Israel / Iran thread

Seems like this conflict is not going to end anytime soon and is worthy of its own thread.

Israel just decimated Iran on its own.

But with American jets, bombs, missiles and intel.

Israel just decimated Iran on its own. Trump got to fly some planes in and make a tweet but it was Israel that systematically took down the β€œAxis of Resistance”. If you go outside once in a while you’ll see no one in the real world is losing any sleep over Iran’s demise.

You really think israel could take out the nuclear threat? Even netanyahu was relying on the usa to step in. Maybe trump did the job although even that it isn't clear.

I dont know why you feel the need for the rest of the silly noise. Except maybe to distarct from the obvious reliance of israel on the usa to assist them in taking out Irans nuclear development

I mean he might eventually maybe be right, maybe in 2040 or 2060 or whenever the USA will drop any support starting with the use of veto powers to stop UN actions against Israel.

if that happens it will be a bigger problem for Israel that you imply here imo.

but I am not sure what the point of discussing this possibility is

Israeli defense exports are at an all time high and it’s not just the Americans buying. Sure, 50 years from now the geopolitical landscape will inevitably look different but I’d bet Israel will still be standing.

I’m curious how much of the intel came from the Americans vs the Israelis. My guess is we rely on them much more than they do on us.

Especially with the Trump admin, I wouldn’t be surprised if Israel deliberately limits the info they share with us.

they had to beg for a ceasefire bc they ran out of interceptors and Tel Aviv was getting smoked.

I don’t know about completely taking it out and I think the Iranians will eventually develop a nuke as long as they intend to. If Israel couldn’t rely on US assistance they would have to resort to other methods. They’ve been pretty creative in the past like using a virus to physically destroy the centrifuges. Other ways would be much costlier and bloody than just flying in a few bombers or injecting a computer virus.

It was probably a joint Israeli/American attack.

No being reliant doesn't mean you can alway rely on them. That's part of the problem. Not just Israel - far too many are reliant on the usa including the uk and Europe in general.

You seem suprisingly relaxed about the threat but if you really think creative solutions could always be found.

Has anyone started a GoFundMe yet for all the freeway-sitters in America to be given plane tickets to protest civil rights on Iranian freeways instead? At least those "March to Palestine" people who were stopped by the Egyptians at the border put their money where their mouths were.Protesting human rights and progressive ideals in America has long since hit the point of severely

It is over - they need to go back to supporting Palestine

The story looks a bit different to those of us not getting our news straight from the Grand Ayatollah.

The USA’s contribution to Israel only constitutes 10% of their defense budget .

It's lots more during wars, like right now.

The diplomatic cover is probably even more important.

Israel also benefits from the US military dominance of the whole region.

If US support wasn't absolutely essential, Israel wouldn't make the astounding investment in influence peddling in the US.

The US hasn’t always been a big supporter of Israel but I agree the eventual strong relationship has been mutually very beneficial.

To Chez - I’m not relaxed about it. That’s why I think it’s smart to impede Iran’s nuclear progress when they’ve left themselves vulnerable. A lot of Americans who aren’t posting their thoughts online 24/7 share this sentiment.

we all saw the pictures and videos. and that was despite the massive censorship from the only democracy in the middle east lol.

the fact is that Israel are cowardly genociders. just a small amount of damage is too much for them to handle.

Of course waning support from the US is concerning and an issue for Israel but the notion that they aren’t going to form any other relationships or move towards a more self sufficient policy is just not rooted in much beyond wishful thinking from Pompeous.

self sufficient? what do they produce? Epstein blackmail honeypots and militarized police training? they make nothing and contribute nothing to society outside of mass murder and suffering. the country is just an extension of the West and at some point it will be time to cut them off like a diabetes patient lops off his foot. the West is decaying and while it will be the last appendage to lose, it will happen. sooner than you think.

Israel has the largest generic drug manufacturer in the world (Teva).

I’ll just take your word on this one and not press for any sources. Don’t worry.

The way Israel owned Iran's sky, successful commando raids on the nuclear sites is conceivable. But what would they be walking into? A lot of exposure. Huge risk. But without the B52's I'm guessing they would have.

Israel is basically a tech economy, with about half of their exports and a third of their GDP tech or related.

Western leftists are also ambivalent at best about the Iranian regime. It was never a foreground issue and really only gets talked about briefly when they murder a girl for showing her hair.

should only the left be appalled by this ?

Middle Eastern countries are hard for people in general because the leftists want to view them as oppressed while they hold abhorrent social views and the conservatives love their social views but view them as evil brown people.

It’s fascinating to watch these two groups struggle to contextualize the β€œmaterial contradictions”—to borrow a phrase
