Yeah Ivey “somehow figured out” how to avoid people coming up to him by years of doing the minimum engaging fans. That’s his right of course.
But this “he’s fake filming” to avoid fans might be the most ridiculous hate take in this thread, which is not easy to do.

Dnegs was like a milquetoast lefty for god knows how long, he even made a tweet mocking anti-trans bigots several years ago the last time it was "cool" to be progressive. Now he seems to think trans males are an existential threat to humanity or something
He's a poker institution and I personally don't care what his views are, I'll still enjoy watching him regardless. But I think he's a great example of why you shouldn't really expect professional poker players (or athletes, entertainers, etc.) to provide nuanced and thoughtful takes on politics or social issues. Usually the best case scenario is they're at least somewhat out of touch and wishy-washy, worst case they're genuinely bigoted or insane

Don’t watch all of the videos but I wonder if you 2+2ers missed some hyperbole. 800 seems impossible and even 50-75 is a ton (but could be true) especially since era of poker celebrities ended over ten years ago. Might be 46-71 more than second place person.

It probably makes it easier to take the time to do the photo when you know it takes a special type of person to even ask or be interested in such a thing.

If you play the WSOP, you learn really quickly that those "breaks" are essentially mad dashes to go wait in line at the washroom or grab a smoke or whatever. You literally don't have time to do anything else - he's been very consistent on this over the years that his break is his time and he doesn't do pictures during that time.
It was just less pronounced at the Rio because he could duck into back private hallways where no one could find him. At the new location, he doesn't really have that option.

I am not going to defend his behavior or his vlogs. I think he can be obnoxious.
I just defended him that he was a good player and was a really top player in 2005, not sunrunning.
Part of the reason his vlogs etc. are successful is people want someone with personality they can identify with. These GTO players who copy how a computer plays are weird, and DN is a contrast to that.

PSA: Daniel is not a vegan (anymore, it he ever was one). There is a 95%+ that that prescription exploited animals. Doubt he advil is vegan as well.

I'm a vegan and I've had a lot of conversations with other vegans about where to draw the line, etc.
The vast, vast, vast majority of us do not begrudge anybody using medicine, which--yes--almost certainly exploited animals at some point. The point is to comprehensively do the things that are ultimately pretty practical to do. Your gotcha isn't one.
The more questionable bit is how much enthusiasm he expressed for the non-vegan meatballs (which he apparently loves cooking for others) from that pasta place near his house. That's just not a compromise he's got to make, unlike medical ones.

read some stuff here and I thought I'd chime in. I just got back from playing the main, and I played with DN day 1b. If you saw the stream i'm the guy who was sitting in seat one on the feature table, the day he complained about the heat (kind of a hissy fit). Anybody saying he doesn't care about the fans is nuts, he went out of his way to take all the selfies asked of him. There were a couple guys in wheelchairs railing him that he went out of his way to talk to a few times much to their delight. All in all he was a really good dude, even though he called me sticky weak on his vlog released the following day and criticized me a bit. Nothing major, I take no offense. And I outlasted him busting less than 50 from the money (so in my book I'm better than him!)
