Played $1/$3 yesterday. A really long session about 10 hours. I didn't end up getting back to the room until about 4am. Just woke up...it's 12:43PM. Love summer! Supposed to be like 90 degrees today, but hopefully the a/c in this place works well because it was a little warm last night.

I ended up just over $1,000 yesterday. Bought in for $300 grinded it up to $1,250 at the peak, lost a few pots then took a break to grab some dinner. Came back won a little bit more. People in Chicago play different than they do in Milwaukee and both play different than they do in Green Bay. It's kind of funny that each room has a unique playing style. Must be a personality/cultural thing. Chicago people are much stickier and hate getting pushed around ...and Milwaukee people for some reason play more aggressively preflop. I didn't touch any games outside of poker, so that's a huge win for me. Last time I was here I got stuck quickly, chased, and lost big, so I wanted to avoid that. Set me off for a bad month mentally. I may hop into a bigger game today depending how I'm feeling. Played pretty well overall even had a few spots that I was able to get a bit creative with which isn’t always necessary at that limit . I appreciate higher stakes more for that exact reason...allows you to be creative and mix up your game a bit from what you would normally do at $1/$3. I always want to win thousands every time I make a trip outside my local room but I should be very happy stringing together a few nice sessions at $1/$3 and proving to myself I can stick to poker.

Few pics of the room I got. Nice little crash pad downstairs in a duplex in a neighborhood I don’t feel like I’ll be shot in.

Appreciate that man! Hope you are accomplishing your goals with drinking & grinding as well.

Decided to drive back to GB to play at Oneida instead of in Chicago tonight. Bed was a bit uncomfortable didn’t sleep the best. Also have to do some errands tomorrow. $2/$5 been running Saturday nights there so figured I’d try and take a shot in that game against some familiar players in a room I’m comfortable with. Ran up a stack in $1/$3 to $900 hopped in $2/$5 been crushing the table. Up to about 2.5k turned 10s into a bluff on an 889 two spades board got check raised pushed it got a nit off queens. Little lucky but we are cooking

awesome man - you crushing cash.

<3 Appreciate that! Yes good weekend altogether up about $4,000 Friday & Saturday from poker playing $1/$3 & $2/$5. I ran decently well but did have a few tough spots and lost a few coin flips as well. Played some really long sessions I think I put in about 25 hours since coming back from Parents Friday morning. Tomorrow my local room is closed so may head up to Island Casino which is open Sundays, but not sure may take today off too and watch Game 7 NBA Finals. I think Pacers win but not betting it.

Grabbed $5k and a bag gonna head down to Milwaukee today. Its 212pm cdt figured Milwaukee having a better sports book might be more exciting for NBA game 7 than Island Casino north of me. Milwaukee is like 2.5 hours from me Island is 1 hour but Milwaukee room is also open Monday and Tuesday so I can play there if I am motivated enough and willing to sleep in a random bed again. I think I should keep pushing poker if IÂ’m playing well and have some extra time to kill. What id be doing instead is laying in bed watching YouTube or Netflix so i think this is the move today

Decided to put $3k on Pacers ML as the underdog at +205, so $3,000 to win $9,150 total, or $6,150 profit. Everyone is saying OKC is gonna win this game so tbh I expect to get smoked here, but **** it I should have been called by that guy with QQ last night anyways. If I miss I'll still have been up $1k in last 24 hours.

I was on Pacers as well(ATS though), felt closer to a toss up to me than the popular narrative of OKC blowout. Unfortunately Haliburton blew his achilles, ugh. I was able to double up ATS on OKC right away but probably tough to do that in a live book. Sucks to have the Finals decided like that.

For sure. After he went down 1 qtr that was it. Happens but sucks had to be decided by injury.

My uncle's funeral got pushed back to August, which leaves me a few weeks to kill. So I booked a trip to Bangkok, Thailand for a few weeks. Had gotten a passport last summer that I hadn't used yet, and have always wanted to visit Thailand, so why not now?! Was able to get a roundtrip ticket for under $1,000. Supposed to be the rainy time of the year there, so hopefully weather isn't terrible the whole time. So won't be playing poker for a month or so. Leaving tomorrow morning from Chicago...heading down right now. Would also like to visit Pattaya while there. I'll take a few pics and update when I come back. Packed a backpack with 3 teeshirts and some underwear, some toilettrees, and $8k so I don't have to claim it. Wishing I hadn't put $3k on Pacers Game 7 and this trip would be free but oh well.

How are you liking it? I really liked Pattaya between the beach and smaller town feel but still very convenient and accessible for foreigners.

Thailand has been awesome! They had some flooding on the streets since it was so rainy, but that went away. Was in Bangkok for about 10 days got into Pattaya last Monday. Been getting plenty of walking in but have been partying with the crazy Asian girls a bit too much. This is the slow time of the season for tourism so girls have been bored and interested. Hung out with this Bangkok girl for a few days just as friends she took me to try the best street food I’ve ever had. She wanted to come to Pattaya with me but I had to say no….not trying to get hooked. Heading to a ping pong show tonight at a bar a few blocks away. Haven’t bought a ticket home yet so may stay in Thailand until my uncles funeral in TH in August.

