If the war ended now the IRGC would have a 100% civilian casualty rate (meaning 100% of the people they have killed were civilians). Has that ever happened before? It seems hard to believe. But according to Trolly the IRGC has the right to defend itself, so it is all kosher (except not really, because a number of the casualties were Israeli Arab Palestinian civilians)

This rhetoric helps Israel justify preemptive strikes, but in reality the goal of Iran is to destroy the state of Israel and make the Sunni powers look like sell outs, which they are hoping to do Algeria-style, where they force people accustomed to a 1st world lifestyle into a situation where they decide it isn't worth it anymore and they emigrate to less hostile regions, ones more aligned with their values (tens of thousands have already done so since Oct 7).

When you're given billions of deficit-funded dollars every year, that creates a nice little subsidy to prevent the negative effects of war from reaching the average citizen, and we're just starting to see what happens when Israel gets into an attrition-based dynamic. The answer, so far, is that they take extreme actions to make sure the situation is a matter of deterrence and not attrition. How Iran guides the situation back to a low-intensity dynamic, and how much they are in need of regrouping will be very interesting questions over the next few weeks.
