"Black History Month" is a relic from times when black was the preferred term, just like the previously mentioned United Negro College Fund and the NAACP.
So here's a local news item that uses "black" and "African-American"

I go to events all the time where young people talk about racial discrimination. They never use the terms 'black' or 'African American' (or 'Hispanic' or 'Latino', or 'American Indian' or 'Native American').
They often use the term 'BIPOC'. Not spelling it out, but by pronouncing it as if it were not an acronym. (Similar to how radar and laser have become regular words).
This is why I love the internet: instead of simply admitting he was exaggerating, Rob now has to double-down and come up with even bigger whoppers like "Actually, no one says 'black' anymore." It's such a weird blend of stubbornness and magical thinking. Apparently no one says "Latino" anymore now?

Wasn't ChillRobert the guy who once threw a several weeks long tantrum over the usage of "they/them"? Or was that Frederick Roll?
To be fair, not knowing how to use they/them properly should result in several months in an education camp.

I don't know what events Rob is attending, but it isn't at all unusual to see references to black people in mainstream media. Here is an article from the Washington Post about "young Black voters."
Hell, under Trump its socially acceptable to call them "the blacks" again

I have been talking about what people in Portland say, not what is used in local media which you cherry picked. I don't follow local media.
I do read and listen to NPR, where the modern terms are also used constantly.

I said I'm referring to the way young liberals in blue cities like Portland and Seattle speak in person; how do you think citation of national print news media relates to this?
I'm going to music shows, and occasionally cultural gatherings, where people mostly under 30 years of age discuss things like racial discrimination, the war in Gaza, abuses by ICE, mistreatment of trans people, EOs issued by the President, etc. The same things those on the left often rightfully complain about here.
There are also usually tables with posters, pamphlets, etc., about these issues. All these things include the newer terminology.
Maybe the new preferred terms haven't reached the general population as much as I had figured.
But I'm pretty sure they will be coming soon, spreading from the left wing cultural vanguard.
These people definitely have their hearts in the right place, and I agree with a large part of their agenda.
I just think they would be more successful if they laid off with the neologisms and word policing which comes across as extreme "wokeness" and discredits their legitimate goals.

Yes, I also don't care for that confusing reappropriation of the language. Again, this is something that leads to mockery of wokeness and likely hurts the chances of their actual policy goals being accomplished.
Yeah, they/them is just too confusing and burdensome. I think a rational response is to cede all levels of decision making to republicans

+1 to everything said here.
Reasonable voices like this are being drowned out by the Trollys of this world and it's sad.
I just had a Karen track me down and tell me that my dog needs to be a leash and that she saw her chasing a deer who may or may not have had two fawns with her.
I asked her if I could upload her to Karen websites and if she could start over for me.
She told me there were leash laws in San Diego county and that she'd call the sheriff or animal control if she saw me again.
I then did get my dog on a leash and tracked her back down and I told her I went to where I was to get away from people like her (not really true mostly it's because I want to smoke a blunt and because my dog does need to burn some energy as she's a husky)-- although certainly getting away from people like her is a benefit.
She tried arguing and I told her it was my turn to talk and that she is insane if she thinks my 48 lbs dog could take down a deer or even a fawn.
Then I explained to her that deer get killed all the time out here, and some other animal probably a mountain lion then comes and eats them (which I've seen the evidence of on road kill deer), and in general tried to explain how the cycle of life works.
She said it didn't matter if my dog wasn't capable of killing a deer, but merely that she was harassing wildlife, to which I retorted that my dog is a part of the wildlife.
She said it's San Diego county and California and that they protect their wildlife here and that animal control will take my dog. I told her if she sees me again to just leave me alone and to call the police.
My dog was gone for like 30 seconds. I didn't know what she went after but it definitely wasn't a long chase. She's gotten me into like a half dozen encounters like this though in the 11 months I've had her.
^ I would recommend looking for off-leash dog parks. There should be some in the area. And you don't need to hide your marijuana use anymore, didn't you hear that it's legal in California?
Here in Portland someone once complained that I was letting my 6 pound terrier mix off leash in the library courtyard where I was alternating between playing with her and using their wifi on my laptop.
The employee who asked me to put her on a leash was clearly embarrassed that he had to speak with me about it though.
People who let their dogs off leash in non-designated areas are the worst. The absolute worst.
You know I don't support that.
And it's definitely not rational, but it's definitely driving many people to vote Republican.
I can’t do much with irrationality. If people want to chop off their hand because a fly landed on it then my focus is on why these people are chopping off their hand while you blame the fly

I go to the Cleveland National Forrest specifically to a place called Mt Laguna which is at around 5500 ft elevation (on average) and includes part of the Pacific Crest Trail all the time and I've had relatively few issues there (although they still happen and there she is racking up a squirrel body count unfortunately
And lately now that it's warming up and because of the squirrels I've been driving to Ocean Beach and going to a place called dog beach which is an off-leash dog beach and pretty much dog mecca. San Diego has 4 off leash dog beaches actually and I finally crossed off the last one Fiesta Island on Sunday.
So I do plenty of that. But I also sometimes need to be working but still have my dog expel some energy and this place I was at today is a short walk from home but also in the woods and isolated and just a nice place to chill that's very close. So having some Karen come yell at me because my dog went on a 30 second deer chase wasn't anything I could have anticipated this morning as I've probably done the same as I did this morning at that location perhaps 20 times now.

Huh? You admit you can't do much with irrationality yet you still want to focus on why they're chopping off their own hands? They're doing that because they're irrational!
I'm trying to help other people not get their own hands chopped off because they're so focused on the supposed virtues of the fly.

What you originally said was
the preferred term to describe Americans descended from those who came here from Africa, mostly as slaves, has changed at least 5 times.
Which is just obviously not true at all. You then babbled on about Portland for no reason other than to change the subject and then made the even more ludicrous claim that no one uses the terms "black" or "African-American" anymore. Again, it's just super easy to admit you were exaggerating.
