Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn
Finally, day 12 for the racist Asian accent. I waited so long
Daniel is off to a strong start so far in the WSOP. I believe he is up $240,000 profit so far.

Don't worry, he will probably fire 2 bullets in the $250K and everyone will say he is terrible, because he is down for the Series. Unless he wins it, then he just won a multitable sit and go.
He took 11th place in the $10K stud. He is in 7th after the 1st day of the $10K no limit 2-7 single draw. Of course, he fired 3 bullets in that.
He winds up deep in all these tournaments, but he is a hustler who can't beat the games anymore.
He was at his irritating worst in today's vlog. Unbearable.
Hes at his worst when hes playing low buyin events. Its perfectly fine that he himself is gambling it up because its pennies for him - thats his right and its something poker players have to deal with - the rich dude who DGAF. At the same time a lot of these guys on his table looked like rec players who are likely in one of the bigger tournaments they have played in a long time. - so for DN to go all in pre every hand and then laugh when his shitty 8873r busts them out of their WSOP story is just absolute peak obnoxious and tone deaf.
Any rec who may have been playing one of their highest tournaments ever was probably quite thrilled for him to show up.
Agree 100%. A lot of these guys would have planned this trip all year, carefully choosing what tournaments they can afford to play and he's mocking them for not just sticking it in for three-way PLO pot. It's really tone deaf. I know people will say he's offering them a +EV proposition, but rec players want to feel like they've gotten some play for their hard earned buy-in, not just stick it in with 60% equity.
Aside from that aspect, the whole vlog was just him shouting in everyone's face. You can tell that a lot of people really aren't into it at all, but have to grin and bear it because it's The Great Daniel Negreanu.. Biggest name in poker
Playing like that is perfectly OK (and additionally a +EV proposition for those of the recs who see it for what it is and appreciate it) Belittling them for not gambling and laughing at them as if theyre playing for match sticks is not.

Thats why you have to be 21 and up to play as these tournaments are not for children
At the majority of these tables you are going to have people late regging and gambling. That’s the nature of the tournament and if unacceptable then I’d say they didn’t carefully choose
Plenty of options across the city with same price point but with far less of the gambling period. But if you want the biggest prize pool and possible bracelet it’s just one of those things
I guess he is gambling because he is firing multiple bullets. I don't know if that is a good approach as tough as tournaments are these days.
I don't agree about his being a losing player, etc., but I agree his vlogs are obnoxious.
Agree that some amateur will have a story after being busted by Negreanu going allin with a junk hand early in a PLO tournament.
In 6th place in NL 2-7 close to the bubble. Foxen 1st, Rast 3rd, Shulman 4th, Hellmuth 12th.

He also kept rushing them to to make a decision. I got the sense that he was anxious to bust or build a stack and wanted to join the $10K low ball tournament before late reg closed, which is what he ultimately would up doing. I kind of felt bad for the other players as he was trying to rush their decision on what was likely a big $$ tournament for them.
I'm still working through todays vlog, but around the 18:08 mark he's trying to influence action in a tournament, guess the rules only apply to no-names and some folks can get away with whatever they want

I mean helmuth got away with saying he was gonna be the ****ing place to the ground and being belligerent towards players for decades.
Lmao just watched that for first time, he was at three separate tables. Probably a short time at all of them. That stuff is going on at a large % of them in last level of registration, just nature of the tournament.
Now in 1st place with 28 remaining is NL 2-7 SD.

Doesn't matter with what GG pays him and if he is indeed putting up his own money it covers all his buy-ins for the year. I don't know what his deal is but it has to be quite lucrative. He is a brand now like a Kardashian or a Jenner. All those girls became billionaires. I wonder what would have happened if their father didn't defend OJ and no one ever heard of the Kardashians. A little bit off topic but become a brand is the goal to earning big money in this country.
Maybe im a purist but I think all tournaments should be freezeouts unless specifically designed otherwise ( like having a couple of rebuy tournaments during the series). It taints the entire idea behind a so called player of the year if the wealthiest can just fire multiple bullets. We can argue that all that matters is who profits the most but id say this contributes to that to a degree. Not to mention, freezeouts have become the unique tournament now.
I know, this has been discussed adneauseam.

But it's so sick, bro. He's much richer than them, so
3rd of 15 in NL 2-7 SD. 3 big stacks all close. Another very prestigious tournament. Always stacked with top pros.

I've been saying this for years and I think Lee Jones had an article about it as well. This multi-day, multi-flight, multi-bag, unlimited re-entry garbage that has taken over tournament poker are just extra edges for the pros with the deepest pockets.
That, coupled with top-heavy payouts means you're funneling ALL the money into the pockets of the best players, which is completely backwards for the poker economy. You have to let the recs have a fighting chance, but they don't.
They have 1, maybe 2 bullets for an event, and Joe Q Public works his 9-5 all week. He can't come fire Flights A-H multiple times trying to bag multiple times to have a big stack going into Day 2. Sure, maybe Joe Q Public gets lucky and busts Phil Ivey one time, but if Phil has unlimited lives, the rec has zero chance.
It's become so much harder for a recreational player to realize their dream of winning a tournament because of all of this.
I get why the rooms do it though, the marketing of "$400 entry with a 6-figure payout to 1st", but it's just a lottery ticket, a pipe dream, but it works on the masses. And the pros love it because it gives them additional advantages.
Ok, sorry to derail the thread, but had to show some love for your post.
