This was a deliberate escalation by Trump, and as Kelhus explained, the real targets of the escalation were Trump's political enemies.
When you deliberately and unnecessarily escalate a situation, you increase the likelihood of violent confrontations between local police and protesters (or journalists), no matter how sympathetic or unsympathetic the local police are to the cause of the protesters.

Rittenhouse certainly shouldn't have been celebrated and is certainly no hero, but he clearly acted in self defence, as the video evidence showed. (as in within the context of the crazy open carry US gun laws)
