I'm super new to playing live, but interested in playing a bit regularly to get out of the house and change up my daily work grind a bit. Where is a good place to play to just casually learn the game?

Boulder Station has 3-6 limit hold'em and 1-2 no-limit if you want to get your feet wet with the live game. Tell the dealers that you are new to live poker and they will help you out. They also have limit omaha as high only as well.

I'm near Pecos & Sunset, a bit south of Casa Shenendoah. South Point sounds like a place to check out, so I'll probably try that.

Anyone familiar with Silver Stream apartments and the area it's in, in Spring Valley? Considering a move and was curious about this complex if anyone has experience with them.

south point is a very active room with less of the grumpy old men that orleans seems to attract. they still skew towards the older player at south point, but they arent the 'my last 300$' type old player at those stakes. there are actually some decent players in that room which helps you get better.

I think I read that there will be no gambling on the Uno game. It will strictly be a social game.

I'm assuming you probably play online already, but if not, I'd suggest doing that so you can get familiar with the way blinds work and what not. There's plenty of free play poker sites out there to get your feet wet. Live play really isn't that much different....but it's a lot less hands, more profitable hands, etc. As others said, tell the dealer and other players you're relatively new to live poker and they will give you some grace. It's also important to take note of string bets, how many chips your moving across the betting line and your verbal words when playing live. I'd suggest going during the day if possible. Relax and have fun.

Just verbalize every action before doing anything with chips and you will be fine. This can be harder because at least for me when I got nervous when playing live for the first few times I have a habit of clamming up because i didn’t want to seem nervous. This can lead to more problems though.

“I raise to $20”

“Call”

And casinos are going to make space for the tables??

Are there any LV hotels that will run your credit card at the front desk (or just add a charge to your room) and then give you cash? For gambling/tips/etc. I understand this isn't very common but if there's one city where hotels would consider it, LV would be it.

no

might give "resort credit" or dining credit or freeplay to your players card, but never cash

they do have ATMs which sounds like what you are looking for

sorry for being noob but its absolutely insane how the 20$ trick can work in some instances.

for years I went to same hotel, always asked for late checkout the best they could do was 12 one time it was 1. but never past that since "they couldn't". I never did the 20$ trick I just asked nicely.

well for my last stay, I decided to do the 20$ trick 2 days before my checkout and they said let me see if the room is booked then they told me what time would be best for me, i said can I do 3pm or 4? they said I get to pick, i said 4pm

lo and behold, i was able to checkout at 4 pm LOL

The cage or most ATMS will allow you to take out a cash advance against your credit line on a credit card. But cash advances usually involve exorbitant fees that make them an option reserved only for the most desperate and/or degenerate.

The only place I have ever heard of being able to do something like this is on certain cruise ships, where you can use your credit card to put money in your gambling account without incurring any additional fees.

I agree with Langdon's advice that it might be a good idea to start with LHE. People take it a lot less seriously than low stakes no limit, and if you make a mistake it's probably going to be less costly because of the fixed betting structure. I.E., in no limit, if you accidentally try to string raise, that might have been a very big raise you were trying to make and miss out on, but in limit you will just miss a single fixed bet.

Main downsides I see are that you might be more familiar with no limit if that's what you've always played, and limit games tend to move much faster than no limit, and the more deliberate pace of no limit might help you follow the game more easily than a limit game.

because poker players don't care if the sidewalks are not completely packed or the casino floor is empty or if night club drink prices are too high. we just want bodies in the poker room (which there are) and nice dining options available (which we find)

Grand Luxe and Cheesecake Factory are still very reasonable priced, Slice of Vegas near Mandalay Bay room, poker comps for Aria dining, and tip the server for your drink at the poker table. you can still find affordable hotel rooms if you look and prepare. what is to complain about

Define cashiers give me a really hard time etc. Part of their job is to handle safekeeping.I would ask either at the poker cage or main cage if a temp safe deposit box is available for the duration of your trip.Otherwise, just carry the cash on you. Since it's likely you are playing at Bellagio/Aria/Wynn, 10k is chump change to carry around. Just pay attention to your surrou

It seems like either they strongly discourage the use of players banks or they have very strict AML procedures.

To deposit, it takes 15 minutes. They go into the back room to talk to their supervisors once or twice. They ask me where the money's from. They look at me like I'm a criminal while entering information into their system. They ask for my SSN.

To withdraw, it also takes 15 minutes. They wait for me to be sat in a game. They ask me to bring a poker supervisor over. They give me a little bit of an attitude while entering information into their system. And they never ask for my ID when I withdraw.

Is 20k also chump change? I bring 5-10k. With a big win, I'd occasionally leave with 20k.

I lived and played in Vegas for 4 years, but I've never heard of casinos in Vegas having player bank accounts, nor have I heard of armed robbery being a big problem there, but...Make sure no one is following you out of the poker room, out the casino door, or following your car after leaving. Consider parking at a different casino than the one where you're playing. It's not eas

Thank you for this.

I talked to some regs. They also have no idea players banks existed or that players ever use them.

I have a safe deposit box at a local bank. So thankfully don't have to keep anything at my Airbnb when I'm not there.

$2k buy in isn't big, and tripling your buy-in isn't really that big of a win. So many guys just walking around with overstuffed manilla envelopeor backpacks one month ago. Mainly be wary of random women who say hi to you.

2k max for the game, multiple bullets. But it sounds like I shouldn't be too concerned unless I'm regularly coming and going with 25k+?
