What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

nice results g-bebe, take a bow and imagine rock-a-bying those shhh thanks hazy old memories to sleep tonight as if they never happened

different topic, this friday i'm playing my first 18 hole long course in over a dozen months, another one scheduled same day of next week.

have broken golf eggs this season in a scramble (on the winning team, not rigged at all) and also woking a local tight long carry over vegetation to sloped greens 9-hole par 40 course a few times with mixed results

combined with enough information gathered from recent range sessions to know my swing is very jekyll and hyde while i'm transitioning into a better right elbow motion,

and the course we play this friday does not even have a net to warm up in let alone an over the top practice area for those of us still trying to figure stuff out.

it's a rather scottish straight from the parking lot drop it on the first tee box attitude toward golf and i'm all fore it

-2 in the 9 holes I played tonight.

Went like this.

Birdie

Bogey

1st bogey is on a tough hole so acceptable. On the 8th though piped it with a iron off the tee not quite acceptable.

Our group had 10 birdies between us. I had 4, 20 handicapper had 4 and finished 1 and the other player similar to me had 2.

I will add the 1st/3rd birdies were long putts that fortunately fell in.

Shot 91 at this Par 72 35/37 6200 yards 70.1/123 the only other time I played it 2 months ago.

82 38/44
6/14 fairways, 7/18 greens
11 pars, 5 bogeys, 1 double and a triple
5 1-putts. 31 putts. Putting was stellar.

Triple was caused by 2nd shot into a par 5 after a perfect drive. 5-wood from 245 yards. I don't expect to get all the way there. Hook it left of the green and a little short stymied by a tree. Advance it 5 feet under a tree. Whiffed TWICE trying to get it out of there. 3rd time it rolls 4 feet. Knock it on and make a 35 footer for triple. Gross. Should have taken an unplayable.

Had it +4 thru 13 and was smelling sub-80, but then made that stupid triple. Needed par, par on 17 and 18 for my first sub-80, but went bogey, double after a bad tee shot on 17 and one that found the water on 18.

In spite of the collapse, still my best round ever to par at +10.

Back at it tomorrow.

dammit Easy you're so fucking close

and this guy out here strutting like he should

Played this 6,085 yard 69.1/130 Par 71(35/36) 5 weeks ago for the first time and shot 90(47/43).

83(39/44)
2/14 fairways, 7/18 greens.
1 birdie, 7 pars, 7 bogeys and 3 doubles.
5 1-putts, 3 3-putts. 34 putts.

Very good round. Missed a lot of fairways, but usually had a good shot in. Nothing awful. Very confident with my short check-up-and-roll-to-the-cup chips. Putting has really improved.

Trying to only practice tomorrow, but may end up playing.

41 full rounds this season, +18.05 average.
Last 10 rounds, +15.2 average.

Scramble today, finished -13. Winner was -19, two teams at -18, two more at -16.

This one had all the gadgets: Mulligans, string, throws, buy a shot, you name it. Not my favorite but it was a good time. Driver was complete ass but wasn't needed. Approach shots were really good. We only had to chip once. Putting wasn't great, lots of putts close but I didn't put many in.

caveat: the doctor is still applying tourniquets to my swing thoughts
but so far the results on a 68.6/116 6,000 yard par 72 (35/37) resemble this:

30 putts (15 each side), no three putts, only two for bird, grazed feathers both times

shhh*t thanks g-bebe for passing along your schnozel virus
savagely snapped off two sleeves like some macho man right before even making the turn
including a 70 yard fairway third shot wedge into a par 5 resulting in 7

the front included seven doubles (sadly none came with cheese from in-n-o), one par and a booger

quickly turned +6 with a par after the next four holes

the finishing five were seven over including a par on the final

not sure of mathematicals above but the scorecard shows 28 over for a cool huno

also forgot to mention
the round next week is on a course that hosts annual lpga events

16 decent holes swinging nicely.

