New Draft Idea: Fake Bands/Musicians From Movies/TV
Haven't had a good draft in awhile...so let's have one where we draft your favorite bands and/or musicians from the worl
Phat Mac on the clock!
My passion for this gang has alarmed countless people, and has even been dismissed on these forums.
Spoiler
DR. TEETH AND THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM
Somewhere out in the ether, Dr. Teeth is covering Funkadelic. I can't find it, so we'll go with this:
I'm up next.
Dammit!
This group needs no introduction:

Trigger Warning: May or may not contain Negroes!

SOGGY BOTTOM BOYS

ROUND 2 PICK:
Sam, from Casablanca
Sam is Rick's best friend and confidant. He's followed Rick from Paris to Casablanca and will probably catch up with Rick once he settles in Brazzaville with Captain Renault. He tries not to play "As Time Goes By" for Elsa because broken-hearted Rick never wants to hear that song again, but who can resist Ingrid Bergman, amirite?
Sam, played by Dooley Wilson. An all-time classic.

My picks:
The Wonders from That Thing You Do
Sam from Casablanca
Mschu18 is on the clock
I've also expanded this draft to ten rounds....there are just too many fake bands to choose from!
Round 2
Jan Pehechan ho
-Mohammed Rafi in Gumnaam (1965)/Ghost World (2001)
HD quality complete uncut original here: Jan Pehechan ho - 1965
I am all about period pieces that hark that feeling of nostalgia and happiness... Mohammed Rafi's hip 1960's musical fusion is pure fire to me.
R1- The Rubber Band
R2- Jan Pehechan ho
Round Two
Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopaters - Some Like it Hot
Sweet Sue is the all-girl band from the comedy classic movie Some Like it Hot. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are musicians on the run from the mob. They disguise themselves as women and join an all-girl band. Hilarity ensues!
so far:
Otis Day and the Knights
Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopaters

When Dom proposed this draft, I couldn't think of much offhand, so didn't join.
Then, of course, I caught one of those stupid "top ten" type shows which was fake bands. Sigh.
Anyway, interesting choices so far, guys. Fun to follow along, enjoying the write-ups as well.
I've got a couple in mind. One obvious, one I don't think will get selected. I'll try to remember to throw them out there afterward.

you should squeeze in. it's just the second round and you shouldn't have trouble catching. Dom is fairly lenient, at least up to the point where I explain that Morris Day and the Time is a fiction bands...

He can squeeze in after my next pick. No way John picks it but he might, and I need it.
I'm fine with Golddog squeezing in if he wants
Nah, you guys are already going, and I won't make it very far before having to rely on google. Thank you for the offer, though.
John, it's on you again
Dom may need to rule on both of these picks.
The first is Victor's Song from Local Hero. Victor is a Russian fisherman who stops by the town in Scotland at least, I think, once a year. He's accompanied by the local band.
I can only say that if you don't love this movie, you're just a bit dead inside.
