Some politicians and a lot of people are going to struggle for a very long time (maybe the rest of their lives) to come to terms with the horror they've supported or worse, been involved in. It's a good struggle which should be encouraged and welcomed.
I give huge credit to Owen Jones , Novara Media etc etc for having kept going. That's a big part of why we're seeing such an attitude change but I depart from Owen Jones on the idea that there's going to be a big reckoning for UK politicians/supporters or that they are seriously worried about it. I feel kinda nervous about the sudden sympathy expressed, at least verbally, for Gazans. It feels like the word is out Israel is going to starve them all to death and everyone is trying to distance themselves in advance of an even more immense horror than what we've seen so far. It makes me remember the ending of Inglorious Basterds. Anyone in power or in the media who supported this genocide should have a symbol burned into their forehead so they can never live it down.

The former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert has said that what Israel “is doing now in Gaza, is very close to a war crime” during an interview with the BBC.
Olmert, who was prime minister from 2006 to 2009, told the BBC that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government were waging “a war without a purpose – a war without a chance of achieving anything that can save the lives of the hostages.”
He said that the “obvious appearance” of the campaign was that Israel was killing many Palestinians, and that “from every point of view, this is obnoxious and outrageous.”

I am guessing what is actually happening is that Hamas is severely on the ropes. A lot of their operations are financed by smuggling in US dollars, on top of all the weapons and other supplies. And they are probably short. And this is on top of a need to take a break and reorganize after a lot of their commanders were killed in the last week.
So Qatar (who has bought and paid for Britain, France and Canada) is demanding these nations do a full court press to get Israel to allow the UN to smuggle much needed money and supplies to Hamas.
Witkoff says that at the moment Hamas is refusing to negotiate. I am guessing they were told to do so, while Qatar works things internationally to see if Israel can be pressured to do a unilateral ceasefire without Hamas giving up anything.
FWIW, Israel is letting aid supplies in. But it is controlling everything, so the UN hasn't been able to smuggle stuff to Hamas, which is actually what Britain, Canada and France are after.

Why do you think it's taking Israel so long to kill the "millions" of "desperate trapped civilians"?
They probably think they can force some people as refugees into countries who are unwilling to take them, leaving them with fewer to murder in cold blood.