Missed green on 3 and went in a bunker didn't get up and down.
6th Back of the green in 2 decided to 3 putt and left myself a 5 footer which missed.
17th...... Haven't really hit anything super left for a while now however I managed to pull the ass out of this one going OB. 3 off the tee wasn't to much better either on the line of OB but had to chip out. Pulled my wedge shot. Chipped on 2 putt.
18th whilst I got a par pushed my 6 iron off the tee so far right. Then hit a meh 9 iron into the bunker. Thankfully hit a really good bunker shot to save Par.

Come 2nd in the comp playing off of 4 round my local.

42-39-81. 1 birdie, no double bogeys. 68.1/129/5869

Ravines in Saugatuck, MI. Nice Arnold Palmer design. Had several birdie putts but could only coax one of them into the cup. Wasn't a great ball striking day, but was able to save a couple bogeys to keep the score reasonable.

i'd be happy with +3 round that included a quad

Shot 82 in my tourney today, sixth sub-85 this year and twelfth sub-85 lifetime. Parred six straight holes from 9 through 14 to have a real shot at sub-80 but sadly played the last 4 holes in +4.

Will set a new career low index. LGLG!

53-54 107 City course near me. One par four bogies. Playing alot this summer but not getting better.

looks like a good ball haul at least!

Yeah it's really good considering the year I've had with golf it's good to get a nice run of form even more so coming back from the injury, I've kind of had a 'aha' moment with it. I will add my course is probably the easiest course to play. Very short and the rating isn't high at all. I think handicap wise it plays 6 under your handicap.

so what your course is 'easy' you are still executing and scoring well
give yourself some credit huh?

by REDeYeS00 m

not sure of mathematicals

The mathematicals don't matter, good to see you in the game.

I am simple man with simple pleasures. Few things brighten my day more than checking in on this thread and finding a post from TremendousSlouch. 😀

88 in a new league I'm in. Started 8, 6 and got another 8 on the back. One birdie. Should've been under 85 for sure

43-39-82. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys. 70.3/133/6131

Pleased with the driver, only one wayward shot and zero popups. Rest of the ball striking decent. Short game poor on the front, better on the back. Didn't have time to hit the practice bunker, wished I had since I took three shots on the way to a double on the fourth hole. Avoided the sand otherwise.

Back at my home course after 2 days off. (36/36/72 6,200 yards 70.3/124)

78 (38/40)
6/14 fairways, 12/18 greens.
3 birdies (1 chip-in), 8 pars, 5 bogeys, 2 doubles.
2 1-putts, 2 3-putts. 34 putts.

Whiffed a chip on my 17th hole when I had it +4. (Tee shot on the par 3 went slightly over the green just into the rough. Scary downhill chip to a front pin that I stuffed into the turf and didn't move the ball at all.) Made double, but managed to hit a brilliant 2nd on the last hole (after a bad tee shot that went right and hit a fence) with my recently-added-to-the-bag 4h that found the green.

Sent us off the back. All of my sub-40s have come on the back 9 here. First but hopefully not last sub-80.

Back at it tomorrow.

so fun watching the change in your scores BE, goes to show how much course time matters

Another 100 plus round, another found ball haul.

Sent off the back again. HOT. 90 and sunny by the time I was done. 10-15mph winds at times.

85 (39/46)
3/14 fairways, 6/18 greens.
2 birdies, 6 pars, 6 bogeys, 3 doubles and a triple.
5 1-putts, 2 3-putts. 33 putts.

Thought I may be the chosen one when I was allowed to go off early by myself and had it -2 thru 4, but then I let the 3-some behind me join me after the 4th and it all fell apart.

Got in trouble off the tee more often than not, but overall can't complain. Have broken 40 more than 3 times and 80 once. Only goal remaining is to get the handicap sub-10. (Currently 12.2)

interested in reading more if you are comfortable sharing additional thoughts on this topic
was it because you thought they were watching your swing path and wrist position or perhaps something else was more involved
