President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
So we're going back to Biden? Sounded like you were talking in the present tense. The only way it gets released in the present day is if those were some of the documents Elon stole during his tenure.
I would think if Trump is in there with such specificity, those were part of the papers Trump likes to flush down the toilet.
Ya of course they aren't getting released at present if there's bad stuff about Trump as Elon alleges.
Biden/Garland DO release them in 2024 or earlier if there is.

Yes, that makes sense if you think Garland worked for Biden (which you obviously do). But yes, I'm guessing a leak from somewhere inside could have occurred and you would call it Biden who orchestrated it.
On the other hand, y'all thought the indictments were strictly campaign fodder and not legit so Trump being shown in the Epstein files, more than we already know about, would have fallen on deaf ears and worked against Biden just like the felony indictments did.
In that regard, it may have been best to not release them, or perhaps they were not released in order to protect others more important than Trump.
From Wikipedia:
The phrase "life unworthy of life" (German: Lebensunwertes Leben) was a Nazi designation for the segments of the populace which, according to the Nazi regime, had no right to live. Those individuals were targeted to be murdered by the state via involuntary euthanasia, usually through the compulsion or deception of their caretakers. The term included people with disabilities and later those considered grossly inferior according to the racial policy of Nazi Germany.
Saying that Werner von Braun contributed significantly to space travel is simply a fact. His history with the Nazis is also a fact. There is nothing to weight or prioritize. Facts are facts.
Right. But if someone quotes him on anything or uses him as an example for something then someone else can counterpoint with his less savoury aspects. Maybe it might be better to quote a scientist who wasn't a Nazi who benefitted from slave labour? It's a fact that the Nazis cared about environmental protection and animal rights. Do I therefore use them as an example to promote such things? I mean facts are facts after all, right?
If you want to comb through the history of every person who has had an outsized cultural impact to find ways to disregard their impact without addressing the actual impact they had themselves, be my guest. I prefer to just consider people within their historical context instead.Ironically I think the logical conclusion of this mindset is something akin to Victor’s thinkin
Historical context? Both Ghandi and Foucault were in the 20th century, not the dark ages.
Let me put it more simply- anyone can quote Ghandi or sociologists or Nazi slave labour using scientists to make whatever point they're trying to make. And anyone else can counterpoint with "who gaf what that racist paedo nazi said, maybe pick a better source"
Your last paragraph is argumentum ad hominem dribble so doesn't need to be entertained.
People worry a lot about AI deep fakes but one of the big upsides is that on ideas, science, philosophy etc we can focus on what is being said rather than the garbage about who said it.
MAGA Hats Made-In-China?
This is getting awkward
I mean, they had pictures of the 'made in china' label pre-election, didn't they?
steamraise posting from last century.
Hopefully they are Tariff exempt
Trump's 'poor guy' act about Elon reeks of someone somewhere telling him "do NOT escalate this, cos if he tells everything he knows, we are ****ed!"

could be that.
i think i'm more inclined to believe the feud was orchestrated.
nothing substantive was said by either party.
calling each other names with stuff that was already known.
i'm not sure i'd credit them with the skill to successfully pull off that ruse though. at least it's my favorite theory.
Very much a MAD situation, where de-escalation is 100% the best for both.
But do two egomaniacal, narcissistic, toddlers come to this conclusion?!
i've heard this orchestrated theory, seems like twaddle. There are no positives for either party, so why?
It makes sense on a poor reality tv show/soap opera.
Which sadly gives it somewhat plausibility...
good question. if the tank is more than very short term, likely not a good idea.
optimistic theory is it creates a way out of the big beautiful bill.
pessimistic theory is just classic manipulation to create leveraged buying/selling opportunities.
most realistic theory is it is in fact just two egotistical dudes having a piss fight.

In the 20th century, countries owned other countries because those countries were considered racially inferior. Why are we acting like the 20th century was some bastion of positivity and goodness?
And it’s not an as hominem, do you even know what an ad hominem is? You are the one literally performing it.
What in the world makes you think that Trump is looking for a way out of his own bill?
pessimistic theory is just classic manipulation to create leveraged buying/selling opportunities.
Pessimistic theory sounds like blatant securities fraud.
most realistic theory is it is in fact just two egotistical dudes having a piss fight.
Odd that you don't favor what you describe as the most realistic theory.

Because it's a horrendous bill. Maybe he has come to realize that.
Yes.
That's not as fun.
