Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
Having said that, I suspect there might be a legal difference between:
"It wouldn't surprise me if Joel Osteen is a child-molester" and "Joel Osteen is a child-molester."
And this is why I called you a weasel. This is a forum, not a court of law. Saying "It wouldn't surprise me if you're a child molester" is just a way of calling someone a child molester with the benefit that you might be able to weasel out of it if the banhammer comes down by claiming you technically didn't call anyone that. It's chickenshit bullshit and everyone knows it - including you.
you can however police language (if that's the owners preference) forbidding references to stupidity or disability in general when addressing other posters. references to race are already forbidden if used as an insult.I agree it is a mistaken to ban re tard when discussing people with IQ under 85 that exist in society , but it's not weird to ban it's use when addressing other
I’m old enough to remember when your crybaby bitch ass demanded anyone banned for misspelling your name cuz it hurt your snowflake mental health
All this is reminding me of that time Victor called me "redacted" because leftists don't use the word ******, ldo.Oh, how we laughed. Good ****.Can't find it now, but Victor later said something like "I don't use that word" to which Rococo replied something along the lines of "That's as ridiculous as saying you don't say f@ggot, because you replace the "a" with an "@" every tim
right I didnt mean ******ed. I will refrain from saying what I actually meant bc I would get banned quickly.
lol, "person of color" and "BIPOC" are not synonymous with "black," those words are used in entirely different contexts. "Afro-American" was briefly popular in the 60's but I'm not sure it was ever the main term used, and anyway it's not super different from "African-American." You could have lived your entire life just saying "black" or "African-American" and been quite fine.
I rarely hear either of those terms used in the last 5 years or more. No one here in Portland uses them.
I know that person of color and BIPOC are wider sets of people than those included by the other two terms, but they are all you hear around here. No one wants to discuss the problems of black people while leaving out Latinos and Native Americans.
Plus, I forgot to divide the "black" adjective into the noun forms of "blacks" and "black people". It seems like saying "blacks" is now considered dehumanizing, which I do understand, but it somehow is still ok to refer to "whites".

No one in Portland uses the term "black" or "African-American?" come the **** on, bro.

You said that BIPOC was "the preferred term to describe Americans descended from those who came here from Africa." It clearly is no such thing.

who else was participating?
its sexual harrasment
