism that culminated in the holocaust. White empire is trying to wash their sins off by murdering Palestinian children for fun and profit. yes, it is abominable.

Hitler died for the sins of the West

Vic, honey, let's maybe ease up a bit on the Hitler/Christ analogies.

its a really good analogy for how Westerners act about antisemitism. its the perfect way for them to offload the holocaust that they were all responsible for onto one man. that way they can learn nothing and continue to repeat the same atrocities on whatever group they decide is lesser. in the 50s it was the Koreans. in the 60s the Vietnamese. in the 2000s the Iraqis. right now its the Palestinians. soon it will be the Iranians. cant wait for you guys to go after the Chinese and get what you deserve.

I wish I was the one who thought of it but I am not that smart.

Sure, that's obvious. I would have actually been a little mad if I thought you came up with it instead yourself of parroting it from Twitter.

That's a Hamas commander, dude. Knock it off with the antisemitism.

Joint statement from the leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Canada on the situation in Gaza and the West Bank

From:
Prime Minister's Office, 10 Downing Street and The Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer KCB KC MP
Published
19 May 2025

We strongly oppose the expansion of Israel’s military operations in Gaza. The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable. Yesterday’s announcement that Israel will allow a basic quantity of food into Gaza is wholly inadequate. We call on the Israeli Government to stop its military operations in Gaza and immediately allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. This must include engaging with the UN to ensure a return to delivery of aid in line with humanitarian principles. We call on Hamas to release immediately the remaining hostages they have so cruelly held since 7 October 2023.

The Israeli Government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching International Humanitarian Law. We condemn the abhorrent language used recently by members of the Israeli Government, threatening that, in their despair at the destruction of Gaza, civilians will start to relocate. Permanent forced displacement is a breach of international humanitarian law.

Israel suffered a heinous attack on October 7. We have always supported Israel’s right to defend Israelis against terrorism. But this escalation is wholly disproportionate.

We will not stand by while the Netanyahu Government pursues these egregious actions. If Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and lift its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response.

We oppose any attempt to expand settlements in the West Bank. Israel must halt settlements which are illegal and undermine the viability of a Palestinian state and the security of both Israelis and Palestinians.  We will not hesitate to take further action, including targeted sanctions.

We strongly support the efforts led by the United States, Qatar and Egypt to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It is a ceasefire, the release of all remaining hostages and a long-term political solution that offer the best hope of ending the agony of the hostages and their families, alleviating the suffering of civilians in Gaza, ending Hamas’ control of Gaza and achieving a pathway to a two-state solution, consistent with the goals of the 18 June conference in New York co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. These negotiations need to succeed, and we must all work towards the implementation of a two-state solution, which is the only way to bring long-lasting peace and security that both Israelis and Palestinians deserve, and ensure long-term stability in the region.

We will continue to work with the Palestinian Authority, regional partners, Israel and the United States to finalise consensus on arrangements for Gaza’s future, building on the Arab plan. We affirm the important role of the High-level Two-State Solution Conference at the UN in June in building international consensus around this aim. And we are committed to recognising a Palestinian state as a contribution to achieving a two-state solution and are prepared to work with others to this end.

not twitter. a fellow Ohioan.

Maybe it is just wishful thinking. But there is some speculation in the ether Hamas leaders are negotiating a withdrawal from Gaza, so the international community can come in and begin rebuilding.

If/when this does happen it will be interesting to see how Israel and the rest of the world navigates all the Hamas soldiers left behind.

Current facial recognition technology works through masks, so Israel certainly has a long list of common Hamas members who will be invariably left behind.