Flying back to the states shortly. Very glad I came to Thailand has always been on my bucket list. Wished I had come last summer instead of Vegas. This is the first time outside the military I had used my passport. Will be in Tennessee for a week or so with family then have to take care of some stuff for new job. Fantasy football draft season is also in full swing so will be drafting some best ball teams. Not sure when I’ll be playing cards again my last session was that $2/$5 one at Oneida with that pic above. Don’t really have an itch to play much or do too much more outside fantasy football at the moment until I start getting paid for new position in September. Thailand is cheap but I spent nearly everything I brought with me…oops. The flight is super long like 30 hours literally have to get back to the opposite side of the world. Lost like 10 lbs here from the walking and actual food I’ve been eating. Also lots of extracurricular exercises as well. Now that I got that out of my system hoping I can fall into a healthy routine.

Back in Wisconsin last week. TN was pretty & nice. Funeral was peaceful. Uncle had a giant lake house with a few boats right on the water. Went swimming, caught up with cousins and family. Went through the Bourbon Trail on way back with Dad & brother. Got a bottle of Blanton's and some other allocated stuff. Not a big drinker but I don't mind a glass of bourbon here or there. Went to a few work trainings for new job this week. Lots of new stuff to learn. Kind of anxious about starting a new school year with new staff. Was coasting towards the end on autopilot at previous job had things dialed in & was well respected. Feel like I have to earn it all again. It will be worth it in long run is my feeling. New job has a lot of new processes so it will take some learning. I'm a fast learner so I'll figure it out soon enough. Trying to get my **** together & cleaned up. Going to get back into poker soonish. Been drafting a few fantasy football teams & grinding the preseason news. Been watching some live high stakes on Youtube. Been getting a bit of an itch to play some tournaments too. Would like to dabble in more of those this year. Bankroll is drying up so am waiting patiently for paychecks to start coming in. Not much of an update been it's been a bit.

Played $1/$3 for a few hours. Lost around $200. Had grinded $400 to $650ish then made a loose call with bottom pair vs Asian on left from SB who had been bluffy. Turned $300 to $1350ish on the floor on a hot craps table and a slot bonus. Driving home may play more tomorrow.

Been playing a decent amount of chess lately. Usually play a game or two before heading to bed to help wind down. Have played for about 2 years on and off. Just beat a 2200 bot for the first time! Started my new job more officiailly this week with the 7:30AM - 4:00PM M-F grind. It's a lot not gonna lie, but am closer to a much needed paycheck so I'm thankful for that.

Been chilling waiting for the right moment to start grinding poker again. Saving some, buying some stocks, taking it easy with new job. Watching lots of football sweating my fantasy football teams. Got my first paycheck …every two weeks….below. This is Wisconsin so cost of living is low. Full benefits with retirement. It’s why I decided to get a real job when I was working 120 hours per week at group homes playing poker on the side. Studied for GRE and subject GRE by myself on night shifts. Hadn’t taken a math class in 5 years but taught myself advanced calculus and nearly aced that bitch. Lived in some crazy ass persons basement with a centipede infestation while doing that for 3 years. Got my ass in a grad program and did that for another 3 years before getting to where I am now. Brother & sister followed in my parents footsteps of living a nice Christian life I became an atheist in 7th grade finding out it was all bullshit. The only person who has ever believed in my poker game has been me. Everyone else who knows or knew I play cards just told me it’s a game you can’t win or it’s sinful or it’s not worth playing. I’m 37 and I don’t have any big trophies or tournament wins to speak of but I am a NLHE cash game crusher and once I return to the tables I am going to run up a roll. These next 12 months are a make or beak year for me. Let’s get it.

Yikes, that's a serious paycheck, and well earned. My mom was Christian, grew up going to Sunday school. I was probably pretty sceptical, but the day that I found out that dogs don't go to heaven, I was out. Think I was 11 or 12.

Bro you’ll do fine in life but you gotta seperate what you can be a long term winner in vs losing games like the pits and sports betting. You can have a long term lucrative career with poker either on the side or as the main act but you have to cut out the losing games or it will never let you succeed. You can’t tame that beast when you’re still dabbling.

No one who plays poker long term successfully also gambles on losing games. Poker success is a long and disciplined track to building a bankroll, it isn’t flashy and you can’t cut corners. At some point you’ll get to HS, bink a tourney, and run it up but it won’t come faster than that. Cut out the dumb **** and you’ll be a success story

You're correct. I've struggled through periods of my life with resisting impulses. Be it with gambling or other areas. It's caused issues. But I"ve been meditating. Going on long walks. Eating right & getting my head on straight. Trying to tame the beast. I feel in control again. Ive already shown myself I can outwork people in grad school and in life. If I put that same version of myself into poker….without the distractions…i can really turn this blog into a success story. But it’s all on whether I can tame the beast.

Let's get it.

Good attitude bro gotta remind yourself every morning and stay disciplined, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Success takes years. You got this

Got off work at 4pm. Long week, lots of stress. Made the drive to Milwaukee a few hours. Sat down at an Applebees on the way to get some real food in my body. Been drinking protein shakes and eating snacks or fruit mostly throughout week. Feel energized. I hopped in a $2/$5 NLHE game in Potawatomi with $800. Table seems juicy and fun. Ordered an orange juice, in the bathroom taking a dump. Heading back to table shortly. Will try and play for 3-4 hours or so. Might get a room here if I can get a discount and play tomorrow as well if I donÂ’t punt this.

Feels good to play some cards again.

Lost about $300ish. Was getting late and tired so left. Got a cheap room nearby going to head back and play some more today after a few errands. Didn’t get much going in the game and ran 10s into jjs preflop blind vs blind
